  1. Right, apologies that the trees aren't the main subject, but I've found a few from around the place which give you an idea....
  2. Just been going through some photos and picked out a few, will post them up in a minute....
  3. Ssp is not a lot, less than £100 a week (look up ESA on gov.uk website), the self employed should really consider income protection insurance for this sort of occurrence, combined with critical illness and life insurance. Be careful though, many policies are a swizz.....
  4. Here's a map of the farm, I've circled the trees / woodland where we can climb. The large area of woodland top left is mostly on a very steep bank, but there may be some nice stuff by the river. The line of oaks top right near the boundary with the big wood will probably be the place to start... Will see if I can find a photo of them from when we last camped under them.... The whole farm is getting on for 300 acres so plenty of room
  5. That is unfortunate but not surprising. The planning dept will not take responsibility for things like that, building control yes, planners no. Where in the country are you? I'm sure there's someone on here who can sort this for you.
  6. I'm not digging at consultants by the way, as it's a role I often perform myself....
  7. I agree Tony, but the report I posted a link to was on the planning portal as an approved document written by an architect with no reference to a qualified arboriculturalist. On the face of it he's as qualified as I to write a method statement for protecting a tree during building works. It's not a tree report, it's a method statement and that is simply a list of things you're going to do, not an assessment of the condition of a tree. What makes an arboriculturalist qualified to specify building works? They can surely only advise on impact of said works on a tree?
  8. Whatever you like lots of things to try. Not entirely sure it did actually mate
  9. Saw this yesterday on Facebook. I did suggest that for legal reasons it would probably be better if she didn't regain consciousness while I was still on the scene.... Still stands!
  10. I think in this instance this is all that's needed Paul, I'd take a punt at it first anyway. OP says they only ask for a method statement, not a full tree report. There's enough info in that link to crib to write one for this job. I don't mind rustling one up for him if it helps, only 15 minutes work, if that...
  11. Yes. I don't have climbing tickets. I'm quite capable of doing it though. I don't have CSCS, but I'm still a good 360 driver. Tickets and insurance just allow you to work to a different level, and it's what everyone goes for eventually if they want to do the nice profitable interesting work. Leave the gypsies to their kind of tree work and the sort of people who employ them. Who cares? There's no harm in a business starting off doing the basic stuff without tickets to earn the money to afford to pay for tickets, insurance etc.... It's the way it should be done.

Neat Reg. looks an amazing place to work as well.
  13. First question, what age are you? Second question, what have you been doing up to now? You can go self employed and work direct or sub to other firms, or you can get a job on the books, it's much the same as any other industry in that respect. Good luck with everything
  14. That maybe sounds different from what it actually is....
  15. If you have any climbing gear at all Allister then bring that along, otherwise no, not really, just clothes and boots you can climb in, and cash for he pub...
  16. Here's one.... http://forms.southkesteven.gov.uk/Planning%20Assets/S11-2072/Additional%20Documents/tree%20method%20statement.pdf Seemingly done by an architect, not even an arborist. Flick through to the method statement, that is all you need. Personally if I had one conditioned as part of an application I'd do it myself, i wouldn't even bother referencing the bs or workings out, that's all just padding to justify his fee to his client I suspect....
  17. No problem at all, no pressure, no time constraints, just an opportunity to have a gentle climb and try different gear.... send me your email Chris
  18. Think they are just an importer.... Just like we have Pruning, Folding and Pole Saws, UK - Silky Fox
  19. Ed, I'll ad you to the list, only 15 minutes from Bewdley... Pm me your email address and I'll send you the details nearer the time
  20. As said, you need new kit, it's your business, second hand saws are a, an unknown quantity, unsuitable for sustained commercial use and b, you paid new price and that's what you insured, YOUR NEW saw.... Give them the stihl catalogue and highlight the current equivalent of what was pinched, because that's what you need.
  21. £250 to £300 ish
  22. I think it's more useful for spiking up a stem really....
  23. Neat, wouldn't have thought of doing that.... Mind you, I do love my multisaver....
  24. So that I can keep track of things, so far I think we have provisionally on board: Arran Joe, Allister, Roy, Jack Keep signing up lads and lasses!
