  1. Sounds great. Pics please! Just out of interest did you fit the standard mk3 2l engine with a turbo or have you changed the engine out for a 2lt?
  2. Tbh its pretty slow and low gears on hills. But always gets you there! Its always a bit of shock getting back in it after driving around in the other motor which has a 3.0td. Have occaisonally had to stick it in low box on very steep hills with chipper and load on, usually only if i have met someone coming down and had to stop. But i love it. Its a 1996 and in 2 and bit years its needed a uj, brake pads, hand brake adjusting and exhaust tightening. Have thought about changing engine for a 1kzte or 2lt but dont reckon they are as reliable. And the 5l ( na 3litre) are like hens teeth. Is yours a double cab?
  3. Just out of interest whats the price tag on the swift?
  4. Tbh as a kid i know which one would be more fun to play in
  5. Nah, im too grumpy about duchy and his castles. Really i should go and have deeks does look like a good project.
  6. Depends on the branch/bit of tree i reckon. I have used stainless coach bolts and threaded bar ( toolstation) and also hung bits off hooped 8mm wire rope ( going through fat placcy pipe so not to dig into tree) to somewhere up above if there us anywhere. I have also created a sort of brace with 2 threaded bars and some 6x4's to hang a beam off - my idea was to not create a complete constriction in cambium as with a choked cable etc. You can buy slidey tree house mounts but they are crazy money All depends on the scale of yer project. Pretty easy to make a post going to ground in places where no suitable limbs
  7. Mmmm my gut feeling is if its low hours, if you speak to right electrical magician the generator side of it will be fixable. What make is the unit? I know stephill are pretty helpful on the phone, worth a call to whoever made it ( cant remember if you have said.)
  8. Engine def running up to proper rpm?
  9. Is that at 100v or 240v? Can you get a multimeter on it?if 100v probably drill would be running slow
  10. Depending on what you did to tune it. Factory settings are about 1 and 1/4 turns out from fully in on the h and l screw. This get the saw running if its what you did to it thats stopped it! Good luck
  11. Thanks for all the advice
  12. Well ended up buying a caged 8x5 idespension tipper. Squeezes on but dont look too well balanced ( either way input it on was a bit back heavy. Will do for know bit will be keeping an eye out for a 10 or 12 x 5 plant i reckons
  13. Real pleased i just bought a tracked chipper and tipping trailer now. Ye gods
  14. Will that be 80% of net or profit?
  15. I like the simpicity of paying/being paid a flat day rate and taking the rough with the smooth. As long as its generally not long days with the odd early finish im happy.
  16. Oh, get a winch too, you'll love it
  17. Just wack the mud tyres on. I wouldnt bother with swtching between. Decent muds dont behave too badly on the road, i have had joy with bfg muds, cooper discovers, kumhos. Insa saharas were like ice and i constantly got punctures with them, personally if your towing a bit on A roads id get a decent branded non remould. Cant see the point of a 4x4 without muddies on really!

  19. Me too! Cant seem to get off the kleins though. Very positive and secure feelling. Distels feel comfier, but endless gaff outs
  20. Ok thanks for clarifying. Nothing new about thissun i have though, think itll be knocking on 20 yr old
  21. How have you found the safetrack 150/35s? It seems good, if a little slow in the feed rollers but good crushing. Maybe an underlying issue with mine. From a measure up i thought i would need a 5ft wide trailer?
  22. Thanks for comments so far everyone. Just to clarify; it will definately be a second hand trailer, no budget for new!
  23. A few mates have said they never use their tracked chipper off the back of plant trailer like a tow behind, too annoying and far from back of vehicle and high so that put me off plant trailers as as far as i can tell that would be the main benefit.
