  1. As hodge said, drill the heads off, remove the blade, place a suitable sized nut on the remaining part of the stud and weld the two together. Wait till cooled down be fore trying to unscrew as the heat from welding will cause the stud to expand in the hole.
  2. I have heard it mentioned on here but can't remember who or what thread. So not an isolated problem. From what I recall the exaust port directs the hot gas in the direction of the chainbrake lever causing it to become soft?? I don't actually own one though so haven't experienced the problem first hand.
  3. It's not good news, let's hope they find a solution soon. Such an important service they provide. Stay safe people.
  4. Small please. Am I the only one?? Just to be awkward.

Can't believe what you said , there's a time a plaice for that.
  6. Yeah it's not class 7 then. If i were you I'd ring them and ask. It will affect the way they test the brakes so if in doubt ,tip it out.
  7. They prefer them fully loaded or empty so they can put a weight in the back. They do this on tippers so the tyres grip the rollers better for the brake test. Is it class 7 test?
  8. Apparently the BBC are releasing a new programme on BBC3 called "Siamese Ducks" They're starting with a double bill.

Remember you'll need to store it in nets.
  10. Nice to see it finished, saw it when you were working on it near Cullompton
  11. From what I've seen there's been more damage caused by yesterday's weather than there was in the January winds round our way anyway.
  12. Damage seems a bit patchy round Devon from what I've seen, just on the higher ground? Had to try 5 different routes to work this morning, mainly flooding and it's just started raining again.
  13. Just got in,absolutely soaked. Anyone on here been working on the Washfield road near Tiverton? Looks like a right mess from what I could see!
  14. Oak before ash here in mid Devon. Anyone up north Devon?
  15. Just spent the last two hours changing track rollers on 12 tonne hitachi in foot deep slop and sideways rain.wet
  16. As treemonky said get yourself s proper splitting wedge and get new hickory or ash shaft for your splitting maul.there's a good chance the maul head will be hardened steel,I was always taught not to strike two hardened metals together ie two hammers as they could shatter, or you'll just wear out what your using to hit it. Making sense? Hope it's stopped raining for you anyway
  17. Oh yeah, I'l get me coat... Taxi!!
  18. Blumin hell ! Not good, bit unusual any ideas as to why?
  19. As gensetsteve said, how long you got left? From my own personal experience I'd advise you to stick at it and see it through,I made the same mistake when I left school, went to collage and didn't like it so walked away and got a job but I regreted doing it and so will you I think in the future. If your in second year you should be through the worst of it and your resulting qualifications will make you more employable even in arb I would imagin. Sorry it's not the answer you were looking for but wouldn't want you to regret it in years to come knuckle down and see it through,I got a second chance you may not. As for arb related courses I ain't got a clue sorry
  20. Forgive my stupidity but what would the benefit be of running 3/8 insted of .325 or is it a convenience thing?
  21. Metal stitching would be the ideal solution as others have already said but we had a 135 block welded while back and it lasted a few years, then started leaking again. Ive done a bit to IMT machines over the years and although they are copies of the equivalent masseys a lot of the parts fitted do not cross match ie water pumps etc so I'd be surprised if the blocks are the same we have a few engines stripped down for bits at work, problem being that the bits off the engine you have may not fit the d152 perkins block so ideally you want to look for complete engine or repair the one you've got. There are also slight variations of the perkins engine depending on what it was built for ie massey 135,cat fork lift , industrial etc
