  1. We should be more like Russia... Yeah, sure, good plan... Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. One inch is the best thickness for any timber, provided you want 18-20mm of useful timber thickness.... What do you want to do with your cherry should dictate how you cut it Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. Goats will only eat trees if they have a mineral deficiency. For a goat to realise it's full potential it needs the perfect balance of minerals, vitamins, trace elements etc. But due to the fact they are goats they're not getting what they need. Tree-eating in goats can be cured fully and permanently by a single (high velocity) injection of lead. Sent from my E5823 using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. If you hang 100kg on a rope, pass it up through a pulley and down, it needs another 100 kg force on the other side of that pulleyto equal the force. So if you're hanging 100kg from that pulley, the force pulling down on the pulley is 200kg.
  5. Fixed that for you...
  6. Please explain, coz I really don't get it? Yes parents often tend to think they'd give everything up for their offspring. But I don't think that emotion ceases at puberty? So my question remains, why is killing kids so much worse than killing say middle-aged people? after all, all people have or had parents?
  7. How have I answered my own question? Yes I currently feel I'd give my life for my kids But my parent would for me And theirs would for them... And are you just being childish or is your name Dan?
  8. Not really. I merely stated that one just doesn't know until such a time occurs. But now, from the comfort of my comfy seat, kids safely asleep, I'd say that if such a time came.... And please don't call me dan, my name is Daniel:001_smile:
  9. Seems reasonable. But... I would not have been fine with it if somebody had shot my grandmother at 94.
  10. Just so we're clear (as this could matter to your future it seems) which deity are you appealing to?
  11. So then do you think the "cut-off" point where it becomes less horrible for a person to die is after they've had the chance to recreate? What about raising the kid(s)? would that not be part of the cycle? My family would argue grand-parenting is part of this cycle too?
  12. I don't think any of us can answer that without actually being in that position (it's all good saying what you would do, but in the moment such preempted decisions don't hold sway) Obviously I'd gladly give my life to save my kids, when they were born I was infused with a love they can never break no matter how annoying they can get. (I believe this is by genetics/design otherwise no person alive would have had more than one:biggrin:) But equally, my parents would give their lives for mine. So how does age matter?
  13. My kids know me, all of me, warts and all. My question wasn't specifically in relation to terrorism, religion or this weeks events but the general outcries this week just made me wonder (been working alone a lot) about the logic of this reaction. Also, your post seems to imply it's worse killing girls than boys? Or was is just that there were more girls there than boys? (i'd never heard of the artist performing, not a clue about her audience demographics)
  14. So, suppose there is something wrong with me (I know a few things are, none of which are relevant) and it really is that simple, please explain it to me in simple logic that even I can understand? And no, I call racists racist.
  15. Unquestionable logic:thumbup1:
  16. Well, yes please. If you've a simple and satisfacttory logical explanation I'd appreciate it.
  17. Without descending into unworthyness, you've not made a single argument about why killing young people is worse than middle-aged ones?
  18. So am I, that would be so awkward!
  19. Wholly innocent? haven't met my kids then Life is a struggle, quite a lot of hardship even for the lucky amongst us. As I said, I'm near 40, so got another 40 left perhaps (if the deity of choice wills it) so is there an age limit where it gets less bad for a person to die?
  20. I dont see how my reproduction is relevant? But yes, ive two daughters. Id be devestated if anything happened to them, but so would my own parents if ought happened to me, would my death (im approaching 40) be any less troubling?
  21. Perhaps a bit controversial, but that seems to be the norm on this thread: Why is killing young people worse?
  22. It's the Dunning-Kruger effect:sneaky2:
  23. Prison places are available for rent elsewhere. For example, in the Netherlands there is a big surplus in prison places due to historically low crime rates (don't ask how that happened, something to do with a liberal left-wing regime?) and they're available to hire. This decline in the prison population has been continuous for a while now, and despite the Norwegians and the Belgians already renting as much space as they neede, there's still about 3000 cells empty....
  24. A painted stihl, 660 I reckon
  25. Rust is lighter than carbon fibre. But look at all that glass! only the back window on the DB is gone?
