  1. But lets not forget Monty Pythons "Election Night Special" and the three-cornered fight between Alan Jones - Sensible Party, Tarquin Fin-tim-lim-bim-whin-bim-lim-bus-stop-F'tang- F'tang Olè Biscuit Barrel - Silly Party and Kevin Phillips-Bong, the Slightly Silly candidate... 2. yes, but a win-win situation for the Conservatives there! N
  3. Hmm, that might be a good thing then, for the Conservatives. N
  4. Pound response V Euro over last 12 hours & during the last 7 days (right) N
  5. Labour request a re-count, so they must be the wrong side of the line, hopefully N
  6. Hi Jon, Well I think the Conservatives may win but not with a majority, although it doesn't really affect us too much. We get to vote for our local mayor I think the scary prospect of a labour / SNP alliance brought people to their senses & support the Conservatives, people may not like their policies but overall they are by far the better party for the UK. I cant see the Lib dems (or is it communist party?) doing very well, they were pretty abysmal under the coalition with a disproportionate share of governance. Id personally favour a Tory/UKIP coalition if there has to be one as maybe they would control immigration correctly. However, every Labour government I've known has always left the country totally bankrupt & the average working man pays dearly for it, unfortunately people have short memories at the ballot box. Good luck, Angleterre you need it! N

    stihl ms193

Hi & welcome I agree, that Trio brake thing is a waste of time, I had a look at one not so long ago, awkward & not necessary. The 435 is not a pro saw, but pulls a .325 chain hence the lower chain speed compared to similar 40cc Huskys, ie 135 etc, but the smaller pico chains go dull quite quickly. The 193 is a top handle saw, so you might like to avoid that as its your first saw. You dont state your intentions for your saw, so I'll guess its around £300 budget for firewood & maybe a bit of felling in which case the 435 would be fine, Normandy Lumberjack used one & liked it, or you could look at an Echo CS420ES. Try & avoid gimmicks like tool-less chain tensioning - fiddly & more to go wrong than 2 nuts & a screw & leave some cash for some PPE - helmet, trousers & boots. bon courage N
  8. Hi, Do I read this correct, over 10K a year ? As Mark suggests you could get a lot of hosting with a nice web site for around £900 & spend the rest of something else get rid ASAP N

    Stihl Pro Models

& both well worth hanging on to, even if the 240 dosn't run, if it has compression then it's probably not beyond repair. N
  10. Hi Try Pallet Line, Pallet Delivery & Palletised Distribution // Palletline think they are fairly reasonable N
  11. Hi Wes, I did have a look for your pics on weights as I know you have them on line somewhere - Arborsite maybe? (oops!) Sorry my bad, but wish the blooming manufacturers wouldnt miss lead with their specs - still pref my 365 over a 391 anyday though hows your 241 going as thats a nice saw? N
  12. Hi Agree entirely, new saws buggered by EU daft emissions policies Manufacturers also seem to make parts less reliable - built in obsolescence to boost profits Gimmicks that dont work: - Stihl flip caps? - utter junk, Tool-less tensioners? dont work, just what is so hard about 2 nuts & a screw? Oh & fancy electronic stuff that goes wrong, usually expensive to fix - no thanks. Husqvarna 3 series all the way from now: 346, 365 & hopefully a 390 will be my line up. N
  13. OK, the 391 - 365 difference is + 0.2 Kg, shouldn't be much difference to a West Highlander & with more power, you wont be holding it for as long. 365 be quick on 18" couldnt have put it better myself. N
  14. Hi The 034 was a rather good saw if I recall, Both those you list are slightly larger cc wise, if thats what you want then a Husky 365 is a rather good buy: 70cc, non auto-tune with plenty of power to pull a 20" bar on 3/8th similar weight to 391, its also about the same price. Im sure Dolmar & Echo will feature in the alternatives as they seem pretty good & have a strong following here, used to use a Dolly some years ago but not tried the later ones - yet! N
  15. works well, use it all the time in winter on ours N
  16. No chance, it'll be cizzer all round I suspect Good luck Jon hope you pick a winner N
  17. Hi, Yes, I was 12 or 13, no chainbrakes then either. Starts wi a bit o choke, cut a wee bit underneath first if hes under tension & nae cuttin wi the tip laddie, that was my CS30 done in 20 seconds N
  18. Hi, I took a saw via Brittany Ferries to France a while ago, wrote a letter to them explaining it would be dry & with B&C plus spark plug removed, got a letter back saying thats fine, just tell the people on the gate & show copy of letter. However, I would contact who ever you intend to travel with & check their requirements, they may have changed. N
  19. Hi Jon, Its because you have a nice way of putting things & we like your banter it would be a pleasure one day to share a glass of vin rouge with you & Sonia N
  20. Welcome to Rip Off Britain, now you know why travellers to Canada & USA have empty suitcases on the outward journey. Exchange rates, shipping, volume sales along with market expectations all add to the price unfortunately. RRPs are fairly silly prices often discounted, however I expect the price would still be around double what you would pay in Canada. N

    Willow Arch

Hello, 1. Willow is simple to grow, just cut a new growth & push it into the ground obviously best done when wet 2. I would cultivate as above it grows fairly quickly 3. Free, if you know someone with a willow You need to be a little careful on where you plant as the roots will search for water - Ive seen roots strangle & crack drainage pipes so be aware of this! N
  22. Hi Jon Theres an app for that! Yes they are good FR Jones & Son, done a chain for me recently & had it sent to our son in Plymouth to bring over as postage a bit daft to France. N
  23. Hi, We collect rainwater on a fairly large scale, around 4000 litres above in IBC tanks and a bit more below ground 5000 litre concrete tank, we also have a well with pump which I will connect to house eventually Most of it is for the garden because it really does not rain very much if at all in summer, sometimes 8-10 weeks without rain. I posted some flicks of my system for toilet flush, which diddnt cost much to install. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/lounge/69884-saving-water.html However, this & using rainwater for irrigation are now saving us a lot on the meter. A black tank will help stop algae growth in summer or you can treat it N
  24. Hi Just over the £100 mark, not that bad IMO being as they last so long N
  25. Hi Id go for 395 without a thought, much prefer Huskys & theres a good reason to avoid newer technology which can be expensive if it goes wrong. 3 series Huskys very popular over here too! N
