  1. Haha yes! Well it does represent the sea and sky, they've called it the "Our Coast Our Future trophy"
  2. Hi Carrie, thanks. It was based on a previous piece from my sand erosion abstracts that they liked and then tweaked to compliment their logo.
  3. A bit of fancy abstract art, I really don't enjoy sanding.
  4. I've had one for about 4 months and yes it's a great jacket, fully waterproof and doesn't feel like you're wearing a waterproof. The hood is a nice handy feature easily fitting over ear defenders or helmet. I would however recommend trying on for size rather than guessing on the web, I'm usually a medium but the sleeves are long so had to downsize to a small. We'll worth the £80-90

    Saw logs

Hi guys, I'm organising a carving event in Southport on Saturday May7 and I'm struggling to get logs sorted. Has anyone got any leads please? Only a few weeks to get this sorted and I'm starting to lose sleep over this😨 Cheers, Simon
  6. Thanks Paul, looks like I might have to go the lantra route. Am I correct in thinking that lantra courses have an expiry date unlike nptc ?
  7. Thanks Paul, very useful info👍 In regards to the mewp it will probably be the tracked spider type. I'm a little concerned over the CS 47 or equivalent as I only have CS30 which covers me for carving. Is it possible to do the new level2 without working through the tree felling and climbing tickets? Thanks, Si
  8. Apologies for my lack of understanding but can you please clarify these CS quals ? I'm a carver not a climber but will need to use a mewp on a big oak in a few months. What course will I need to take in regards to mewp training and will I be nullifying my insurance without the correct CS quals?
  9. Hi folks, I'm organising our second chainsaw carving competition "Carve Up The Coast" in Southport, northwest UK on Saturday May7. We have a number of craft activities and demonstrations but I'd really like to see some traditional green woodworkers showcasing their skills too. Anyone free on this date want to join us?
  10. I'll take a look when I'm next on a laptop 👍
  11. Thanks, the sycamore might work. I need to check with my mate but if the chimney breast is 56" then 4 ft would probably do it. Could you pm cost if cut to 8" please? Cheers, Si
  12. Thanks Will, what dimensions did you go with? Also, what fixing method did you go with? Si
  13. Haha oh yes. Only info I have is chimney breast is 56" I guess something about 5 or 6" x 8-10" would be suitable.
  14. I've been asked to source some timber for a mate. I've got a few logs that I could mill but I suspect it would really need to be kiln dried. They're looking for either salvage beam/sleeper or alternatively an interesting looking slab/beam. Location north west, Southport,Liverpool area. Anyone near here got anything? Cheers, Si
  15. Not totally happy with her but enjoyed the journey 😄
  16. Roughed out a face today but got the form wrong. Pared it back and flipped out a zombie
  17. Profile of the face in second pic is really nice Russ, ya need to get those forelegs right still 😉
  18. I'm organising this carving comp in Southport on May 7th. 4hr main carve plus 30 minute speed carve. Speed carves will commence after lunch and be auctioned straight after. Main pieces to be auctioned at the end of the event. Please share this with anyone who might be interested, it's a great opportunity to buy some fantastic work. Please support us and make this a successful event 👍 Thanks, Si
