1. Hi What about a burner? avoids nasty chemicals but kills off pretty well everything N
  2. Hi I run a 365 XTorque on a 20" bar & cut a fair bit of large oak for firewood, we also have MS250 which is similar to the 435 so be a good step up for the bigger stuff I daresay the 550 would also be a good choice but Im yet to be convinced auto tune is a good thing after several years of manual carbs I just know I would get the problematic one! N

    Which small saw?

Hi I rather like the Dolmar 420 - 43cc pro saw without any gimmicks & is also fairly tweakable gets my vote for a lot less money N

  7. Hi Send your chains to Jonsie he does an excellent job Postal chain sharpening service | F R Jones and Son N
  8. Hi I recommend locating your IBCs in the shade as you will get a build up of algae in them & it can be awkward to clear or obtain black ones. A tarp to cover it may help Ive seen IBCs connected at the tap with similar adaptors to the ones on ebay discussed on P1 successfully N
  9. It makes you pee more so dehydrates due to loss, but agreed it dosnt stop me enjoying a glass or two N
  10. Hi The fifth edition will be held from july 22nd to 25th @ Foussais Payre 85240 Vendee . 12 sculptors will create unique works in public, a team of young reporters will covers the events daily. Theres an opening ceremony on the first day (09.00 I think) which usually involves lengthy speeches in French with a glass or two of wine. Its open 10.00 am to 18.00 & you can chat to the sculptors when they take a break Its all fairly informal, theres a coffee bar with beer & wine & an indoor art exhibition as well N
  11. Hi, Its not good to drink tea or coffee as they are diuretics, alcohol also dehydrates although I do enjoy a glass of rose or two at the end of the day. Best thing is just to drink water and loads of it, all those fizzy sports drinks are full of sugary crap IMO, would rather drink my own pee tbh. N
  12. OK, Thanks for replies, for those thinking of visiting the Vendee region theres always next year N
  13. Hi Rob Ordered today! N
  14. Hi Rob, Good effort, like your site N
  15. Bienvenue from sunny France N
  16. Sorry for ambiguity First time start on my Husqvarna completely cold I use the decomp valve Once warm it generally starts first time without using the decomp valve This seems to work well what ever the temperature, hottest I have worked in is about 32-33 ish I have heard it can damage the start pawls of a 550 by not using the decomp valve but I have a 365 & 346 N
  17. Hi Temps here are a fair bit hotter than UK, we measured 41 degrees the other day although the norm is about 27-33 for this time of year. So my Husqvarnas start 2nd or 3rd pull when cold & first pull warm, I find leaving decomp valve in helps when warm. My Stihl is as always tricky to start, as the small carb is susceptible to flooding I avoid leaving them in direct sun N
  18. Nice one Eggs, been a good one in UK today N
  19. Hi Jon, I think some of those thermometer pics are in the sun, which is a lot hotter than shade temp. Yesterday I was getting 54 degrees in the sun with a heat gun as the thermometer stops at 50, however cooler here today, N
  20. Stop swimming near Hinkley Point Just checked & still over 30 at nearly 22.00 although we are +1 hr feels quite cool actually N
  21. & increasing... House is nice & cool though with all shutters closed
  22.

Hi

I confess, I did used to supervise the operation of a nuclear reactor on a submarine, until 1998 there was no sun but certainly a hot environment for all to work in!

so working in heat not really a problem here

  23. Oh and finally 6. Do a pee check - if your pee is yellow then you need to drink more water N
  24. Yes, sometimes, block laying today then some garden work in about 35 & was welding the other day, sun so bright it triggered my mask, I recommend: 1. Drinking plenty of water doesn't have to be anything special, tap or Peckham Spring will do 2. Wear a hat with a brim, a shirt with a collar (as opposed to T shirt or vest) to protect your neck & UV sunglasses. I only use sun screen if Im going to be out for a while because it stops the natural build up of Vitamin D - However if you are susceptible then its obviously necessary. 3. Work steadily, dont rush - its easy to over heat 4. Take frequent short breaks if its really hot 5. Look out for others: skin on necks & legs ie areas where they can't see. N
  25. Hi Jon, Was about 35-36 today, still well over 30 at 20.00 tonight, UK to get some real heat soon, looks just Tues & Weds Weather Maps: Max temperature Europe | WeatherOnline N
