  1. You can tell he hasn't quite turned pro yet, the sun wouldn't have the 'H', what with it being a letter they don't pronounce anyway..... AUDI DO THAT THEN? Excellent work though Pat Assuming you haven't been phone hacking....
  2. You wide boy! Nice vid, useful tip I used this for a little while but dropped on an unused Petzl chest harness on eBay for I think 14 quid. Really like it
  3. My 6m OP strop is 'modelled' on the CE lanyard, it's a nice concept. 6m of OP, barrel knot one end, fishermans the other. Short Sirius tied as an eye to eye in a vt, pinto and rock exotica rock-o, ISC snap one end and a short length of Sirius tied into a loop and tied as a 6 wrap prusik with an ISC ring on with a larks head as an attachment point for single line use. I'll probably swap the cordage round soon and get some 10mm Sirius, 8mm OP and a bit of OV for the ring. May even splurge on a thimble and some new matching biners. So a whole new lanyard.... Stopper knots are irritating, snaps are just as bad, great big things....
  4. I've got a lot to learn
  5. Local bobby told my sister that when she ended up across the road the wrong way up just outside Tenbury. At the time she didn't see the funny side. I thought it was hilarious! That must have been one hell of a ride...
  6. Honestly? Multisaver.... For anything bigger than a couple of pulls to access I use SRT For chogging down on spikes I choke single line with a running bowline and use a fig 8 for descent. If I'm working a small tree ddrt I'll either climb up or use my little telescopic ladder then set the multisaver purely as a cambium saver. It's that bit lighter and less bulky to hang off the harness and retrieves easier. The only time I would use the ps is if there's no suitable vaguely horizontal limb to hang it off, then I'll choke on the pulley saver. So in reality ps only gets used when I choose to just for a change.... I like making up lanyards, have a 4m Xtc, 6m OP and 10m+ aeris. Long game is to learn to splice, then I can make up what I really want
  7. 6.5mm is a slightly smaller cal. right? Closer to a 243 than a 308?
  8. The phrase 'no brain, no pain' springs to mind! What a plank! Still, he's obviously a professional sportsman, I noticed he was properly dressed in jogging bottoms at all events....
  9. Bulk of my climbing kit....
  10. little over the top for bunnies!
  11. Going to have a go at paper targets first when the weather warms up. I've tagged along with friends out foxing before so have an idea of the principles, and I grew up rabbit shooting with air rifles so I'm pretty comfortable with small game and vermin. Wouldn't have a clue where to start with deer! I think they deserve better than I could offer just yet. I'll tackle it soon enough though
  12. I reckon that if I miss the kill zone of a fox or rabbit, it's likely I'll have missed it completely. Miss the kill zone of a deer and I could still injure it. I'll have a bit of practice on something less difficult first....
  13. Cheers Dean. That's my plan, there's an awful lot to learn before I go chasing big stuff. Being a country boy the last thing I want to do is go charging off without even a basic grounding and ending up maiming something. I bought a cheap and cheerful Savage / Nikko Stirling hmr package to start me off. If it's for me then I'll spend the money on the 243. Our keeper has not long bought himself a new 243, he's got a Swarovski scope on that. Not seen it yet but he makes a living from it and he's spent some money on it so I'm expecting something special!
  14. I'm not going to watch 45 minutes of it on my ipad, I don't even get time to watch wheeler dealers, but can you précis it for me please Tony?
  15. No no no, I got nothing, I'm very new to it, well, I say new to it, I'm in no position to start yet, I didn't use the 243 entitlement, I bought an hmr to get a feel for it on. I'll have a few years shooting foxes first before I move onto deer. When i do buy a 243 i'll look into the dsc certificate. No rush for now, never done any rifle shooting before, happy to start small
  16. We weren't always like this but for the last 6 or 7 years we've found it works well for us I went to a meeting in London a few years ago with the project team for The Brewery in Cheltenham. I wandered into a typically swanky boardroom full of sharp suits wearing my standard uniform of jeans and cat boots. I did feel a little underdressed I have to admit Got the job though, £700k fit out of 21 apartments
  17. I've not had FAC long, I'm still probationary, I need to shoot with him. He's not just the keeper, he works on the farm as well. He makes the shoot what it is anyway, without him it would be what it was for years before, a bunch of blokes wandering round with nothing to shoot at! I don't worry about it, I don't know what I'm doing anyway, I wouldn't want to go out without him, probably wouldn't find anything if I tried
  18. An, scooter, that dude always makes me chuckle with his neo-nazi style and horrendous genglish lyrical stylings.... Riggedy rock anyone....?
  19. I got the impression that Petzl did a lot of r&d on the zz before launch. This sounds more like a production qc issue. Perhaps someone could take it on themselves to collate all the serial / batch numbers to see if there is a batch which causes the damage. I don't have one and can't really be arsed but don't mind doing collating numbers I suppose if no one else wants to....
  20. Keep on holding tight to your rod then Mike
  21. Amazing work Would love a RIB, wickedly fun toys!
  22. Exactly right. So many people expect things to fall into their lap these days. I hate being pestered but if someone shows initiative and commitment and wants to work I have to respect that and feel obliged to do what I can to get them into work. As a friendly bit of constructive criticism Mike, I find you come across as quite defeatist. That may not be your intention and could just be a misinterpretation of your posts, but this is a great shop window if you approach it right. Quite often you don't do yourself any favours. You had a really positive spell a while ago where you were upbeat and getting on, people wanted to help you through respect for you. Now it feels like you're heading back to a woe is me, 'I can't drive, no one will give me a chance' mindset and are only going to get helped through pity. That's not a good thing. Without being too personal, are you of a generally happy demeanour, or do you find things get on top of you? You could be suffering from a bit of depression, a trip to your GP may be worth making, just for a chat. My earlier post about taking a loan to get mobile still stands. If you genuinely believe that all you need is transport to enable you to work, then it's a sound business investment. I wouldn't generally encourage anyone to take a personal loan, but I think it could be something thing for you to at least consider, you should look into all the costs and work out what it would enable you to earn, if the figures stack up, then go for it, if not, nothing lost.
  23. That's a curious thing....! Catamaran....? What did you build it from? Impressed!
  24. I'm not, bar some nptc tickets, nor do I need to be for what I do, but I quite fancy the RFS cert in ARB, 1 year online, £455 + reg fee through Myerscough. Not a massive investment but I reckon it would give me a better understanding of what I see and read. I dislike qualification for its own sake, but if it furthers knowledge I don't see how it can be a bad thing....
  25. Not treework obviously but when I go out to quote jobs I focus on knowing what I'm talking about and being professional. If people have a problem with me turning up in an (old) Range Rover then I don't want to work for them. If people have a problem with me wearing walking boots and jeans rather than a suit, I don't want to work for them. If people want me to join in a Dutch auction with several other contractors, I don't want to work for them. My time is just as important as my clients, if they're late and don't phone ahead, I don't want to work for them. If they don't appreciate the effort I go to for my clients, I don't want to work for them. I stick by these rules and business is still going well by more importantly, enjoyable. We do our very best, work with nice people and get paid. 6 way tenders go straight in the bin now unless they're for very good regular clients. Quoting properly takes timqe, I don't like wasting my time!
