Hi, Have you considered an 18" bar for your 250? it will pull it, not marvellously well but may be OK through the timber you mention. I wouldn't buy a 261 or a 362 but would buy a 260 or a 361. However, Id like to think the 261 clutch bearing issue is sorted but consider it should be given a routine greasing. So, that said, my choice would be a 461 running a 20" bar. N

Hi Cheese eaten later at night can produce bad dreams like chocolate. Drinking something like horlicks used to help me or if you drink tea, try the red bush without caffeine types. Im sure it will pass with time, N

Hi I heard Optima are a good brand, think they are deep cycle batteries so more lead available than your average vehicle battery & seem quite conservatively rated, well worth the extra expense. I fully charge my vehicle batteries every 6 months with my CTek charger & avoid excessive cranking if it dosn't start, if voltage reaches 10.5 volts on 12 V battery it will be knackered & wont re-charge properly. I can always jump off my 357 Amp/hr solar battery but never needed it . N

Hi, Agreed, the standard battery is somewhat pathetic for a 2.5 litre diesel, I have a CTek battery charger & it seems to keep batteries in good state of charge, very good charger with numerous benefits including not having to disconnect. N

Hi We have one from Sainsburys works really well, tips (from Mrs NFG): Make sure all veg is chopped up to the same size. Pre-boil any fluid you may use. Onions take a long time to cook so soften them by cooking normally about 3 mins before hand. Enjoy N

Hi, I got a replacement glass cut to size from a supplier on e-bay it was made out of Schott glass, which is proofed to a very high temperature, over 1000 deg C I think. Anyway, good quality stuff so may be worth looking for it. N

Hi We have a Villager A low canopy which I think is 14Kw it heats a fairly large room - 32 sq metres about 2.6 high rather well in our 200 year old French farmhouse , last night we had it on & only burnt 2 or 3 logs, so seems fairly efficient although its not too cold yet. N

Hi, You took your time, I stopped buying/selling with them years ago, in the beginning and early 00's it was fun and fairly trouble free. Then the money rolled in, they jacked up prices, gave buyers far too much sway with being able to reverse charges at the slightest whim & ignoring all common sense usually with a threat of account suspension. The other polished turd in the bowl is their PayPal UK (not) as it is run from Luxembourg not even in the frikkin EU and hence no UK or any other protection. N

Hi, I have a 365 X-torq on a 20" bar & love it, plenty of power for cutting through large oak with relative ease. However, if you are set on a 441 then look closely at the 461 as it will run a 25" bar well (think Jon has one & very pleased) , Ive used a 460 & by all accounts the 461 is a good improvement, but around £200 more than the 365x-torq. The 365 is an older model, but proven technology & although I would like, say a 550xp as my smaller saw on a 15" bar Im reluctant to buy into what seems less proven technology although it was earlier models that experienced problems and Im sure some posters with more exposure to it will provide some very positive feedback - the problem with forums is that usually people post when they have a problem... Being mainly a firewood cutter, I do get a twinge for a 390xp as they sound oh so nice, but a 365 is fairly easy to tweak to near 372 performance and that makes it an exceptional buy in my opinion. Good luck, whatever you decide & look after it & it should still be going in 11 years time. N

Hi There are lots to consider, but first I would ask the potential new employer what notice you will have, if for example you have a three month or 30 days rolling contract then that gives some security in knowing you have work. If they havnt offered something like that then explain thats its a big decision & ask for it as a condition of joining (if you're going to go with them) N

Hi, An MS362 would be £650 ish, If I was buying Stihl I would look at a 460/461 or 660 but they are obviously a fair bit more. I think the 365 will have a bit more grunt over the 555 & as posted it can be easily tweaked for a bit more power. Second hand is always a bit of a risk, unless you know the owner & hence the history plus there may be a risk its stolen, whereas a new saw will come with dealer support & a warranty. N

Hi & Welcome, How about a 365 X-torq with an 18 or 20 inch bar? Its 70cc with plenty of power & proven technology, Im not the only one who will sing praise to it here, but I really do like mine and around £540 from Jonesie? Perhaps only downside is it may be a tad heavier than the newer 560 but I happily use mine all day. N

Hi NLJ Thats one seriously big range cooker there, but fairly simple to fix. Before we moved permanently to France, mice gnawed through the outlet hose of the dishwasher which pumped out all over kitchen floor, got two cats & killed a mouse first evening we had them only 3 months old, brilliant hunters now.
