  4. Hi all, The disposable bottles work out expensive if you weld a fair bit, so I tracked down some 'rent free' gas... I obtained the Hobby Weld 5 mix of 93% Argon 5% CO2 2% O2 mix for thin sheet steel welding. You pay a deposit for the cylinder but no rental - £72 then £36 for the gas. The cylinder holds 9 litres and is equivalent to 23 of the small ones so the maths makes sense. I also bought a decent regulator, extra hose & adaptor to the 4mm pipe - overall its a good upgrade from the somewhat hit and miss of the screw down regulator which I used to set up listening to gas flow anyway. I got mine from Wellington Welders (Gosport) who were helpful sorting out the adaptors etc. Hobbyweld 5 Gas Fill Charge Hope this helps anyone considering changing from disposable bottles but cant justify cylinder rental. Speedtest.net by Ookla - My Results Also if you are a Ltd company, dont you have to put the words: ...A registered company No (whatever it is) in England & Wales & VAT number if applicable somewhere in the header/footer? N
  6. +1 - but motorists are just so easy to catch to bolster 'crime' statistics After all, how many coppers would want to get their shoes dirty investigating a muddy yard? let alone their precious hands?? N

    What saw ?

Hi PM Jon - Mendiplogs, I think he may be after one N
  8. Hi Could that be attributable to the significant number of 261 clutch bearing problems? being as Stihl dont advise greasing. Ive decided to swap my Stihl clutch bearing annually & grease it as per the Husqvarna advice. Just a thought N

    Trio Brake?

Hi Agreed, cant say Id buy a saw with it, looks like it would get in the way, may appeal to infrequent home user though. Probably more useful if it could be retro fitted & removed, for example if you had an inexperienced guy working for you, just to provide an additional bit of safety. N
  12. Hi Jon, Thats no good having to wait weeks for your Land Rover parts. Thankfully, Yodel dont operate in France, for most of our deliveries its a white van which I suspect is independent or UPS. Smaller stuff goes in the post box as La Poste have a universal key. N
  13. All, Just a word of warning if you're considering ordering anything from M&S, they use Yodel as the courier. My O/H bought flowers for her mum to be delivered Friday, Yodel failed to deliver the order. No card through the door, nothing. The tracking stated "mis sought by carrier" what ever that means. On contacting the M&S help line to find out what was going on, the 'supervisor' was seeming unsympathetic, refused to attempt delivery on Saturday and failed to understand why she was so annoyed. A £25 voucher was offered & refused as no use what so ever if they wont deliver timely. Eventually after spending nearly half an hour on the phone a refund was obtained with delivery of probably dead flowers on Monday. I personally fail to understand why an organisation like M&S would use such a rank amateur as Yodel to carry out such an important service, couriers like UPS way better. Avoid me thinks. N

    What saw ?

Hi & Welcome, Sorry to hear of theft, 660 may be to big for what you need but is a great saw for larger wood & as Jon says 461 excellent choice. Once youve sorted out the replacement I would change insurance company as it would seem unfair for the company to decide whats required where a cheque for replacement would be much better. It appears that getting payouts from insurers is like blood from a stone, my son took ages to get a damaged TV sorted & had to really fight his corner. Bon chance N
  15. Hi Personally I think its a complete waste of time - I was going to say 'con' Anyone can join so you dont really have to be rated to get listed, just pay their fee. As for what business it returns, I'm not sure but I've heard nothing good about them. N
  16. Hi, That sounds really good, I think UPS are excellent & always seem to deliver in good time Ill take a look N
  17. Hi Well done, I think once you get a job with the commune you have a good chance of more. Is Liffre just off the A84 en route to Ouistreham? N
  18. Hi I thought Lignum Vitae was hardest that grows in UK although correct me if im wrong, not a native species though. Edit: Just checked & its 4500 lbf on the Janka hardness scale N
  19. Hello & welcome, Biomass sounds an interesting area to get into. Bon chance N
  20. Hi, I couldnt agree more, such utter rubbish is completely vomit inducing, just another way of sloping responsibility onto others, relinquishing accountability. Pick it and run with it? No thanks, Id rather not. Going forward? unless you can stop time this is an inevitability. As for 'we'lll touch base' it makes me clench my buttock checks very tightly! Yuk. N

    New Ms192t

Yep, pinged one in M Bricolage at the weekend for 389 euros, gave me an excuse to chat to the rather attractive sales girl N
  22. Agreed, very useful training. The only person who Ive assisted was an old chap who fell face forward onto the pavement in Laycock, lots of red stuff, but there was a sense of relief/satisfaction Id provided some immediate care on handing over to the paramedics once they arrived. Hope Ben pulls through, looks like really bad fall. N

    Bob Crow.

Hi, I think you state a very good point there, I continually despair of companies that state we've made X many million/billion profit so were going to merge/take over/relocate loosely meaning fire our work force so they can recruit young meaning cheap labour to make even more profit. Who cares about profit? its just a number, profit is good, but too much at the expense of 'la vie' is bad, sometimes I think companies would be much better if they said sod the profit, were going to put the people who work for us first anything else is a bonus. Would that not encourage a good workplace, with good profits? Perhaps the John Lewis model is the right mix? I dont know but there is so much wrong about the way some large organisations operate. Just my thoughts & no, Im not a raving socialist. N
  24. Agreed, Horrible things in every respect; Fiddly, trap sawdust & drop out when you think they are fitted. Wont be buying another Stihl until they realise what junk they are & ditch the design forever. Much prefer the Husqvarna approach as they are optional. N
  25. Hi me please! Great find, would love to buy it but needs to go in a working museum or somewhere it will get used. N
