  1. Yes, just thought Id post the part number & prefer the metal catchers as so far I cannot break them N
  2. Hi Steve, What a monster tree, the size of it must have made things complicated alone - dont see many like that now. See it was first posted April but worth a bump - well done & good effort N
  3. Hi Nice pics, as suggested a video would be the next step N
  4. Minor repair to my MS250 as I managed to destroy the chain catcher which is plastic (yuk) & also part of the side panel - about £18 to replace with genuine. So if you have this saw or a 210/230 & manage to do the same, dont buy a new side panel buy part number 1123 656 7700 which is a plug in one on the body of the saw, you have to remove a small black plastic cap from one of the rubber mounts first but its a 5 minute job & minimal cost. Chain Catcher for Stihl MS170, MS180, MS210, MS230, MS250 - 1123 656 7700 | Stihl MS170/017 Chainsaw Spares N
  5. Hi Agree, my moneys on a 15" bar, looks too short to be 18" against those paving blocks. Looks nice & clean, plenty of cutter length left on the chain as well Ask the seller for the numbers stamped on the bar N
  6. Just what I was thinking, so long as comp is good and a pull on the starter should give you some idea. They are actually listed in order of my preference as the 181 is quite a good little saw whilst the 236 isn't exactly Huskies best. N
  7. Hi Jon, Sure the mods could make the thread into a 'sticky' N
  8. Absolutely spot on, Once walked across a rock arch to the middle - about 2,500 foot drop, something diddnt feel right, turned around & walked back. If something tells you its not right to go on, it probably isn't. The view was quite good though N
  9. Hi There is no depths these scumbags will sink to, just beggars belief. Dunno how they sleep at night but suspect they do anything to please the shareholders these days. Barstewards N
  10. Thanks, Looks also known as http://stores.ebay.co.uk/sawshop4u/ ? N
  11. All Optimum - The point at which the condition, degree, or amount of something is the most favorable. This may be the wrong term - apologies if so, this was something I was told a good few years back. An 18" bar on my 45cc saw is TBH a fairly dull combination but provides extra reach for going into a Leylandi hedge if the stems arent too thick & your next saw up is a bit on the heavy side for example. A 14" bar seems a good size for cutting speed v useable bar length (to me) hence the term 'optimum' N
  12. Oh yes, I bet that does cut well . Shipping from USA bit pricey for me though, Could always get a standard chain then grind every third tooth off - think thats how you do it - to make semi skip. slight de-rail but think its relevent N
  13. Hi AFAIK .058 skip or semi skip is not too common, However, if you were to obtain .063 rim (and your 28" bar in .063) there seems more choice of skip/semi skip chains available in .063" gauge. Anyone know where .058" skip or semi skip can be found? N
  14. The general rule for optimum bar size is cc divided by 3 so an 18" bar would be a bit slow on a 45cc saw, speed may not be an issue but 13" or 15" would cut better. N
  15. That is a very good thing to do, well done sir. N
  16. Hi The Echo would be my pick from your list, the Husky 236 seems problematic However, the Echo is 40cc maybe too small for an 18" bar, it will cut better on a shorter bar say 14" Perhaps the Dolmar 420 maybe worth a look which pulls a 16" bar well N

    Newbie saying Hi.

Bonsoir et Bienvenue Welcome, from not so sunny (at the moment) France N
  18. Sounds like you have a good dealer there & prices very reasonable. N

    Buy an echo!!

Agreed, My Echo using friend swears by them & be nice to see them & Dolmar make some impact on the other two. N
  20. Hi The Echo 620sx seems to have a following here, a friend has one & swears by it, certainly cuts well & he does over 100 stere a year on it. N
  21. Hi Joe, I just give it the Mk 1 eyeball - seems to work for me N
  22. I really like my 365xt version which does not have autotune - I much prefer a basic carb without electronic control. Also a bargain at around £540 paticually as it is fairly easy to mod it to a 372 by grinding the transfer ports. Does me fine anyway, buy it again for sure. N
  23. Ahh, theyve sussed it & knackered the upgrade path! N
  24. Hi Looks like an updated version of the 365 as Eddy states, power output more or less the same. My 365 xt (non auto tune) pulls up to 28", I would imagine its not too fast on that bar length but its a fine saw for 20" b&c. But will it convert to a 372 as easily as a 365xt? You wont go far wrong with the 365xt if still available & the 365 special is a pretty good saw too. N
  25. Hi I would turn the oil flow up a bit, I try and set it so fuel runs out before oil so just less than 1:1 I would also periodically inspect your bar and dress it if there are any burrs - as suggested by others - make sure your chain runs smoothly round it & not too tight. When your bar is done you can now get a Sugi bar for that mount SUGI FOR STIHL | Sugihara Guide Bars see group 2 for 025/250/251 they are very hard wearing but dont forget to grease the roller tips - some Stihl bars don't have grease holes for the roller.
