I have found Pop to be very good fire wood as long as once it is split and dried it is kept dry . It soaks up water like a sponge . One chap on here boiled his central heating with Poplar .

Spud is your man for the technical stuff but yes , bin the spark arrest screen and open the exhaust up a bit . Will run cooler . You then need to tune the saw to suit . Spud or adw will advise you on that .

Spud has ported most of my saws and every single one is better for it . They run cooler stronger and somewhat louder . Just more efficient . It would be rude not to !

Id get a 372 . Same power as a 576 but less weight .
