  1. Hi, Sounds like a close call there, your health must come first. Good luck with your change of plan & hope it all works out All the best for the future N
  2. Hi, Weve grown several Acers over the years, they like a shady sheltered spot from wind that dries their leaves. They also prefer a slightly acidic soil with some drainage, we once grew one on clay although we did put a lot of ericaceous compost in the ground before planting. I also used the old leaves as a mulch without problem. Your tree has grown a fair bit & does look like its somewhat exposed, Id cut & examine dead branches then post back pics, some of our have had branches die which I remove but nothing like yours. I would check to see whats around the base as suggested previously & check the soil is not too dry or too moist maybe apply a mulch of peat & water if too dry. N
  3. Hi Jon, 30 degrees according to the Meteo, but feels more like 32-33 right now, blue sky with a few clouds. N
  4. Hi, I got a Fenix TK 75 - upto 2900 lumens with 4 intensity settings, uses 4 * 18650 LioN batteries not cheap, but its a brilliant torch & illuminates upto 700 metres. It runs for about 2 hours on max upto 200hrs on lowest setting & you can buy an extension tube to double run times buy it again for sure. N
  5. Hi, I bought a Wanner grease gun about 25 maybe even 30 years ago, works same as the day I first filled it up. N
  6. Indeed, agree with above & IC Trees. On a more serious note was wondering if the UK would benefit form a similar system to protect artisans in France, where if you employ any old Joe to cut a tree (or do building work say) & they dont have the relevant Siret number/quals along with 3rd party insurance for the job, then the householder as well as dodgy Joe can get totally in the **** & both end up fined lots of money. It may sound protectionist & no amount of regulation would stop it happening, but Im sure if some one with the right knowledge made the proposal & enough people wrote to their MPs requesting a change in the law regarding this - providing they got it right (unlikely, since when do they ever?!), then it wouldnt be a bad thing & may reduce the all too numerous "got undercut today by..." type posts & maybe some of the senseless amateurs may retain the correct number of arms, legs & other bits. Just a thought N
  7. They diddnt have any 'certification' when I first used a saw; caution, an understanding of gravity & common sense was sufficient. N
  8. Ooh Im not so sure you will like that, theres the beautiful Limousin forest & they make very strong alcohol Enjoy! N
  9. Hi, Yes, Bergerac is not far south of us, Chateau Jaubertie a nice white & Chateau Pierrail between Bordeaux & Bergerac my favourite red from the region. We also like the Lot Valley to the East, beautiful area around Cajarc, with Cahors making fantastic meaty reds - very tranquil 'La France profonde' where we have friends with a gite complex. That said, we have a similar view from the Prieu in the back garden. Bon vacances N
  10. Hi, I have the earlier MS250 version of your saw which also came with the 'easy tension system' with one stud and the 'almost impossible to set the chain tension correctly' large wheel. As it was a PIA (for me), I converted mine to conventional 2 studs & nuts using the following parts from L&S Engineers: Chain Tensioner Kit for Stihl MS181, MS230 - 1123 007 1000 Sprocket Stud Collar Screw for Stihl Chainsaws - 1123 664 2400 Chain Sprocket Cover for Stihl MS170 MS180 - 1123 640 1705 Sprocket Cover Nut M8 for Stihl Chainsaws - 0000 955 0801 If you decide this is a way ahead, please check these parts fit your 251 saw as mine is the earlier version MS250. Hope this helps anyway & hope it gets fixed soon N
  11. Hi Ty, Thats really good, Id have some myself but you're a bit too far away, If you end up supplying CHP then it'll disappear even faster N
  12. Hi. Only 50Km from me, may go along Nice region where you live: Pessac-Leognan one of my favourites. N

    Grillo Cultivator

Hi, The Howard rotovator is a good one, plenty still going strong now, yes a little tractor would help a lot & its good if you get one that can take different attachments. I kept hitting large stones in the area where I tried to plough so dug them out then rotovated the lot, perhaps late Autumn I'll try turning it all over with the plough & post some pics. N
  17. Hi Jon, Nice and sunny today here N

Hi Scott We're extremely pleased and overall construction is really very solid, our neighbour has an old Gondolin and it seems every bit as well built. The controls seem well thought out, for example reverse & power transfer are interlocked to prevent PTO going backwards & cultivating your feet ! Its a little bit notchy in the gearbox but starting to feel easier already. You can swivel the handles easily so you dont walk on the tilthe, swapping the handle bars around to reverse them (for a grass clipper bar) seems straight forward also. The other cultivator we looked at was BCS which seem very good, but we have extremely good support & the chap in our local dealer lives nearby. Certainly makes easy work & very impressed so far. N
  21. Hi all, Heres our G85d cultivator with plough kit - our neighbour was very amused by my wonky furrows (sorry no pic to laugh at) but it was a first for me. Its a beast & pulls well without too much throttle 8.3 Hp engine, got 2 forward & reverse gears, difflock, slightly larger wheels with weights & a pair of extenders to widen the track for stability. Seems easy to use as well. Theres a good selection of attachments available & I think I saw one running a log splitter on You tube. N
  22. Hi, You should be able to train your junk mail filter to pick most of this trash up If you have mail rules then write a rule that will delete the mail, the Thunderbird mail client is quite good at junk filtering and the rules are simple to set. If you run a domain, you could consider creating thow away mail forwarders so you dont let on about your main address for example use arbtalk@whatever your domain is.co.uk to forward to your main email. N
  23. Hi, 40K gone AWOL must have been a nightmare I also bank with Santander for our very small biz & they seem fine, have used them for about 7 years now. N
