  1. Mark, if I can ever persuade my keeper to let me go stalking with him I'll see if I can bring a guest. Wouldn't hold out much hope though, he's a canny bugger!
  2. That seems odd, surely the Sordin unit is already CE marked and the pad and body is the same ,they must have just removed a bit of 'muff' to get the ear piece in. Personally I wouldn't worry about it. iPods go louder....
  3. Was that the arborcom set up? I thought that looked expensive.... The stein ptt one is just an MSA ear defender with a mic and speaker isn't it? Can't see what there is to go wrong. I'd love one but ain't justify it...
  4. He's really very good Aah, I can't hit them! A childhood friend used to pop them off his garden wall with a 177, something I could never understand, didn't seem very sporting..... Unless he did in fact eat them after I'd left....
  5. We bloody do! they're in hand! But you don't want to cheese your keeper off, might get duff birds next season Not a term I'm familiar with but I assume it's not deer, which I think was his intention when he encouraged it I'll just work on the foxes for him
  6. We have our own land with plenty of deer on which come across from Wyre Forest and I have a license for .243 and 17hmr, but can I get any stalking on there....? Can I 'eck! Our keeper won't let me! Don't get a 243 he says, get a 17, you can use that up there.....
  7. My word that brings back memories! I bought a share in a boat years ago with 3 mates, needed work but seemed like a good idea at the time. Was a 17' twin hull cabin cruiser, forget who built it. Had a mariner 50 outboard on it. Trailer was pretty rubbish, so a mate cut it up to rebuild it. Boat is still sitting in a barn on straw bales more than a decade after we put it there We started overhauling the motor, that ended in some fire. It wasn't a successful dalliance into boat ownership. I never actually floated on anything on it. My share lapsed apparently through rent payment for the barn by one of the 4. I believe all our shares lapsed. We only paid £150 each though so not the end of the world.
  8. Jon, I swear you have oniomania worse than I do! Do you EVER stop shopping?!
  9. Pleased to read this! Bought haix but was coveting airstreams!
  10. I know what you mean bless him. He does know his stuff though

Got a near mint full spec 2003 BMW 318ci convertible with 60k on the clock. Want a 110 hi cap tdi or td5 Tried using the BMW for logs and chip but it don't half take some shovelling out, even with the roof down!
  12. I thought the same being owed money is a good thing! Certainly better than owing money anyway!
  13. Mike, stop dwelling on the lack of transport. If you're convinced this is the main problem you have, take out a personal loan for £5k over 3 or 5 years and do an intensive driving course, your test and buy and insure an old Corsa van or something. If you live in the middle of nowhere and don't find work on a chainsaw without transport, how much luck do you really think you'll have doing something else. Stick with it mate, you are starting to make progress now
  14. I admit I think mine feels a bit flimsy, but, no disrespect to fletcher Stewart, I do feel that a lot of the the stein stuff is at the budget end of the market, notwithstanding Reg's inventions which I've not heard a bad word about....
  15. Good point! Could this nest egg not have gone into saving your last business....? (I'll caveat that by saying I know nothing of the circumstances of its demise and by the sound of things it was for the best )
  16. I had BFG AT ko on my old range rover, amazing tyres but a price. Dump some air out and they're great when the going gets tricky. Currently have Insa Dakar on my old disco, also a great tyre. Pretty quiet, reasonable road handling, bit lively in the wet, good off road, wearing ok but not as good as bfg. Dad has general at2 on freelander, cracking tyre, it's unstoppable off road (till it bottoms out) and they're lasting well. My boss has new general at on his wife's disco 4, excellent wear rate, very quiet on the road and excellent handling considering how good they are off road. Sorry, that probably doesn't help much! Money no object I'd have BFG Km2 on the disco..... When I need a full set for the rangey it'll be the new general at....
  17. I agree. Personally I feel that bankruptcy is to be avoided if possible. There's a lad near here, thick as 2 short planks in that he thinks he's being clever in my opinion, folded up his small steel framed building business 3 times in as many years, no one knows how he's doing it. It's a wonder he's not in a shallow grave somewhere to be honest. You never know what's around the corner, having that on your permanent record is very limiting. Morally, unless it's beyond your control - in that you've been taken for a lot of money or personal circumstances have changed permanently for the worse - I think it's a negative thing to do, particularly if it's jut to get out of paying off some debt. I have massive borrowings I'd love to get out of, but I made my bed, and so long as I'm physically able to work and service the debt I feel obliged to do so, at whatever cost.
  18. Could you just tie a couple of maillions onto the handle with a bit of cord to thread the rope through? Presumably the rope is tied to the dmh itself?
  19. Has yours got the rubber booties on the rods Al....? I only bought mine a few months ago and it said this....
  20. We advertised in YP for one year, got one call, one decent job - which led to dozens more decent jobs and many new clients, in fact, you could almost trace the entire lineage of our business growth back to that one advert. However, it was just one call. So we didn't advertise with them again, not to mention they were a pain in the backside to deal with. And this was all way back in probably 2004. We took the judgement that it was a freak event and on the basis that none of use ever used YP, we didn't feel that others like us, who we were targeting, would be either..... It's very sad, J.R Hartley, the French polisher etc are strong memories of youth, YP was an institution, but things move on, to coin a phrase, our fingers did the walking.....
  21. If it's 20m tall and could fall across a lane, surely you could get a mewp to it without having to go into the wood...?
  22. Never from anyone on here, are you sure you haven't opted into something.....? I try to take extra care to find that elusive marketing tick box and make sure I'm not opening myself up to get swamped with crap.... But I'm very anti-crap, I do a lot of spam reporting and hiding on Facebook, we're just bombarded now wherever we go. If I feel someone is advertising too intrusively now I actively boycott them...! No matter how good they may be!
  23. I think he meant the Ropetek retractable lanyard Mark..... Ask Old Mill..., he'll be the first to have one, ropetek whore that he is....
  24. I look forward to giving it a try on the 20th! I did struggle with the hitch climber when I switched to it, mostly for the slack tending, pulling from below a split tail made more sense to me but I don't really miss that now, I tried an o rig and couldn't get on with it at all....
  25. Our neighbour has a 185 which they use for all their ploughing, spraying, haulage, lasting a remarkably long time for them. I worked for a tractor dealer for a year when i was younger and used to do all the haulage with an 1115, 1135 or 185 and redrock or chieftain lowloader trailers. Horrible steering lock, early gearboxes were 'limited', brakes were good, ride was nice, speed was useful. Didn't feel particularly powerful though. I didn't mind them at all. (Hated the 1115!!!!)
