  1. I've done a bit to them in the past,to be honest Its not the best tractor Massey have built, they give a bit of trouble. The hand brake is internal and will most probably be knackered, brake band wears out if I remember rightly(been a few years since had one apart) it can be adjusted through a access plug in the left hand side of the transmission but don't drop the socket in the gear box! What you planing on using it for?
  2. I had a horrible feeling that may be the case,I understand your pain:thumbdown:
  3. The pressure of the clutch plate cover should cause the linkage to return the cylinder to it's inward position, there may be an assistor spring of some description depending on wether the thrust bearing is constant running type or not. Sounds like the linkage requires adjustment or the cluch cover or release mechanism is excessively worn. Job to say without seeing though.
  4. I've never worked on a mb trac but I'm assuming you have an external slave cylinder operating a mechanical linkage? At a guess I would say the slave cylinder is stuck out at full travel and not being forced back by the linkage. Once the system is full of fluid and clear of air there is no way of displacing the fluid because the cylinder is already at full travel. Try adjusting the linkage and make sure it's free. Only thing I can think of. Wouldn't have thought from the symptoms you describing that there is a fault with the master cylinder.
  5. £1500 sounds a bit steep! I'l do it for £1495 if your looking for quotes
  6. My first saw was a ms 260, still got it, rest of my saws are husqvarna. When the 260 gets retired it will be replaced by a husqvarna, think Stihl have lost their way with these newer saws. 2 years ago I would have brought a Stihl every time. Come to the dark side... You know you want to.
  7. Good call Rob I'll be following this as I was about to ask the same question. Be curious as to wether the initial slower cut is more noticeable on 3/8 also.
  8. Cheers everyone. I'l leave it be and keep an eye on it. Thanks.
  9. What sort of budget do you have? 2 or 4 seats?
  10. That would make sense! I'll leave it be then. It's never touched the tank from what I can see just looked like something was missing.
  11. Whilst carrying out some routine maintenance I've noticed this bolt protruding unusually close to the tank, is it a manafacturing fault or should there be something on there??? Considering just removing it as it dosent seem to serve any purpose unless I'm missing something???
  12. Nice one, just having a look at the schedule now thanks.
  13. Forgive me for jumping in on the thread, does the 5cube rule apply to felling standing dead wood? Not for resale.
  14. Thanks for input guys,I've got no previous climbing experience at all. Im assuming the training during the cs38 wont require any previous experience?? Although I am hoping to have a go before hand. I know of a few people who I'm hopeing to persuade to come and give me a few pointers to start with, just need to start getting some gear sorted. (I'm keeping a eye on the "lovely climbing gear" thread.
  15. A big one! Then a bigger one to get that one out.
  16. Basically,I've been wanting to learn to climb for several years,I'm not currently in the arb industry, more for recreational purposes at the moment with a view to possible career change in the future. So, I'm booking my cs38 and need some advice of what to expect and what I should do to prepare for it.Any thoughts or advice appreciated.
  17. I work 7 days a week, got to take the work when it's there. I think it's fine as long as you enjoy what you do,if you don't it's not good for you.
  18. His arm and his face! Lucky man.
  19. Only 4 bolts holing them on I think (maybe wrong!) only thing I could suggest is securing the bolts, tack of weld or some sort of security bolt. Any thing to slow them down.
  20. Keep us posted with what you find Jon.
  21. Found a fencing staple in a lump of beech with a new chain on 3ft bar first thing yesterday.
  22. Edit. I have an 1.4 carb engine out a 205 ,think their much the same. Head might be of use to you?
  23. Not a lot to fit a new belt and try it but I'd be surprised if it's ok. Wip the rocker cover off an the cam out, undo the bolts a bit at a time so as not to break the caps ,be sure to mark the retaining caps sequence, once the cam is out you should be able to check the valve heights.it's a fairly easy engine to work on. DIY job to repair if you have to.
  24. Head gasket could be blown into an oil gallery causing excessive crank case pressure. Compression test before any thing else. If it's still running is a good sign, might have caught the problem in time.I've got a picture of a bad one,but you prob don't want to see that...?!
