  1. Hi Looked at the vid on the tube & considered it until I saw the UK price, once again the £1 is less than $1 brigade will be scratching their heads wondering why European sales are almost non existent! $135 in US - £88 at today's rate but £175 UK - complete rip off anyone finding a supplier with sensible prices please post Meanwhile I agree with SB you cant beat freehand. N
  2. Hi, I signed this a little while ago, could anyone with a Fb account post it in a public area so it gets a bit more exposure? Just an idea N
  3. Hi Hope you're progressing with iMovie if not take a look at the iSkysoft video editor, I use their media converter on my MacPro to convert files from my Humax box which is simple enough to use & heard the video editor is fairly straight forward free trial then 50 dollars about £35 UK? whereas FC Pro is quite a bit more and also fairly complex. N
  4. Hi, Welcome Can you read what is stamped on the bar? if so please post It may be that you have an 0.050 gauge bar running on your Stihl - Oregon/Husky for example N
  5. Hmm, Not sure about the Mac but I do know he has an 044 & a 241 with a Husky bar:blushing: N
  6. Hi, think this applies to an embarrassing number of products, they just aint as good as they used to be, I seem to recall the earlier McCulloghs were real beasts but then got taken over & things go down hill. Friend of ours got one recently from a supermarket (oh no) & went wrong after a few minutes use (despite correct fuel) & they wouldn't honour warranty so 140 euros later he could have bought a Husky 435 or something similar. shame really as what he has runs quite well now. 660!!!!!!!!!!

Hi How about checking the breather from the fuel tank (I dont know a 660 but I guess its similar to other Stihls) the tube may have some info If the breather was clogged then you'd pull a vacuum in your tank after a short time then run out. & if you remove the spark plug & check the colour - it should be a nice biscuit brown colour if you know what I mean - not grey or white too weak & as Spud said about a CC gap - 25 thou seems to ring a bell or thereabouts. Edit Googled spec for 660 seems to be .020" so 20 thou - that right Spud? dont think a couple o thou here or there is going to cause your snag but worth a look as I had a strimmer that cut out like yours, took plug out & big lump of muck on plug cleaned off ran fine but I would have thought it wouldnt have started at all N
  8. Hi, I leave our logs outside in a covered store on pallets see pic below that the wind can blow through to season, a few pallets a the back help shelter from driven rain. In the next month or so I will cut to size, split & stack into the nearby wood shed which is open at one end with an opening at the back to allow good airflow. The cut wood is stacked on pallets to keep it off the deck & nice & dry, never had any problems. N
  9. Indeed! & The genuine one is probably just to grab the sale as whats in the box isnt! N

    357xp lives

Hi Good effort, take it you checked the carb settings or was it caused by no oil in gas? N
  11. Hi If someone trys to sell you a saw outside your house, then I would consider its nicked or fake without going any further. N
  12. Hi Dont forget VAT & Company number if you run a Ltd company for when they reclaim VAT etc. I also have a "if you wish to discuss this invoice please call & telephone mtn or ll" number that way if problem arises you at least get to know about it. Make sure the invoice issue date is clear with a settlement required by on or before date so they know how long they have, keep a check of this as some 'forget' so you need to chase them as its your cash! I used to do this every Monday morning if needed, then theyve got the week to sort it. Dont work in Arb but ran Ltd Co as IT contractor for about 17 years, Good luck with your new venture, its hard work at first in any new biz but i suspect Arb one the hardest. N
  13. +1 from me. The whole training industry (not just Arb) is a self serving cash cow which uses changes to regulations in an attempt to invalidate qualifications - Microsoft & the IEEE for example in other professions. I once had to show a very highly qualified network administrator how to map a network drive at the command line: net use m: \\server_name\mydrive but hey ho there you go sure he must have covered it somewhere! Whilst safety & competence are paramount, all the regs in the world wont stop a white flatbed & a couple of shysters who are prepared undercut everyone & fall out of a tree for a few quid less. Theres no substitute for experience, but in some professions its more about what quals you have than how you apply them. So, Ive donned my asbestos coat (whoops) as the training police will be getting their flame throwers fuelled up - so long as they have a ticket that is... N
  14. Hi +1 from me Perhaps the OP works in Brussels? N
  15. Hi, Sorry but you have the incorrect approach, you're never going to stop cowboys completely - stolen or S/H saws - forged certificates ? One way perhaps would be to make it illegal to employ anyone who does not have the correct certificates & invalidate any insurance claims when it goes wrong, if it isnt happening already as Ive lost toch with what happens in UK. N
  16. Hi Yes, 241 is good saw, economical without too much tech, not as much power as its 45 cc I think, nearly bought one a while ago. WYK has one & likes it a lot so he may post reply. N
  17. Hi I have old 260 & its fine on 16 but depends what you want it to do, I dont cut as much as some people here but do a reasonable bit. 550 & 261 more or less similar cutting speed, 550 maybe a bit faster, holds its revs in the cut better IMO. Just my thoughts as am looking for 50cc saw atm & tried a few, would like 346xp if I can get one as auto tune saws expensive here. 261 has had some issues but hopefully sorted by now. N
  18. Hi iMovie for Mac, should be installed in OS, just spotlight (Magnifier top right) iMovie N
  19. Hi Are they serious? I can get Eau de Vie distilled to probably the same percentage ethanol for about 3 euros a litre. crazy price N
  20. Hi Jon, Good effort for reporting mad driver, sounds like he's out of order & in for a good bollocking. Perhaps he was French - some of them are terrible drivers? N
  21. Made me smile - I had some vision of driving along with rifle held out of the car window like a lance! Perhaps Ive been following 'Wolf Hall' a little too closely! Good hunting anyway. N
  22. Hi Agreed, +1 from me, thank you Spud. Hope the OP gets its fixed, its a nice saw the 365 N
  23. Hi, Welcome Ash is a good wood for burning for several reasons; it dosnt need as much time to season, it burns hot and leaves very little deposit in the flue. Also when you cut an Ash, it pollards nicely as the stump will continue to grow new stems. Its also fairly quick growing, weve seen 3 metres a year but its a fair bit south here. You're fortunate having access to some woodland so take care of it. N

    Dolmar

Hi Yes, I recall the smaller was PS32c certainly looked well made & good price as sometimes the French price at or over RRP! Then they look all surprised when you tell them its cheaper in UK:biggrin:! Think the first saw I used was a Sachs Dolmar many years ago, certainly cut well. N
  25. Hi all, The first lambs arrived this week for our neighbours and it is starting to get a bit warmer at last although we are a fair bit south. N
