  1. Wanted to go but had work commitments herd there was a lot of gear there but the quality of it was varied, fair bit of junk, but that's to be expected I suppose. Just off to see a mate that's been there all day, probably got all the junk and wants it fixing now!

    Jokes???

Hahahahaha!!!! That's brilliant! Particularly like the spud comment!
  3. Hi Jon, we've been suffering similar problems with a customers 90 300tdi,lasting about 5-6 months. When you change them do you remove the complete shaft or just the half your replacing the uj? Check the alignment of the joints, think they're ment to be staggered to reduce vibration(can't be sure without checking). Also over greasing when new causing the seals to pop out creates problems,I tend to fill the caps with grease when assembling with the grease nipple out and refitting grease nipple last but not greasing with grease gun, keeps the seals in place. Failing that try a uj from landrover they seam to last a bit longer. Seems from everyones posts that some last, some don't. Might be worth checking the landrover forums?
  4. Suzuki 250 RMZ (not mine) made a funny crunch and bang when attempting to kick start... Not good. Common fault with these earlier 4 strokes apparently, and yes that is a Kawasaki symbol on the casing, they combined forces with Suzuki when they started developing 4stroke motocross bikes, not a good combination. So if any one has an old Suzuki/Kawasaki 250 engine kicking about??haha!
  5. Not on my bench but under it,going through some old gear and found my late grandfathers old jonsered 49sp,fuel cap has gone missing, turns out uncle lost it whilst using it some time ago. Anyone know where I can get one from? new or used, like to keep it up together it's absolutely mint condition otherwise.
  6. Good point. I had thought of that, honest...
  7. Yeah sorry Rich I'l let you take the credit for that great minds think alike n that I'll have to be quicker next time!
  8. Either a two stage ram (if you can find one to fit but doubt it) or weld another pair of pin holes brackets closer to the ram? Make it so the pin can be swapped between the two positions depending on what your handling with it.
  9. Check out the viscous unit first, I've had a few fail on various vehicles recently, one was a 56 plate ranger.if that don't turn out to be the prob and you do end up taking the head off make sure you get it sent off for crack testing if you can't see any obvious problems, had similar issues with a 6 cyl petrol landcruiser, stripped it all down couldn't see no visible defects with gasket or head, sent it away and found hairline crack.Keep us posted with what you find.
  10. Also is the engine actually over heating? Might sound stupid but could be faulty temp sensor. ?
  11. The viscous unit is the bit between the belt pulley and the fan blade unit. Sometimes they can play up intermittently, best time to check it is when it's over heating but checking when cold should give a good indication. You should not be able to spin the fan blades freely.
  12. Viscous fan unit? How much resistance on the fan if you spin it by hand?
  13. Bugger, that's bad news. Might be worth putting on flea bay for spares and repairs as a non runner depending what your local scrap yard are offering.
  14. If you have access to known good injectors aswell swap them and see what happens, might be worth a try before taking to a garage. Keep us posted with your results,
  15. If one injector fails and leaks fuel pressure on a common rail system the rest of the injectors won't receive enough pressure to atomise the fuel. Hence the White smoke and now it not starting. Assuming it is a common rail system, im not familiar with the vehicle in question.
  16. Could have an injector failed,if it's common rail system it won't hold enough pressure to make the rest work. Garage job either way.
  17. I was driving out to see some family this morning when I spotted what looked like a bear in the trees, made me look twice before realising it was a stuffed toy, made me chuckle though.
  18. Good point Jon. If you are looking at a 12 speed one try and find out when range selector spring was done last or if it's ever been done. Full transmission strip down job if it fails, the spring it's self only costs a few quid!
  19. As agg221 said:thumbup: whats it on out of curiosity? Whats the access like?
  20. No mocking intended,or offense taken I hope? I've been there, made that call,no pictures unfourtunetly, thanks for sharing the pic,a lesson for us all
  21. MF390 or similar, but might cost you a bit more if you want a loader aswell?? As a few others have added the 3000 series masseys have a few issues..... but it's all irrelevant if you only do 200hrs a year and the price is right.
  22. "alright boss,I've had a bit of a bump in the truck... Nothing serious, looks worse than it is really, just need recovery truck with a massive winch"
  23. It'l be fine for that. Sorry if my first post sounded a bit negative. Trouble with my line of work is I only see machines when they're broken. Feel free to ask if you need to know any thing, been I while since I touched one but I'l try me best.
  24. Pretty sure there 540/1000 on pto may be optional though.
