  1. I think with the kind of investment in kit you're proposing you'd be better off investing in a C+E Licence. Then you could choose from a far greater range of trucks etc without having to modify, meaning you'd probably save the money you spent on training but end up with more skills and a better rig
  2. This, but by choice, not necessity. Wanting to work even if you don't have to is fine. Having to work if you don't want to shortens your life I reckon.
  3. Gotta have a set of knipex cobra's in the shop! Otherwise you've not got a workshop, just a fanny-about shop.
  4. I reckon it might be a hiab 650
  5. I can beat Qld (just). I quoted a job in Tasmania a year ago...
  6. This is what my experience is too, so we use these:
  7. My old car used to have self levelling shocks, but needed no external air. It used the up and down motion of the suspension to pump itself up? setting off with a heavy trailer/full boot it would throw sparks off the towbar, 100m down the road it looked like empty! pretty magical things they were. It was a straight swap from the standard shocks. No idea if such are available for all vehicles though?
  8. Quite a few morus have been hit by very late frosts. Normally they don't suffer much, but early leaves+late frost...
  9. Kindling! Hazel presumably? I've never managed to keep any over summer. perhaps if you'd peel them and are able to dry them properly before decay sets in?
  10. Engelbert strauss do both decent shirts and have an embroidery/printing service
  11. the most amazing thing about american engines! how on earth can they manage to only get 145 bhp (and I presume that was when it left the facory, a few will have escaped by now) out of such a massive engine! I've similar power out of a 1.4 3cyl
  12. Unfortunately not, it seems. They'll just peel it to have a look, so even if you leave no tools behind the damage done is massive. I'd go with a pickup, with a strong steel toolbox bolted through the bed to the chassis
  13. I'm currently working in Germany, been here for about a month and I've had quite enough of the Germans actually:confused1:
  14. The left wing does not support you? what made you think so? It's kinda nice to know you feel supported though, makes me feel good:thumbup1:
  15. Something that's been puzzling me: You seem like the idea of the mexican wall (coz all mexicans are parasites!) But presumably you don't understand the very basics of our solar system, the equator and angles of sunlight varying with how far north or south one is from the equator?
  16. Vans are not secure, at least no more secure than a tin of spam. I'd love to have a 504 pickup again!
  17. I've been trying the reverse. I'm running chrome, no antivirus software of any sort, no firewall etc and I cannot get this issue to occur! I can make it happen on other websites (CornHub.com (the maize lovers website) is pretty much a guaranteed one) but never on ArbTalk
  18. When the tipper is all the way up, does the motor change sound instantly or does it do so gradually? When lifting, does the back start moving straight away or does it take a few seconds to move? If there's air, the air will need squishing to whatever pressure is needed to lift the load before the back will start to tip, this will take time. If there's air, the pressure relief will likely not be triggered as soon as the ram is fully extended but will continue to squish the air until the relief pressure is reached. Easy checks to do.
  19. I'll say it then before matelot does: It's because the person using it is black! It's so obvious!
  20. So in the front of that van is a massive lump of pig-iron, giving the trailer a healthy dose of noseweight, hence no trouble towing!
  21. One Wife, Livid!
  22. Looks like that big lump of steel sticking out the back may have had something to do with that...!
  23. Get one of those cans of air used by people that tinker with delicate electronics etc, hold it upside down and spray the shaft (wear gloves) it'll cool it down to -40 C or so as the propellant evaporates. The to get the bearing hot safely, wrap it in a wet (but not dripping) cloth and stick it in the microwave. It'll heat the water before any funky stuff happens with the microwave-metal thing. Also it means the temperature of the bearing will not exceed 100C so it won't damage any seals, proper bearing heaters heat to about 110C. With the shaft cold and the bearing hot it'll go on a lot easier!
  24. I think you'll want a .325 - .063 bar
