    New Ms192t

Hi all, I'm fairly sure this is available in France at around 380 Euros N
  4. Hi, My O/H suffers from insect bites, we find Jungle formula with Deet works well Those green spirals that burn & citronella candles/oil also good Lavender & Geraniums also deter them but not practical. Our 84 year old next door neighbour advocates dipping your stockings in Eau de Vie (the 60% abv stuff) as they cant hang on! Bon chance N

OK, I thought it was taking 29 or so pulls every time, agree use easy start sparingly but sometimes it helps. N

    2014 550 xpg

Hi Jon, Cant quite justify a 660 as well, my 365 running a 20" bar does fine, but I'd love a 550 with a Sugi bar as replacement for my 250 although its quite nice now its on a 14" bar (18" bar in the avatar pic) N

Hi, I have a mower that is a b****r to start, however if the choke is set not quite all the way to full it starts fine, but there dosn't seem to be simialr fine adjustment for choke on my saws, its almost on/off. That said have you tried a spray of easy start in the air intake as repeated attempts to start may wear pull cord etc? Our ancient Merry Tiller started second pull yesterday with a spray of start pilot in the air filter for its first run this year. Just a thought. Nice pic of your dogs Jon N

Hi, Nice photo & looks like you had plenty of cutting to set up the auto-tune. Good to see some sunshine also. N
  9. Hello, Welcome There are some good people here & I wish you all the best in your career change Used to live in Wiltshire, worked in Devizes not far from Swindon, good beer Wadsworths N
  10. Hi, Looks like you are just the other side of Niort, not that far away from us, we are near Fontenay le Comte. 40 Euros a stere is very cheap, so it depends what type of wood & how old it is & if that is delivered. If its any comparison we pay 60 Euros a stere for winter felled oak, delivered in August, but it is very good quality. N
  11. Hi all, Cant say Im a fan of making simple things complicated, the problem is they want to sell you the latest greatest thing. Take the HP Laserjet 5 printer for example, its like an 066, they just keep on going Ive seen dozens with over a million pages printed - its fairly easy to strip down & repair - so thats why HP nearly went bust & had to commission a report that told every one Ink jets were cheaper - which of course is utter tosh. So I prefer less electronics & better reliability. If the electronic unit is a tenner then fine, but generally they whack a vast mark-up on such items which is wrong. So when I bought a 70cc saw, I went for a 365xt, the lack of auto tune was a deciding factor & it cuts fine for me. Although the 550xp does sound good. N

    Bing maps

Hi all, As a search engine, Bing lags behind Google, although their blurb states otherwise. I quite like the Bing maps & just checked our ariel view is about 18 months old. I prefer Bing as its the lesser evil, in my opinion. N
  14. Hi Alec, Our neighbour grows Peach, Sharon fruit, Lemons but they go inside for February & a few other exotics so fairly sure climate OK, I think were OK for late frosts, a windy spring did spoil some of the plum blossom last year thus plums were a bit limited. We'll take a look at that link, as Im sure it will help our choice and could get something when were over (would check if OK to take back first) or we have quite a good nursery nearby, Thank you very much for posting, appreciate your contribution. N
  15. Hi all, Were thinking of planting a sweet Almond tree, probably two or three for cross pollination a few questions: 1. Any recommendations on variety 2. About how old before they crop 3. Any advice on planting & yield Would be grateful for your advice, our climate is a fair bit warmer than the UK & everything grows fairly quickly. We still get frost & it can go quite cold in winter ie: -16 for two weeks, winter tends to be sharp & short but summer is long, usually dry & temperatures of 35 degrees and more in July & August. Thanks in advance Noel
  16. Hi Jon, Warm today but clear skies tonight so fire lit & Rayburn still going Good luck in your search for a 660 & I hope the floods are getting cleared up in Somerset N
  17. Hi & Welcome, Wait till you are 55, the sight of a 660 or 395 with a Sugi bar brings me out in a cold sweat! or anything old/new/tweaked for that matter, N
  18. Hi, Nice saw that, some pretty rapid cutting & the mandatory full wrap handle too, got to say I really enjoy this thread. well done all, some excellent work here. N
  19. Hi, Im not a pro, but have a large small holding, I think you need to be as fit as possible, I keep fit by my work. Im often surprised at how unfit some people are, but then they may not be used to working in 35 degree heat. N

    Saving water

Hi, Just re-read your post, certainly not depressed, far from it, life here is anything but. Just bought 10 litres of very drinkable vin rouge for about £15.00 - no minimum pricing nonsense here! & please post the links to the automatic pump you have found, there may be others who want to build their own mini waterworks for toilet flushing, we have already saved about 3 Euros worth of Vendee Eau. Merci et bon weekend N

    Saving water

Hi The pump was given to me hence free & I looked at E-bay for the timer but none suitable, I try to avoid E-bay anyway as postage to France either not available or daft price. Please post the links to the pump so it assists others who want to try this. Thanks N

    Help

Hi, It sounds as if the oil channel from the pump is not mating correctly with the supply hole on the bar. this may be because its mis-aligned or there is something lodged between the casing & the bar or the bar securing studs are loose (unlikely) causing the oil to seep out. As its new, I would return it. N
  23. Hi For the water cylinder you may like to consider a Newark Thermal store, this is an excellent solution for water heating from an uncontrolled heat source. We use a small Rayburn 216M to heat a couple of radiators & a thermal store, produces ample hot water & all done by convection flow (no pumps). The great thing about a thermal store is that you can specify the coils in it, so you could get an extra transfer coil in it so you can use solar thermo tubes to heat your water in summer when Rayburn/Fire is shut down. N
  24. Hi, A difficult job there, well done. N
  25. Hi, The French would just put a hawser round the largest pillar and give it a tug with the tractor! I must say, though we have been amazed by the friendliness of our neighbours & everyone in general, seem to be a bit curious/stand off ish at first but once you show willing - helping fix an ancient cultivator usually gains points & soon youre sat in their cave (male drinking area of dependence or cellar, fairly basic but you know what I mean) sampling a selection of home made alcohol. We also give/swap vegetables, pheasants, rabbits, Eau de Vie, eggs anything else with them for what evers going. N
