  1. My tether is 30cm, eye to eye 75 or 90cm 3/2 vt on a pinto, tether is long enough to allow the wrench to go back to neutral before it touches the hitch....
  2. I tie 3/2 on either beeline or OP, not had any problems....
  3. I think that's where it needs to be, inc VAT really..... £75 plus VAT..... Maybe just with one soft sleeve....
  4. Good use of gear already on the harness too, I use a croll and foot loop alongside the pantin for ascent, never re-used it in that application, will remember that, always have a revolver on me anyway...
  5. I can't splice, so this is what I made up.... Pinto allows me to use a simple 13mm nylon loop sling wrapped in 2 layers of heat shrink, cost pennies, took minutes. Only disadvantage is you're limited to available sling lengths, this one is 30cm which is about right for me. Could knock an inch off really. I found the Petzl william biner to be wide enough to accommodate everything and is fairly symmetrical.
  6. New list Arran Joe, Allister, Roy, Jack M Jake Barry Chris Jack E Wayne Ed Brian Paul Max Me Possibles.... Joe Tommy
  7. No problem Joe, let me know then. Be good to have you along
  8. How do you find it with the soft tether...?
  9. Hide the humour a the end and you see who reads the posts....
  10. Any of the textile friendly ones, pinto or ART link or cocoon.... Saves adding in another link...
  11. Presumably you mean a webbing type cambium saver....? There would be wear but no worse than any other wearing surface. Mixing steel and Ali will lead to quicker wear in the Ali. Cord is cheap, why not have a bash at tying one like some of the ones shown....?
  12. I don't think anyone has a problem with differences of opinion, debate is good and how we can earn new things. It's the childish resulting to insults or accusing someone of somehow being a less decent person because of the differing opinions which is the issue in my view. There's 2 sides to every story, just because someone's on the other side of be fence doesn't make it acceptable to be a knob and call them out, or gang up on the side of a perceived virtue. The self righteous get right up my nose..... If everyone shared the same view it wouldn't be a forum, it'd be a greasy sausage-fest.....
  13. Comic relief Rich...
  14. It's the implied profanity Marcus, the c---, starring out comes under the same rules, I got done for it the other day, was a fair cop, I knew you were going to get done for it when I saw it!
  15. Hope to see you there then, look forward to it, I'll email you all the details...
  16. I have a sister 2 years younger, and I have 3 of my own, girl boy girl.... We would have liked another child but we decided that for our personal circumstances more than 3 would be irresponsible. As it is we manage well....
  17. Can I put you down or breakfast then Rupe.....? You can bring our old belt and 3 strand!
  18. AWESOME! Why not use a centrifugal clutch from a quad bike? Should be more or less up to the task and should be fairly easy to graft onto the crank. Engine wise, what you thinking? Something like a 2.5l Ford v6 from a mondeo....? Good luck Rich....
  19. There will be all sorts going on Allister, be good to take some footage to share with everyone afterwards... As I see it, and it's my party , the following will be the main themes of the day.... Social Food Countryside Trying out new gear (zigzag and srtwp the main ones I think) Aerial rescue practice for those who want to Novices getting stuck in. The more people have harnesses, the more hours climbing we can all get in, but not everyone is going to climb all day so I have no problem sharing my harness and I know there are others who intend on doing the same.
  20. EVERYONE will get to climb, that's one thing I will make sure of
  21. Be great if you could make it up Rupe, be really good to meet you. You make a good point, sport harnesses are a long way from ideal, but I got he impression that Jack was in the market for one anyway. I don't think it will become a free training day as such, but it does have a strong flavour of 'taster day' about it which is fine by me. That said, I don't mind setting up a tree and looking after the novices. It'll work out nicely I'm sure...
  22. Fact correction, honeys are selling off the Navaho, the avao is the new one.....
  23. Might have to pay them a visit..... Do fancy a 150t!
  24. I know even less about sport harnesses than I do work positioning ones so I can't really help you on that I'm afraid Jack In terms of tree climbing, you're hanging in it to climb ddrt so you want something fairly comfy, which sport harnesses aren't really, but to stop you hitting the deck it will be just fine. In terms of sizes, my son has a size zero Petzl Aspir which has loads of adjustment in it. Can you get across to go outdoors to try some on?
  25. We have quite a few novices without any gear coming along for the day which is absolutely fine, but collectively we're struggling to muster up some spare harnesses to borrow for the day. Ropes etc no problem. With that in mind, if anyone who does not yet have a harness has the funds to get one in the meantime it would be worth doing, just means everyone will get more climbing time. I noticed that honey's are selling off the Petzl aveo for just over 80 quid plus vat, it having been recently replaced. A friend has one and they're a nice straightforward lightweight sit harness. Alternatively a cheap and cheerful rock climbing harness will do. If you can't get hold of anything please don't worry, we'll make it work whatever happens
