  1. Hi Gardening - we have a fair plot and grow a lot of our own Also making fairly industrial quantities of Pineau aperatiff, its a Vendean favourite - a mixture of soft fruit steeped in wine, red or white depending on fruit with Eau de Vie at 60% & small amount of sugar then finished in a barrel to help mature & give an improved taste. N
  2. Hi Jon Only about 20-22 degrees by day, but nice & sunny N
  3. Hi Jon, Very nice for picking grapes at a friends vinyard this afternoon, got about 500Kg in between us - plenty of them & bursting with juice. cooling off at nights N

  6. Hi Jon, Weather not too bad yesterday sunny but today overcast should be good for the weekend N
  7. The very economical, environmentally friendly 5.6 V8 by any chance? N
  8. Hi Jon, It's no surprise to me at all, successive so called 'green' iniatives have tried to discredit it diesel over a number of years. I believe the fuel should be refined to produce less particulates, not the engine mucked up until it does. The sad reality now is that diesel cars are fitted with a particulate filter system that does nothing for the environment, it stores up crap in cities & pumps it out on a longer run in the country, if it was in a rubbish bag, you'd call it 'fly tipping'. This often fails prematurely, cuases engine problems & is expensive to repair. Only the derranged, utterly senseless, retarded EU beaurocratic seat polishers could come up with such a useless contraption. No wonder they tried a work round, Im sure they're not alone. N
  9. Hi Eddy +1 from me, my 365 is the dogs! N
  10. Hi Looks like you can get a Sugi pro lam for it - not bad price either GROUP 3 Dolmar chainsaws | Product Categories | Sugihara Guide Bars The gauge will be stamped on your existing bar somewhere near the mount usually N
  11. Hi Got mine from Sugihara Guide Bars think its the same company as chainsawbars.co.uk N
  12. Hi A Dolmar 420 would get you up & running, its a good saw, several on here own one luckyeleven? (I dont, but would like one & have to avoid the stand in a local dealer). Its pro construction; adjustable oiler, alloy case, no gimmick flip caps & dosnt cost too much, were talking around £265 from Amazon.de . Allegedly its as heavy as a 550xp but that wouldnt put me off, just seems solidly made, very good value & well spoken of in this forum. Only downside (for you) is the chains 3/8th .050 gauge. After that save up & get a Husky 365 which I do have and it flies on 20" b&c and fine for a larger bar if needed. Its 70cc & goes through the larger rounds of oak I cut easily. I got mine form FR Jones Husqvarna 365 X Torq chainsaw (70.7cc) at just over £500 this is a bargain. E-bay requires caution; there are a lot of fakes, nicked stuff & complete wrecks described as 'Im selling this for my father who has only cut down a few trees' meaning half the Amazon rain forrest. You get a warranty with new as well. Alernatively theres Makita or Echo which make some good saws for a decent price, have a friend with 620sx who swears by it & it does a good job, Makita also seem pretty solid. Edit: Oh & welcome to the forum! N
  13. Skipper of JK7 Velsheda, wonderfull J class yacht. N
  14. Hi, must admit I'd love a 390, sounds like a 365 on steroids! </derail> Agreed, even the painted logo seems to take a while to wear. N
  15. Hi You will need to adjust carb, fairly sure it needs to be richer due to increased gas flow N
  16. Hi - made me smile, Dosn't wake up at 10.00 & nag for the latest iPhone either? but eats everything in his path:laugh1: N
  17. Hi A 390 on 20" must cut well - bet it went through a few bars before you changed N
  18. Hi I agree with previous comments, they stand up to hard use well & require less de-burring, I have a 15" on a 346 & 20" on 365 light pro types with replaceable roller tip. The 365 does seem a bit lighter overall maybe better ballance. They're worthwhile for their durability alone. N
  19. Hi I would also say the 346xpNE is equivalent of MS260 - also 50cc (I think the original 346 was 45cc ?) The 545 & 550 are more comparable to the MS261 think the 545 lacks the rev bost of the 550 which enables it to achieve high revs quicker (as opposed to higher max RPM). Good saws, I really like my 346 & the old 260 still cuts well N
  20. Must admit some graphics cards take ludicrous amounts of power, 1Kw PSU mandatory! Antec make some good ones. N
  21. Hi Spud, Im not entirely sure why this works, as the clearances in a HDD are pretty fine, I suspect it may slightly tighten the bearing to allow correct head clearance as thats critical - Im unsure. But most kit works best if its cool. Its not really a fix, as the HDD warms up it will fail again, the idea is you get your data off PDQ! Perhaps a freezer gel pack on the top whilst its running might help? I used to mount an 120mm slow reving fan in front of my discs - the older Velociraptors used to get a tad warm so needed good ventilation. Or id glue a bit of ally heatsink to any that got a bit warm. N
  22. Hi again, Im surprised you were unable to recover anything although some software is better than others. As others suggest do not attempt to boot from the failed disk or install any type of software on it, it is essential to boot from another disk or connect your failed disk to another PC or Mac / Linux box. The last time I recovered data I used this EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard - EaseUS Data Recovery Software to Recover Lost Files Back The disk in the freezer trick does work, double bag the disk & leave it 24 hours if poss to get as cold as possible. Im sure you can get something back, PM me if you wish N

    Echo 8000

Hi Just seen your pics of that lovely Echo again & noticed the labels are in French so you must send it to me without delay! It will need rubbing with Garlic & a drop of Pastis now and again I must say well done to get it almost going and looking so good N
  24. OK, thanks Cloud solutions (I mean 3rd party storage, docs, etc accessed by internet connection) are still kept at arms length by a fair amount of IT pros which I still consider myself although dont do anywhere near as much as I used to. Things like drop box & so on work, but I wouldnt rely on them or trust with my data. Quite often cloud provision is under the auspices of 'all your data is mine' for example: if you sent an e-mail under what was Microsofts Hotmail (which would be daft, as Hotmail was simple to hack) with your latest business plans, under the agreement of provision of service they would have been property of Microsoft. I suspect they will become more common place as MS Windows migrates to an entirely subscription based model - you wont get anything for free!, under Azure & Office365 with the ability to wring money out of every one & everything for it!
