  1. It just adds character to the old boards. Where they expensive?
  2. Don't look like worm holes to me. Just ware, staining. Possibly reaction to ferrous metal. Ie someone using a grinder nearby and spraying it
  3. .
  4. Threads like this are the reason I seldom post on here anymore. It's just a nice guy asking for some help /advice not a lecture. If you dont want to help don't post. If I was anywhere near you Wilde I'd gladly have a walk round the woods with you. Looks like an interesting place. Good luck with it.
  5. Can't say how awesome that is! Top job.
  6. Need more seasoned ash than i have to finish a job. Anybody got any for sale or know somewhere to get it that isn't ridiculous prices. Sizes isn't too important as all needs machining into 115mm X 10mm boards. Closer to Milton Keynes the better. Cheers
  7. Unlikely to ever be a prize winner. Why don't you just replace it yourself.
  8. Don't know at the moment. Guy thought it was oak. Now he knows it isn't, and I can't be sure what it is, then not sure how useful it's going to be. Certainly won't build the porch he wanted to build. If he does want to mill it I'll keep you all updated.
  9. Would the bark on that be quite corky and thick, because this tree wasn't so much?
  10. No idea Steve. Could be but I have no clue how to recognise one or the wood characteristics.
  11. I'm still thinking tulip as first guess. What do people think to that. Never seen one that big though
  12. Yeah. Next step was putting a saw to it but didn't have one with me.
  13. Probably around the 30"mark diameter I guess.
  14. Pretty sure it's not Ash. Thick bark. No evidence of bark beetle. Wrong colour timber. Thx though
  15. Someone asked me to come and look at an oak to mill. It's not oak. I'm thinking tulip or pop of something but don't know. Any ideas? Cheers guys
  16. Might even be his mums house or something. Go easy on the guy. Always nice to be nice.
  17. Thanks alot for this guys. Will strip it and see if the pot will clean up and go from there.
  18. Hi. I have an 024 that runs ok but has a scored piston and cylinder. Thinking about replacing them but can't find oem parts. Any suggestions on which parts to use? Cheers James
  19. I like it. Lucas mill rips it up no problem. I'll be interested if it looks good once felled. Cheers
  20. I would say Bar mis alined to guide rail. Not that familiar with the m8 but I would be spending some time with a straight edge and shimming some bits out.
  21. The issue will always be chip removal. Long drag on a 5ft log to eject it while the tooth is making more all the time too. I've always been happy with the cutting speed of my lucas slabbing attachment on big logs. It is a bit slow on small logs but that is my fault for not using different chain.
  22. If you get rid of the root ball, tidy up the stray branches, I'll mill it. I will happily leave you a slab and all the sawdust. [emoji4]
  23. I was under the impression that the dedicated slabber cut at much the same speed as the slabbing attachment, just with a slightly bigger Width of cut. The advantage of the slabbing attachment is being able to switch to the circular blade and my favourite thing is my planer head for the lucas. Planes wide Slabs really easy and quick.
  24. Top work. Very nice Hope thick is the top?
