Hi +1 Silkys are excellent, sure you wont be dissapointed I very much prefer using my Gomtaro (to a chainsaw) if possible when climbing for removing small limbs, we both have one so Mrs NFG has a pink belt clip on hers N

Hi, Took me just over an hour, did another similar sized patch this morning, started just before eleven done by twelve. The engine was just running at a nice steady speed, as it has loads of torque. N

Hi Thanks for hints & comments so far, will ensure it gets a spray of GT85 over winter & hopefully a few more goes will polish it completely. Just got to clean off the wheels tomorrow N

Hi all, My first go at ploughing with our Grillo G85D - made a good job & Mrs NFG did a couple of furrows too! Bit muddy but coped well & the difflock came in handy on the slightly uphill return N

Ha ha, I would have removed the Sugi bar first. I often get the 'you wouldnt mind looking at my laptop, its just a... ' i can tell they want me to do it for nothing & its usually serious because theyve messed & buggered it properly or the HDD has gone. So I tell them, You'll get a very quick fix by me driving over it in my Landy for free then? Works every time, perfect solution. N

Hi Spotted two Dolmars in French DIY shop 'Briconautes' yesterday, one was a 350, think it was 345 Euros (£255) the other smaller one was 265 Euros £200. First time Id seen them over here so had to have a looksie, must say they certainly looked good quality. N

Hi Duncan The chain specs should be stamped on the bar usually near the drive sprocket end A friend of ours has two 181s & really likes them, they cut a fair pile of firewood each year so dont be too quick to part with it. N

Hi welcome, You may find some work in the camping sites, which are sometimes located in pine forests, but dont sell yourself to short or they may expect you to work for free forever! Nice area Finistere, had a week at Benodet last year, lovely area. good luck N

Hi TW72, Agreed, but A product thats really good dosn't make for a revenue stream, no good having saws run for ever, cars & everything seems the same these days. HP nearly folded because its HP Laserjet 5 just ran and ran and had to pay for a report that said inkjets were cheaper to run (not) Ive serviced more than a few LJ 5s with 1.5 million pages printed & still going like a 242 Husky or 341 Stihl for examples. N

Hi WYK - Thanks noted, am considering between 346 or 545 or 550 but prefer non auto tune saw, you will probably say get a 550 & yes Im tempted but 346 I saw is a good bit less over here. WisecoBandit - Had a go with a 346 a while ago, cant recall if it was 45 or 50 cc but just felt better balance & revved better in & out of cut - I keep my chain sharp & air filter clear. The 250 gets a fair bit of use so ergonomics fairly important, 346 seems like a smidge more oompf but dont really look at numbers other than cc, weights feel about the same to me. Thanks for posts N

Hi +1 from me, not used Makita but heard nothing but good on the forum, incidentally Duncan_R is also considering parting with his MS181 if you read that thread so may be worth a PM . The Husky 135 & Stihl 181 are pretty good for starters & good on you for considering the PPE, Type A class 1 trousers should do. All the best N

Hi Spud, 'not very standard' - I doubt if any of your saws are! bit miffed they refused to change from the 18" bar being a dealer though, prefer shorter but then thats French customer service at its finest - 101 ways to say Non! Ive always consider the 346 a good un & will check its an NE silver side one, Thanks for your words of wisdom, very much appreciated N

OK, Thanks for replies fo far, just seen a 346xp for what would be £475 at current exchange rate, may be worth considering as a 550 is nearly £600 here; 1. Just need to check date of manufacture 2. They will only do it with 18" bar so may see if they will do without your thoughts? N

Hi, I think they are active after a cold spell once soil starts to warm & or if its been dry then rains its easier to dig new tunnel for worms. N

Yes, it will only be one mole, they can cover an area the size of football pitch They do have very sensitive smell so if you expose each hole & put a little diesel down it generally moves them, once gone try & cave in all the runs. N

Hi & Welcome to forum Check the date on the 660, I think Id go for that, 1000 euros is around £750 - if you are in France or Spain saws are pretty expensive new though. It aslo depends what sort of guarantee if any the dealer will provide on ex demo saw & if its not too old, but if it all makes sense because he's local to you & has good support. If I wanted to pull a 24" bar on a regular basis Id go for a 390xp or a 461 with 25" but a 660 will pull that with ease, dont know about 090s but sound quite big & may be good for milling. Just my thoughts N
