  3. And also contention ratio: thats the number of subscribers sharing your connection, its usually 50:1 but with some providers its lower. My favourites are: Andrews & Arnold - AAISP - Home ID Net - Leased Lines | Broadband | Telecoms | IDNET N
  4. Hi Jon, Your internet speed (via landline) is dependant on several factors, but the main ones are: 1 How far you live from the exchange - including external state of cabling 2 Your internal cabling 3 Your router 1 you cannot change, unless you move house. 2 You can fit a BT iPlate or later version whatever that is, if you unscrew the NTES master socket plate then connect your router directly to what is the first (and only) socket on your cabling & do a speed test this eliminates any interferance from anything connected to an extension etc. Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test Its common knowledge that cutting the bell wire usually No3 (orange/white) helps a lot as it is not needed with modern telephones but acts like an ariel for interferance. Google it. 3 You generally wont get the best speeds from a cheap ISP supplied router. Its well worth having a browse of what cuts the mustard and obtain a decent router, the netgear series used to be my favourite to install for clients. Example: configured netgear router to TalkTalk with a few tweaks for client at 5.8km from exchange - BT could not even guarnatee conection to Internet at all. I achieved 5.8Mb/s down & 650Kb/s on the up - not bad result considering distance. Client asked me how come I get better speeds than at my companies office which is 2.2Km from exchange? Probably cos they use BT with a crap router was my answer. As for 4G & eventually 5G that will probably take over from fixed line ADSL connection, paticually in rural areas. N

    exhaust mods

Hi The muffler is restricted on a 250, so the baffle holes can be enlarged by drilling them oversize which I have done on my 250 for a modest improvement. The baffle can easily be removed altogether, but that makes it a fair bit louder & you will need some spacers to prevent the exhaust box collapsing when you re-fit it. Check your mixture once done. If you want to be more ambitous, then its a Spud job & has a top reputation. N
  7. Hi Been having a few database errors last night & again today, like this error http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachments/general-chat/194229d1448867713-arbtalk-glitches-please-report-here-image.jpg I suspect the actual arbtalk.co.uk site is OK but its the connection to the database which may be busy due to users or exceeding its timeout perhaps N
  8. Hi & Bienvenue Stubby is pulling your leg, hes a young un really - there are some good people here N
  9. Hi Surely all you need to do is change the rim to an 0.063" to match the chain for the larger bar? N
  10. Thanks, well done, thats where the real savings are then spending money on the stuff you really need. I did look at the Dolly 420 price though:blushing: Thanks Jon, Goaty you have some good points too N
  11. Hi Eggs, You must feel very dissapointed to discover this, especially as you say he was a good friend for a long time. It just demonstrates what deviant types these sort of people are. However you will always have plenty of friends for some good banter here - even if we dont always agree ! And yes, courageous post. N
  12. Hi A lot of good info in these posts, I agree a 40-50cc saw is probably fine for what you need. The Echo 420 or Dolmar 420 would be my choice as both are very good saws at your price level. Both have a sound reputation for durability & build quality. Thes run 14" or 16" bars well. Its worth noting the bars once fitted are slightly shorter on the 250, I have 14 & 18", the 18" is only just a bit longer than the 16" for the 260 & the 14" bar is more like 13" providing 12" of cut from the spikes - its something to do with the mount - can't recall why but the 210,230 & 250 all take the same style of bar. If you use your saw infrequently then you may like to consider using Aspen or Husky Power2 - both these are premixed fuels so better for your saw & better for you (as already suggested). N
  13. Yes, hard to find optimum saw - my 260 was good but its a bit long in the tooth now - so yes, depends on how much you have to cut & agreed 250 can flood a bit easily but small saws generally have fairly small carbs so they all can flood. N
  14. Hi & Welcome, I have the earlier MS250 version of your saw, personally I wouldnt bother with the cbe version. The easy start no thanks - I much prefer a standard pull start & the 'easy' chain tension thing is an absolute failure so I changed it all back to the traditional two bolt system. Ive modded the exhaust on mine so its a bit more lively now & possibly responsible for ripping off the plastic (yes plastic) chain catcher on a de-rail but it was cheap to replace. Other than that theres the 'flippy caps' I hate these things with a passion, one fell to bits on me although the replacement does work slightly better, some people love them but I dont: they trap dirt in the small sections which ends up in the tank, dont fit easily, looking like theyre home when not so you end up with oil or fuel down your leg. However, in use the saw cuts very well on a 14" b&c & Im happier with it after a few mods although the flippy caps continue to annoy me (call me old & stupid - I dont care, they dont work) it can run an 18" but Id say 16" is the longest. Anyway, its going to be eventually replaced by a Dolmar 420SC which Shavey on here will do you a good deal for probably at a saving over a 251 - a much better saw in my opinion. N
  15. Hi BF is an American thing, Id be quite happy if it stayed there & stick to traditional UK January sales. I think some of the Arb retailers got fairly keen prices & can't afford to take much off unless they want it gone at next to no margin. N
  16. Hi I can see your BF post on Fb so shared it - liked as well. Bon chance N

    Mole traps

Me too, the De-Tauper is the best - goes with a pretty good bang as well may not be legal in UK though If using traps they do have a very good sense of smell so dont handle them (as previously suggested) & if all else fails pour diesel into their runs as they dont like the smell. N
  18. Try Chainsaw bars by Rob D they are very good N
  19. Hi Mr FR Jones, £824 inc with 28" bar Husqvarna 395XP chainsaw (93.6cc) Thats an everyday price from a family buisness as opposed to Le Vendredi Noir N
  20. Hmm, I can see both sides of the argument, 0.2mm isnt much, 0.5 is a bit more - but I think the cutters really should be identical. You say 'The chain is a direct replacement so it's an Oregon 91VXL' If its a genuine Oregon chain, Id be surprised that there is such a difference. As for hand writing on the box, Ive recieved plenty of chains in boxes marked as so from a variety of trusted suppliers. So I think Amazon state that they wont supply fake items - if that thes right expression. So if you still have doubts I would contact the supplier for clarification & advice. N
  21. Hi Another creepy Orwellian surviellance scheme by Google. No thanks! N
  22. Hi I think that looks like an Ace winch, there was a thread dsicussing it a while ago, seems OK if I remember correctly, there are three capacities 800, 1600 & 3200Kg. Am considering 1600Kg version, although Tirfor probably best at a price Also available via Amazon N
  23. I agree, Ive always considered Mitox to be OK & the owner is expecting it to cut like fury? N
  24. I agree, It seems to me too often such saws get sold with a B&C thats way too long, I watched a 171 on 16" the other day & it was painfully slow - 12 or 14 much better IMO. Id also check a few other things like the chain isnt too tight, that its on the right way round - may sound daft but a simple check, that the bar is being oiled - spits out oil when revved, or the roller tip is rotating, if its not a solid nose bar. Assuming the engine is revving OK on no load. However the 'customer support' sounds terrible if your experience is representitive & you really think its a product fault then you should get your money back N
  25. Hi Ian, Looks great, what about using clear wood oils to finish him? N
