Hi As per my previous post Mister-Solutions went bust earlier this year, from companies house: MISTER-SOLUTIONS LIMITED 2 CITY ROAD CHESTER CH1 3AE Company No. 05971051 Is now in liquidation. & agreed, its a shame as they were pretty good. N
  3. Hi Jon, No fires here, been about twenty something today but rising to thirty by the end of the week. Has the UK turned into Siberia as it sounds really cold? N

    Home brew!

Hi Yes, we ferment plums to take to the local alambique (distillery) to make Eau de Vie, its 60 percent proof we then turn this into a fruit aperitif called Pineau, by mixing 1:3 Eau de Vie with un fermented grape juice then leaving in a small fut barrel to mature for 6 or so months. N
  6. Agreed, Over-greasing is a cause of bearing failure, ran a reactor plant with dozens of pumps years ago & bearing greasing was carefully controlled. Dont know enough about HB20 but I would consult manufacturers N
  7. Hmm, problem with the tank breather perhaps? take a look at this thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaws/46716-stihl-ms-230-a-2.html Spud posted some nice images N
  8. Hi, I had a similar - ish problem with my 250, I replaced the fuel pick-up pipe as I discovered these can split, not sure if thats what you have. The pickup pipe filter is also worth checking as suggested by Spud, heres the pipe if needed Fuel Hose for Stihl MS210 MS230 MS250 | Stihl 021/MS210 Chainsaw Spares The carbs on these saws are prone to flooding, so I start: one pull on choke position fully down, on or two on half next click up, then put to run position for further pulls. N
  9. Ha ha , be amusing if she's got admin rights as well, keep an eye on Jon, so welcome Mrs Logs, enjoy N
  10. Hi I got a MIG 135TE from Machine Mart & before people say crap its actually rather good. I also got a bottle of Hobbyweld 5 & a decent regulator as the disposable cylinders could get expensive & correct gas mix / flow of gas is important along with an auto dimming visor. It all works well for me & does everything I need it for. N
  11. Hi The Dolmar ( Makita) is better than either, the 420 looks like an excellent saw, I may have to find room for one... If you go to B&Q I hope your saw lasts longer than a friends Mac340, went round the same Husky/Stihl something else discussion eventually ignored all advice and bought a cheap one. Ran for 5 minutes & engine failed (no it wasnt fuel mix) ended up costing more than worth to repair as the shop wouldn't honour the warranty despite having discovered it was actually incorrectly assembled. Could have got a nice Dolly and had a good meal out for what he spent. good luck N
  12. Hi Great if it worked like that! Just another gadget thing to go wrong that you dont really need, you wont rip your arm off trying to start a 40-50cc saw anyway. N
  13. Hi, Thats exactly the problem, its become a career choice unfortunately. I personally dont see why anyone unemployed should receive more than the minimum wage as its a safety net not a lifestyle choice. N
  14. Hi Wes, Looks pretty good to me, Sycamore not the easiest of wood to cut N
  15. Hi, The Husqvarna has two bolts securing the bar, the Stihl one, AFAIK. I dont like the Stihl tool-less chain tensioner, does anything but set the right tension, can't comment on Huskvarna but much prefer two bolts to secure the bar. Stihl flip caps are fiddly & Ive had one fall to pieces - the replacement cost £10 but looks better designed than the original ones so clearly Stihl had a problem with the original ones. The air filter on my Stihl seems to clog easily, my Husqvarnas run for longer & collect less in the filter So I would pick up the Husky any day, but I think it worth you spending a bit more on a Dolmar 350 or 420 or look at Echo 360 looks nice, perhaps a few users may pitch in their thoughts. These have some great pro features, less gimmicks & you will not regret the expense. N
  16. Hi Wes, Oh you tease:- the wearing of hearing protection is obligatory ? Some tasty saw you have there, well done N

    Dolmar

Hi Shavey, Looks very good, especially as it has a lot of pro features, adjustable oil pump mag alloy case light weight make a good saw to start with & not as expensive as Husky 543 No daft 'tool-less' tensioner either! N
  18. Hi Out of the two Id buy the Husky & the less gimicky stuff on it the better, I dont like those tool free chain tensioners & Stihl flip caps drive me nuts as one fell to bits on me, however the Husqvarna ones do work properly. If you did have a bit more cash then a Dolmar 420cs or an Echo 360 are worth considering, both of these are around £300. N
  19. All, This years carving in Foussais Payre (South Vendee) 22nd - 25th July, free entrance to all, more detail at: Symposium de sculpture à la tronçonneuse à Foussais-Payré (85) N
  20. Its a nice enough region, there are a lot of other regions which to me would be much more desirable to visit & the 100Km or so trip would be over & done with in a couple of hours, if you're going to cross the channel for a holiday you may as well make the most of it & see a bit more (IMO). N

  22. Thats not exactly very adventurous, might as well not bother! Have a good trip anyway N
