  1. Got a 242xp on the bench. Tank Breather leaking badly. Fitted new oem one. Same! What is it with these? Supposed to use some sealant? What am i missing? Its pushed home hard as i can
  2. Major air leak usually detectable to the discerning user. What spud says, and listen out for erratic idle or it real screaming
  3. Have you found the newer ones less of an arse on with the carb/idle/trigger start?
  4. The 18v one is much much lighter and mint for reductions but you wont be burying the bar often with it. Fine for the odd 6'' cut but a bit slow. the 36v top handle is very noticeably more powerful, faster and more torque, and longer cut time, probably more like a ms190t rather than a 200t like
  5. Its arrived! Seems mint!
  6. Thata good news!
  7. Ordered one. Will let you know how it goes. 233 squids Makita DUC256Z Twin 36V Li-ion Brushless 25cm Chainsaw Body Only ROVER.EBAY.COM Part Number: DUC256Z. Brushless motor. HS 1-9, I 1-56, KA27-28...
  8. I like mine, ace for carving, small trees, chipper saw, coppicing, hedging etc. Nice and light and nimble. Defs a 12" bar like. Prolly wouldn't buy one new given the price though compared to what else you can get and certainly not as an all rounder. Wouldnt really cut the mustard as your only saw. Doesnt come out to play much, now i have battery saw though.
  9. You'll be well pleased when you do. Very zippy after
  10. Yes have checked throttle opening fully, linkage is doing its job and appears fine
  11. No history on the saw, bought second hand, a few different shades of orange plastics so probably atleast has a few bits replaced if not rebuilt. How to destress bearings? The saw runs ok, cuts strongly, just not very zippy, as fast to pick up as id like, and sounds like it has a bit more to go but wont. Ive had a new fuel filter on but nor checked the lines, suppose it could be a kink or something, but my gut feeling is its something inside the engine, as no real difference in rpm with the bar off. How on earth could it still rev fine with the h needle turned right in? Yes saw seems ok to pull over with the plug out. Very slight turning a 50pence feel to it but i dont think any more than i have felt on other saws that have worked fine.
  12. Thanks spud, idle is fine so possibley not this. Failing to achieve more than 13k with no bar. Piston looks fine, slightly carbony but not scored. Ignition module is 537 16 21 01 which a quick google says is for 345, 346, 350 etc so probably correct. I guess a vac test is next but seems unlikely and air leak from symptoms
  13. Ah yes. Think you can open up the exhaust crimpy edges and mash it out with a drill. Id assumed that has been done in the pic
  14. Thanks spud. Dont know what the check valve in the carb is? Compression feels good so havent checked with a gauge but will have look at piston. Will get numbers off coil and look them up check its the right one. Also will run it with no bar on see what its doing
  15. Enjoyed that, especially the cheeky few limbs boshed out perfectly judged to not hit the house.
  16. Having a pretty rad saturday night btw!
  17. Had a funny few hours trying to sort a 46cc 346. Got it from a pal with the carb in bits. So ordered new carb kit and fitted. Noticed the idle was set v high and the h and l screws were at about 4 turns out, so new carb kit in, got it to run but not revving out proper, leaned h and could get about 12k and it ran fine with the h jet right in! Wierd. So pulled carb and reinspected, checked l and h screw werent swapped, gaskets on right, metering arm set right, changed the welsch plug etc etc. Checked flywheel gap, heat shrinked a nick on the kill lead, cleaned fuel filter. Its a black ignition module, so not limited? Seems alot better but not getting above 13k. Idles fine unless you bump it and it then will cut out. Seems fine, but clearly something a bit funny. What have i missed?
  18. When i did mine i only noticed louder and very much revvier and quicker to pick up. Definately needed h screw richening. Maybe you're concerned about emissions regs spud?
  19. I want to know
  20. Yes it makes a very noticable difference. Id definitely suggest a tune up, as could well be running pretty lean now. When i did mine it was over revving alot
  21. How long have you been using it tim? Mine definately felt stronger after it had seen a good few tanks, maybe a few weeks work. I bent the chain it came with as it got snatched in a chog early on, and replaced with oregon ( cant recall which ) so cant advise on best chain in comparison. Found mine fine, but a bit unremarkable. Have drilled out the cat of the exhaust and opened it up a little and retuned and made a decent difference. Reckon mine isnt far off my 200 if not the same. I have both and pick the echo up over the 200 for some reason! So dont reckon its thay much slower! Bought mine in 2016, no issues with it all since then
  22. Chain tensioner looks pretty weekend warrior
  23. That would be amazing! Very very kind of you. Where abouts are you again? Cheers
  24. Not surprised on a sunny day like today you found outside jobs rather than digging inside! Was up to my elbows in silted cundys around the house today. Sadly alot of it has been "repaired" by previous owner which seems to consist of smashing it all to bits every few meters and watching the hole fill with water and leaves. Still keen to get over and see your solar setup and pick yer brains a bit. Got that to sort out next
  25. I will hate covering them up too matty, but perhaps hate it less than lifting them and digging down 15", then doing a slab witha mixer ( no truck access for concrete truck) etc etc. If it were up to me it would be left alone until id put up with it for a few years and then decide whether its too cold/damp. Whats the plan with your floor?
