  1. Thats their choice & not yours, dosnt make them bad people, but some are rather stupid - when they announce to the world they are having a wonderful time in... etc & as stated above, provide minimum (dis)information. However, most people are usually quite surprised by what can be gleaned from the Internet without any social media accounts at all, as all too often, privacy is abused. N
  2. Fb has its place, but treat it with extreme care! I use it to keep in touch with family & is fairly closed off, however its security is somewhat lacking, so bare minimum information is provided, no personal photo, no address, no phone numbers, incorrect DOB as all these sites are sloppy with your data - Carphone Warehouse et all! https://salt.agency/blog/facebook-security-loophole/ just one N
  3. Hi That seems like a really good deal, should fly on a 16" B&C well done n
  4. Hi "Click here to enter site" - just what was going on in their tiny minds? Internet Explorer - I should be grateful really, its legendary lack of security, ability to harbour masses of crud & the cause of so many problems I have fixed - cheers Microsoft. Ditto for Java & Adobe SW Flash - hideously insecure craplets, "Yes, yes, i know you said don't open attachments when Sophos alerts, but I did, I did..." Never mind, its not a problem you're ignorance has wasted my time, but only once as Ive booked you a one way ticket to a nice clinic in Switzerland - was my reply. Websites which have an interesting aplication that may be useful, but can you find the price? no its well buried, nowhere is there a simple products & pricing table. So, you download the trail & install it waiting for the pay us $29 timebomb at which point you think, why diddnt you tell me this & I wouldnt have bothered? So called clever (not) search boxes with grey text that states 'Search our site' in the box - so you type in someting like '550xp chainsaw' & get "sorry no results for 550xp chainsaw Search our site" what brain dead moron programed this? Banks - I must admit most have pretty crap security, so here we go: 1. 'Remember my User ID' - Uh, thats half the frickkin logon, what moron allowed that? 2. 'Secret words' filled in by letters that allow use of the keyboard as opposed to just the selection by list- ahem, have the dimwits heard of keyloggers? its mouse only FFS! 3. Not allowing the characters !@£$ in passwords - utter planks, this strengthens a password significantly. 4. They use Flash? Im floored, for the love of God why? This is a gaping hole, so flash blocker required in most banking apps - someone would have signed off on this - they should be banned from working in IT then shot for the benefit of mankind. Oh & finally, people who think its OK to bank on a mobile because its 'cool' - it really isnt secure enough. I could go on but that will do. N
  5. OK, From Specification options for IWT Tipper Ifor Williams Trailers Ltd - Britain's Leading Trailer Manufacturer The TT85 is now called TT2515 the volume is: 2.46 internal length * 1.49 internal width * height but specs dont say what height is! Therefore 3.66 * height = Cubic meteres, so: height = 40cm then volume = 1.46 Cubic metres height = 50cm then volume = 1.83 Cubic metres height = 60cm then volume = 2.20 Cubic metres N
  6. Hi, Go for it, you may regret doing nothing later N
  7. Hi ST Please dont take it personally, it is after all an opinion, everyone is entitled to that. Due to the diversity of the forum they're bound to be different. N
  8. OK, but the 420sc can be obtained for around 350 euros making the 550xp a hell of a lot heavier on your wallet. If thats all people are prepared to pay then its pointless comparing them. N
  9. Hi Dolmar 350 or 420cs are worth a look, nice build quality, no gimicks & very reasonable N
  10. Hi all I think I may have to buy one, because SawTroll says its 100 grammes heavier than a Husqvarna what ever it is & has oh no the most evil of evils, darker than satan himself - an inboard clutch... Personally i dont care, all I want to do is cut wood with trouble free tools and a nice satifying revving sound as I do so, the name on the saw is less important so long as it does the job without fiddle - like daft flipping caps & so on. You never know, if more people get behind Dolmar & Echo the other two may pull their socks up & lower their prices! N
  11. Jon, we have the rain last night - so good & saved our crops as everything was getting very dry - 50mm wide cracks in the ground! only the second decent rain in nearly 3 months! Yesterday it rained in full sun when it was about 30 degrees, hot rain falling from a blue sky for about 10 minutes, but all dried up quickly hopefully we get some more tonight & maybe lundi a tout a l'heure N
  12. Jon, Move to France, foxes are almost extinct here because they are dealt with by La Chasse - no cuddly bunny brigade here. Jan our elderly neighbour down the road lets her chickens roam loose & claims shes never lost one although I did see one narrowly missed by a car on the rue de la marie Ive seen one live Fox & one dead one & thats it in several years & long may it continue. N
  13. Hi, overhang not neccessary as we dont get much rain. The full fat version of our log store, just about got it all in
  14. Harold Wilson’s government stopped free milk for 11 to 18 year olds in 1968 In 1971 Margaret Thatcher under Ted Heath's government stopped milk for 7 to 11 year olds in England So Labours decision cut more than the Conservatives, who forever take the blame for all of it. I support the farmers for a better deal for milk N
  15. How deep is it? Most of the wood is 1 metre length & sits on pallets 1.2 m deep, the roofing material is compressed asbestos (not the dangerous stuff) 1.5m deep with a few pallets and some ash trees at the back to keep some of the rain off it. N
  16. Oooh la la, - log store envy! Thanks for the comments, Turtle - its nearly twice the size of the photo - more log store porn tomorrow when the suns out! Jon - we have a Rayburn 612M that supplies our hot water as well as cooking & radiators and a Villager A low canopy in the living room. We run the Rayburn from about end October to March ish as our thermo tubes take over for hot water or we end up with water at 85 degrees! The villager get used December to Feb approx depending on temps N
  17. Hi, If possible orientate it so the sun gets the front & the prevailing wind at the rear, it seems to work quite well but others may have their opinion comme ça: N
  18. Hi & welcome I have your same trimmer, they are very good IMO. Personally, I would just use it as its intended, keep the cutters well oiled & avoid any excessive workload for the first couple of hours. You should feel it loosen up after a few tankfulls. N
  19. NFG

    Makita Saw

Agree entirely Take a look at the Dolmar 420SC very well built 43cc pro saw at a homeowner price. Edit, just seen you ordered Makita, sure that will be fine N
  20. Hi Jon, Diesel is 76p a litre here or 1.07 euros but price goes up & down as market changes N
  21. Hi The camping municipale sites run by local councils are usually very good & fairly reasonable. Enjoy France, the weather is cracking at the moment & echange is pretty good too We are south Vendee & Normandy Lumberjack is up near Rennes N
  22. Hi Nice but you need to keep your whites a little cooler than room temperature - more suited to reds We put white/rose wine bottles in a bucket of cold water for an hour before opening gets them about right as the fridge is too cold for all but Sauternes, Champaign & Sauvignon blanc. N
  23. Hi looks a good un, What model is it please? I cant quite see the mark on the side - ta N
  24. Last week was a spot rate of 1.43 but has slid a little to 1.41 N
  25. Yes, me too - been topping up our storage tanks for several weeks now & hoping the well diddnt go dry but seems to have held up - last winter wetter than usual so the water table may be higher. Feel sorry for tourists who've just escaped from UK weather but at least its warm rain! Heard about that Jon, don't want a repeat of two years ago when Somerset levels were flooded think you may have a little wait to get to 1.50 N
