  1. some very nice "flameing" through that
  2. dependant on size and time of year, anything of around 2ft in length deserves a wide berth, especially in the hot weather when there most active, seem to be more common in the heathland and forest type areas of the country, I used to catch them when I was a teen working on the farm, a little respect for them goes a long way, and according to new research, the "harmless" slow worm, or grass snake, is actually venomous as well
  3. woodmizer making a killing on the prices, list price stateside, around $3250, so back to the dollar = pound game again, would be interesting to see the finish cut quality though.
  4. "If the activity is commercial it must meet the HSE's requirements for PPE HSAW etc. ", no it doesnt......there is NO LEGAL REQUIRMENT FOR A PERSON OPERATING THERE OWN PROPERTY TO COPMPLY. to many of you sheeple have been brainwashed by big brother, your own property, you can do what you like
  5. it sounds very much like the power pack has a basic three way valve fitted, in one position the oil ciculates through the system bypassing the outlet and return circuits, in the other it goes to the outlet, and the retun comes back from whatever is connected in the circuit, if theres nothing in the circuit, selecting this will deadhead the pump, and either stall the motor(good thing, safety wise), or damage the pump,( usually caused by too big of a motor on the pump, bad component selection). and as Wefixit says, theres no such thing as zero back pressure in a hydraulic circuit, you put pressure into something, its got to go somewhere when it comes back out
  6. its no propa nato tea unless its made with the big teabag out of the 10man rat pack, and brewed in the big rectangular pot(an old ammo box), and served in the black plastic mug of the bottom of the water bottle...lol....nowadays a nice ASDA chai with lemon, refeshing and just "nice"
  7. 15 or 18mm steel cable above the first crotch and a steady pressure from the cat, it'll cut like a sapling
  8. instead of buying redex, just add some ATF fluid, its as close to redex as makes no difference
  9. where did this no motorway come from?, the restriction on motorways for agri machines is only if they cannot maintain a MINIMUM speed of 25mph, which means tractors, cos there limited to 20mph under the C&U Act, unless they have suspension on ALL wheels and brakes on ALL wheels, its the suspension bit that get the conventional tractor every time
  10. its the automatic "send help" beacon, new fit for all landrovers
  11. read the HSE guidlines
  12. this is the same as saying "we are doing you for speeding, cos you car can do more than 70, so we'll just put it down you were doing 100, that be ok", same reasoning
  13. of course you can tow the empty trailer, as long as it doesnt exceed the GTW of the tow vehicle, the rules apply to ACTUAL weight, not the possible weight, VOSA have had there fingers rapped for trying to bring prosecutions based on the carrying capacity rather than the true weights
  14. if you do not drive for hire or reward, Ie a private hgv, like a motorhome , or historic, or privately owned horsebox, you do not require a CPC, also testing a vehicle, or driving a fire engine, there are other exceptions, the usual with certain details, they are deliberatly vauge in an effort to confuse the user......DVLA and VOSA at there best
  15. it was a slightly sarcastic dig at speed, most tractors these days are fitted with 40,50, or 60k gearboxes, the RTA actually states that the speed limit for tractors (defined in the construction and use act) shall not exceed 20mph, its been the same since 1964 ammendment! any switched on traffic bod will have the driver for speeding, then tot up the offences for tyres, trailers, and anything else under the latter, so one stop could loose your licence. (ie, a 4 wheeled farm trailer being towed at between 30-40 mph, fitted with tyres rated at 25mph, 3 points a tyre, and up to a grand each in fines, things like that)
  16. barnsley bob, I think you'll find most of the RTA sections dont apply to agri trailers below 20mph, and as tractors legally cant exceed 20mph they dont apply, and you dont build new trailers, you repair old ones......even if the only original part is a wheel nut, its a repair....how do they prove otherwise. there is NO test for a non commercial trailer.
  17. in these temps, why arent you using type A's, it is allowed
  18. there are currently 3 different standards for wiring trailer plugs, and none of the above rules apply for agricultural trailers or towed equipment
  19. 49 = power, 31 = ground, 49a = signal out, c2 = warning lamp.
  20. for mossie and cleg bites, press a hot teaspoon onto the bite, the heat kills the protein that causes the itching, not that hot it burns you mind
  21. it becomes a fitness and stamina thing more than an age thing, If you enjoy working outdoors, and are reasonably fit, the stamina will come I've watched a lot of youngsters, fit young guys, but by lunchtime there burned out, while us older ones just keep ploding away, If you feel you want to do it, just do it, dont let anyone ever tell you your too old
  22. eddy-t, a question for you, do you feel the need to renew your educational qualifications, or your driving licence, or any other certificates you have sat an exam and paid for, so why should cs be any different, or is it the fact you keep forgetting how to operate the eqiupment. I find it funny that all the sheeple on here jump to comply with the "ticket collector" attitude that seems to be coming into the industry, in fact Iknow of "training" companies that have stated " if you can come up with something we can charge for creating a ticket for, we'll pay you", I'm afraid the whole country, not just this industry, is falling under the spell of "your all stupid and you need us to tell you what to do" brigade, as I've said before I mourn the death of common sense, and as for your quip about first aid courses, I struggle to understand how a 1 day course on how to use the "green box" thats on the wall that everybody is expected to do has any relevance to the industry......Oh I've sliced myself with a chainsaw......best i stick a plaster on it.. doesnt work Im afraid, I actually had to go outside the UK to find a sitible trauma treatment course that actually contained some teaching that was relevant, till the whole ticket debacle is taken on board, and run by some body who will actually regulate it properly, and not just leave it up to "profit driven trainers" to police I will keep shouting on about it, there is too many "trainers" out there who, I'm sorry to say, dont have a feckin clue..........rant over, take out of it what you like, as I dont really care what you think
  23. any of the fullsize american built pickups will easily do the 3.5 tonne thing, there built to work, not like the so called 1 tonne things that have been foisted off on us ( the yanks rate all of these at 1/2 ton), and as a bonus there towing capacities are huge!!!!
  24. round up your choices, find somewhere that has them, drag your but along and try them, its the only way you'll find something that you like, and are comfortable working in
  25. do you renew your driving licence every 5 years......same thing....con by the trainers to steal your money, fisa is even worse, big boys toy box, and they dont want anyone else to play, bunch of greedy barstewards
