  1. Almost, you have to STEAL the Subaru.....
  2. If he did he was sadly misguided, and with tragic consequences. A 26 year old was killed a couple of miles up the road from me the other night. He'd stolen a scrambler and came shooting out of a junction with no lights on, and presumably little protective gear, at 10 at night and got hit by a car. Some would argue he deserved it, others that it's a tragedy. The saddest part for me is that if he hadn't grown up to be a thief he wouldn't have died that way. Probably. There's only one or 2 bunches of flowers by the road though which suggests he wasn't hugely popular.....
  3. I would have been surprised if I came out anywhere else. And 'upper working class' is 'middle class' Dean. You can't fight it mate!
  4. all VERY middle class traits David. Skiing?! can't get much more middle class than that Dean
  5. Sadly I'm not a hairy arsed woodcutter and I came out as established middle class, same as 25% of the population. Quite a boring result but a bit amusing finding out. I was then having a discussion with my boss (who came out as technical middle class) about who the elite were. I reckoned it would be the likes of Abramovich and Rooney while he thought the Queen and Earl Spencer and sure enough, when I did the survey claiming I earned loads, had expensive houses, played computer games, watched sport and was friends with lorry drivers it came up as being 'elite'. Being skint landed gentry does still place you in the elite though. So there you go, definitive proof that money buys class in 21st century Britain?
  6. That's what set alarm bells ringing. All the hirers I know hang onto stuff till they've wrung every last penny out of it. I don't know of anyone who deals in lightly used gear at low prices, only older stuff refurbished. And it's quite a mixture, seemingly with manuals (easy to get) but not boxed.... Just smells funny to me.....
  7. I just noticed a Jones' sticker on top of the Kombi engine!
  8. Stumbled across this guy selling very lightly used equipment. There could be a perfectly reasonable legitimate explanation..... But right now I can't for the life of me think of one.... Anything look familiar to anyone? Look at the completed listings on the second link as well.... springfox | eBay springfox | eBay
  9. Or even 10 years younger, when there as still some house there Benn... You're right, nothing of mine posted. Don't have a cam thing, and even if I did, there's nothing worth watching anyway, it'd be 'most tedious tree vid ever'. Slow climbing, boring, easy dismantles. Sort of stuff you can see in the 'ladybird book of tree cutting'. Maybe one day I'll do something vaguely interesting, and if I ever do, pinky swear I'll record it
  10. You missed. And it was a much bigger target than Reg's red bag!
  11. It was more Jared noting his EXCELLENT escape route in the faller v hacker vid, reminded me of a forestry backed ash coppicing we did years ago at home. Somewhere along the line we ended up having to get it done by a certain date, and had not left enough time. We started at the bottom of the bank working across and up until the whole lot was on the ground, couple of acres. Was an absolute nightmare to clear up, carnage.... And not for 1 SECOND would I question your judgement Reg, but it did make me chuckle
  12. It's funny, it's one of those things we don't really worry about. We keep them taxed and insured and just ask that when they come back there's roughly the same amount of fuel in them. The soft top is popular in the summer! If we ever get one.... I lent my Disco to a landscaper friend once. He was 'surprised' at the (dreadful!) fuel consumption, being a v8. I think he worked out he'd have been better off staying at home! Mind you, I lent it to another mate for about 3 months, he fell in love with it and commuted in it every day
  13. Hmmmm..... Great Lakes diminishing water levels....? Too much freshwater from melting ice caps causing sea levels to rise? Britain saturated? Droughts in Africa? Isn't it time some big civil engineering projects built some pipelines to move freshwater around the globe as well as petro-chem? Problem solved. Other than how to make money out of it obviously....
  14. I hadn't noticed that. They'll have to re-schedule!
  15. Like you say, that's life. No point getting worked up over it... If you were closer and any of ours worked I'd gladly lend you something We're a bit like the local Enterprise centre. Only cheaper. And our fleet is a bit more rubbish.
  16. Speedy Hire still carry chainsaws. Not sure how silencing a saw would affect it, surely mess the power output up. Not quite the same as quieting a vehicle exhaust down....
  17. Dude! Bad news! Mine's still stationary on the drive. Got flooded last year. Starter seized. Fitted new starter. Clutch bearing disintegrated. Sat through winter. Booked for new clutch. Battery knackered. Then mrs' car developed Christmas tree syndrome so the poor old Disco has gone to the back of the queue. Went to put the other car back on the road for the summer for the wife to use while hers is in. Both Bowden cables snapped on the hood cover locks so all the back seats and trim is now stripped out so I can replace them.... Mate, there's ALWAYS something to do on cars, no matter what they are! Need 2 tyres on mine as well.... It never ends.
  18. Jangle in like John Wayne
  19. Aaah....just like their saws then.... TAKING COVER
  20. I suspect that it's ended up costing the tax payer an awful lot more than you would have charged though with the way it's panned out....
  21. Absolutely, they're even worse than BMW drivers. And I know, I've been both
  22. I like the look of this as well. Is that a high fixed ventral attachment point on the belt above the sliding bridge....? If and when I can afford a new harness I reckon this is the one I'll try first.
  23. You'd have thought that 'checking Stihls web site' [sic] would have maybe alerted him to the fact that what he had in his hands was not only 'not a hedgetrimmer' but also, not a Stihl...
  24. Do you two NEVER clear anything up until you've finished cutting...?
  25. Wear all your gear. Including a helmet...
