  1. Thanks for replying👍 041 mount (OREGON) could you elaborate on this please?I've attached Cannon guide to saw mounts.
  2. Just read the service manual👍 It has a rim sprocket so shouldn't be too difficult to swap to lopro. Couldn't see any info on the bar mount though.
  3. I'm tempted, does anyone know if there's options to change from .325 to 3/8 lopro? Have they got rim sprockets? Anyone know what the bar mount is? I'd want to fit an S1 carving bar.
  4. I can definitely see you've developed from your first one. Russ, your style is emerging mate 👍
  5. How do these people get employed in the first place? Is there really such a shortage of properly qualified individuals? I'm not qualified to comment on the issue you've raised but as a layman so to speak what about sounding the other trees with a hammer?
  6. Stihl bars are about £70 I think, plus loop and sprocket. They're not the best bars but I'm sure someone would snap it up. Another option is to switch it back to original setup and keep it as a backup, and sell the carving elements
  7. The saw New is about £270 atm so good used one maybe £ 150? £200 with the carving setup. You'd get more on eBay I expect
  8. Date confirmed, Saturday 07/05/2016 Venue in Southport. This will be bigger than last year but limited to 15 carvers. P M me if you wish to carve with us. Cheers, Simon
  9. Hi Mark, there's another thread on the CS 501 SX (ms261 equivalent) I'd be interested in taking a look at one if you get any in mate.
  10. Cheers Mac, looks to be a good contender. Anyone know what mount it has? It would be replacing an 026 and that's got the S1 mount.
  11. Anyone know how it compares on price?
  12. Hi Scott, bit of a hike for me but could travel if there's enough of a budget. There's a great carver on Anglesey, Duncan Kitson. Might be worth looking him up.
  13. I've used bosch for years, they're pretty good. Recently bought a dewalt variable speed which is really handy when full speed is too much. Should be able to pick one up in your budget.
  14. Cheers muttley, not right time for me to invest but would love one. I really like the planer and sander attachments. Do you know if they're developing a bandsaw attachment? Seems like it would be possible ?
  15. Out of curiosity, what sort of price is the Lucas slabbing mill?
  16. Just been catching up on arbtalk, Russ if you need a hand I can spare a day mate, just give me a call. Sounds like you've had a lucky escape.
  17. Happy New year Ian, nice ambitious carve, keep pushing your boundaries mate 👍
  18. I've done lots of these. Winter felled hold on to their bark best. I cut mine with an Alaskan mill so they are all same thickness and have little to no wobble. They can be seasoned but you need to watch out for mould if not stored correctly.
  19. Thanks Darrin, Not usually mate, although I had some Adam & Eve throne chairs I was going to hire out for weddings, but they sold before I sorted it 😄
  20. Thanks a lot Shaun, he's a bit fluffed out. I'll try a skinnier one next time 😄
  21. Interesting job this one. Windblown cedar planted back in the ground on a steel base about 2 foot from where it grew 😄
