  1. Thanks, their budget was 2k. So by the time I'd got the timber, done some drawings and delivered it ( 1.5 hours away) wasn't a whole lot of carving time on each one. Not complaining at all. But just interested in what others would charge/ achieve with a similar budget. Definately felt like i had to just whizz through these and not get caught up in the details ( like getting the hands tweaked and spot on). Would have liked to spend alot longer on them!
  2. Certainly are. Cant wait to see what they are like in a decade.
  3. Fair enough, but makita do do blowers pole saws chainsaws strimmers etc all on battery. Only tried their saws which a good, heard good things about their hedge cutters etc. If you have a few batteries and charger you're half way and the cost of thr bare units is nowt
  4. Get one you wont look back. Not had it ages but seems to be holding up fine. Thanks for your price, thats what i am charging so pleased i got it about right.
  5. They are surprisingly good. Obvs not quite a ms200, but carving with a 10 or 12''bar is totally fine, wasnt tempted to pick up my ms200 carver once. I keep reaching for the pull starter everytime i pick it up though. I risked some non original waitley 6ah batteries as they have a 30day no quibble return ( i was pretty sceptical, but are more than half the price of makita ones) and they are totally fine 2 months in, same if not more power ànd last noticeably longer than makita 5ah ones. Also the throttle is not just on off like other electric saws which makes carving possible. The little duc254 is dream with the r7 detail bar as well.
  6. Thanks, no time left for tinkering with it and not doing anymore so that's just how they will be!
  7. Burred bar or worn bar rails id say. If it starts and runs ok prolly compression isnt the bother
  8. Done this for Rothbury this year delivering tomorrow, will get some pics once installed. Bit of a rush- wanted to do more work on them all- they are pretty simple detail wise, but already done more than i am being paid for time wise. Be interested to know what others would charge for this sort of thing? Carved the lot on makita battery saws apart from major blocking out and sap wood removal. 6 batteries (used in pairs) and you never have to wait for a charge. Really enjoyed no vibes and low noise
  9. So will a saw in tree ticket refresh basic felling ticket? Tedious beyond belief
  10. Whats the craic with fisa requirements re nptc refreshers etc. I thought that if you had done a nptc ticket within last 5 years i refreshed the lot i.e rigging ticket would refresh you aerial rescue and chainsaw as it uses both?
  11. The scafells are wicked and have lasted me well. Not really tries the lites or the airsteams, though some reports of airstreams not being as durable as they once were. Dont know if true or not. Id check out the pfanner's and andrews also. Prolly best to go try them all on tbh
  12. Pretty good of you, not sure im on board myself, but appreciate your honesty
  13. They might be ok, but i chinned my erbauer drill in a few months, bosch replacement is still going strong, had to for 10 years.
  14. Dont think its in the uk yet. But keen to have a go when it is
  15. Not used any but noticed this also. Same with the blowers. Is suspect the dearer ones are the ones to go for
  16. This. You can get all garden tools in electric now
  17. Whip the cat out if it and drill the exhaust when you get the chance
  18. Atleast they snap before you have the displeasure of sharpening them
  19. Eyes and face in general came out very nice after burning! Nice one
  20. Almost certainly, the double battery back handle saw is pretty pokey
  21. If the veg oil has gunked up the oil pump, its likely the worm drive on the sprocket has stripped. Also worth checking this if cleaning the breather doesnt work
