    Husqvarna 365xp

Hi, I am aware of that, I was stating that I prefer my 365 XTorque as a 'non auto tune' saw as the ones that are; 550 & 560 seem to have experienced reliability issues in the past - which are hopefully sorted now. N

    Husqvarna 365xp

Hi, I have a 365 XTorq, I prefer that its not an XP (autotune) saw as I can only see it makes it more reliable. I run a 20" bar, Id say that 24" is probably the maximum size bar & a 28" would make it a little slow in Oak but it may be OK for infrequent use & as posted, its easy to tweak the engine. If you want a saw that will run a 28" bar well I'd look at a 390xp N

Hi, Well done, sounds really good, particularly the 'normal carburettor' & build quality Keep us posted on how things go, no daft flippy caps either? N
  5. Hi Jon, Just cycled through some of the greatest wine producing areas in France: Paulliac, Margaux, Pessac-Leognan, Graves & a bit of Sauternes Fairly hot at around 32 - 34 degrees but grapes ripening nicely! M

    Bigger saw

Hi, I would have thought a 372 would easily run an 18" bar, my 365 runs a 20" no problem & it can be modded to a 372 if you look at some of the other posts regarding the 365. A 461 as Jon says is another good choice (Ive used a 460 & lots of power) & I know he likes the 461 perhaps consider a Sugi Hara bar if its going to get plenty of use. For more 'grunt' a 660/661 with 25" or a 390 on 24 should suffice N

    New toy!

Hi, Hmm, looks like a 365 to me though I dont have my glasses an excellent choice if I may say so, I really like mine it seems to have plenty of power & nice balance well done, N
  8. Hi Husqvarna, Please post in picture thread when you get it then! ATB N
  9. Hi all, Doing reasonably well so far: 150 Kg spuds Parsnips, carrots smaller crop but diddnt plant much lettuce & salad onions doing fine loads of courgettes fennel loads of mini cucumbers melons Poitiron - like pumpkin make lovely soup - OMG about 35 of them squash broccoli Jerusalem artichokes & leeks doing well Not so good: Tomatoes - been too wet even here, sprayed with Bordeaux mix but they have maladie Mick Stockbridge hi, - good crop just put a ripe tomato in with your green ones they will ripen in a few days - yes a bannana will work also - its the Ethylene gas that does it. Works best if they are put together in brown paper bag - traps the gas? not sure exactly why. N
  10. Hi I must admit since buying a 365 Ive got to like & respect its power, wouldn't mind a 390 on a 24 TBH when funds permit. Enjoy your new saw it looks great, but where is the Sugi (aka Rob D) bar? N
  11. Hi, Sounds like the guy is wasting your time here, its incompatible with the job to abuse drugs / booze so much he's unfit for work the next day, particularly if operating machinery or responsible for the safety of you & any others in your team. I think you need to speak to him about it & let it be known that you are not happy. Im sure he wouldnt like doing 5 days work but only getting 4 days pay, so I'd get shot of him, I can only see it getting worse. N
  12. Hi In France each car has a sticker with MOT (CT) & a miniature insurance certificate both show expiry dates because the vehicle is insured (as opposed to the driver) theres no road tax as thats on the fuel. Good idea me thinks, but the UK system is wrong & the DVLA are making money where the tax has already been paid, another example of rip off Britain. N
  13. Hi, Definitely worth it if you are going to be cutting a lot, may not be worth it if your 390 will not be in mainstream use. Depends on use really once my bars are worn I will be changing to Sugi. N
  14. Hi, Sorry to hear of your injury, but posting may serve as a caution to those who think they may 'get away with it' Is it worth considering a pair of these in future? I find they dont restrict movement but do offer some protection to arms: SIP chainsaw protection sleeve | F R Jones and Son Hope you make full recovery N
  15. Hi Sorry to hear about your brand new 550 & other stuff getting nicked, I would also like a 346 if they still made it or a 550 for when my Stihl gets replaced & no daft flippy caps - hopefully. I have a 365 & its great, love it. N

    Husqi 435e

Hi & Welcome, You're very fortunate there, to have 5 acres of wood to cut, I hope you manage it well. Keep your money & listen to Spud & some of the other experienced guys, theres a good, well intentioned crowd here. Im sure your 435 will serve you well once its tweaked a bit & you could always take it to a dealer to have a look at if you dont want to tinker. N
  17. Yes, my terminology of 'side plate' may be misleading but been calling it that for years, sorry. Chain Tensioner Kit for Stihl MS181, MS230 - 1123 007 1000 Sprocket Stud Collar Screw for Stihl Chainsaws - 1123 664 2400 Chain Sprocket Cover for Stihl MS170 MS180 - 1123 640 1705 Sprocket Cover Nut M8 for Stihl Chainsaws - 0000 955 0801 Part numbers C&P from my order at L&S, if anyone's interesting in converting a Stihl, about £25 but well worth it. N
  18. Hi I have converted a Stihl 250 from tool-less to proper chain tensioning, it involved a replacement side plate, a bar stud & a new tensioner kit. To be honest no matter how hard I tried the tool-less tensioning dosnt work properly & once replaced was simple to achieve correct tension. If the casings are the same between models it must be do-able. N
  19. Hi I think you need a test kit & check it weekly or monthly for ammonia until you get an idea of its trends. N
  20. Hi, The problem is (as I understand it) that Koi pee a lot which adds ammonia, for which the level in my opinion should be zero or as low as possible, this is why you need to circulate the water in your pond and clean & filter it. Also as pointed out there will be a problem with parasites, which are reduced significantly with a UV filter. Unfortunately Koi do need this or they wont survive very long, unless you have a stream running in & out of your pond. I kept Koi for about 20 years when I lived in UK & one of my pals used to sell them so Im not making this up! N
  21. Hi You need a decent amount of flow to keep the water fresh, I had an in-line magnet, then a UV filter before the water went through one of those large biological filters. All of this keeps the water clean & clear with reduced bacteria and bugs N
  22. Hi, = Yes & most free office for Mac aplications will also. Im fairly sure that Preview the file viewer in OSx will open & display docx files. You have a large choice, as suggested iWork - Pages, Numbers & Keynote will open and write to word, .xls & powerpoint files including the later docx type. Other than that Libre Office for Mac or Open Office for Mac works fine. I use iWork & its a lot less frustrating than its MS equivalents N
  23. Hi & Welcome, I think the issue with them is the clutch bearing failing prematurely, I have an MS250 & decided to change the clutch sprocket bearing annually they are only about £2.50 ish & lightly grease it after a good cutting session. I also have a Husky 365 where the manual states to grease the clutch sprocket bearing every 50 hours use (if I recall correctly) however it makes no mention of any maintenance for my Stihl but it seemed prudent to perform the same maintenance (to me). Just my thoughts, but Im sure some others may post their opinions. N

  25. Hi One more vote from me for Santader business banking, been using them for about 5 years now & absolutely perfect for our needs. The only minor niggle is they punt the Trusteer Raport software which is OK, but I have my own security solution. N
