  1. Thanks....I'll have a look. All out of stuff to cut, but I'll see if I can give it a go. Many Thanks Bob
  2. Hi All, Recently ( in the last few weeks) my saw won't start when it's hot. I've tried to "reset" the carb by starting from cold and running for 30sec on choke. Then switch off and start normally and run for 30 sec+ with no effect. The only way round is to leave it ticking over for ages which I don't like to do. I'm a hobbyist so the saw gets plenty of use in the winter weekends and an hour or so a day in the spring/summer /autumn and all weekend. All so far with out issue. Saw purchased 2016 Is it a fixable defect or back to the shop? Thanks Bob
  3. I'd have a look at http://www.evergreenext.co.uk/ If you are in the Southeast. Probably does national but haulage might kill it. Bob

    Pine.

    Location?
  5. Hi Mitch, Surely, depends on what you are doing. Personally I have a 25" Stihl on mine as regular for anything big. Also have a 36" Stihl on a mill with a skip chain to slab stuff. I have read lots on here with people using a 18"/ 20" as it has a nice balance and plenty of go. Probably get shouted down but the only other bar I am likely to buy (for the 660) would be a "Sugihara" from RobD i.e. Mr - chainsawbars.co.uk IMHO it's a top saw and requires top quality... Bob
  6. Build a Holzhausen. I have made a couple of these in the past. Very effective. Only need a small bit of cover for the top...platic/tarp. Job done! Bob random pic off web
  7. I use a metal garden rake....very effective.
  8. Many Thanks Dan.....perfect.
  9. Cheers Bill, I had already found this...I should have been a bit more precise. I was after the PDF version. I can get an owners man from the US Stihl site but can't find a working link to the partts manual. Or one I can use in the workshop away from wi-fi. Thanks Bob
  10. Please can anyone help with a parts manual for an MS440 Thanks Bob

    MS261 v2

No probs here... Got a 2015 261CM with no issues. Always careful to take tension out of the chain after use as the manual says. Bob
  12. Hi Does anyonwe hire out machines? 240V single phase? A week or two is all I'll need. Surrey/Sussex area Dorking / Horsham Bob
  13. Chains were marked on some of the areas I have been. can't say for defo everywhere. Most structures or crossings will have a tag with a measurement. I hope it helps. Bob
  14. 1/4's and 1/2's are posted. The rest of the posting that I have used has been in chains. So you'll get 80 chains per mile. 20 per 1/4 etc. Each chain being 22 yards or arond 20m. Good luck
  15. I can't get a match on that number anywhere. Cheers though.
  16. I had 261 spikes as : 1110 664 0501 and the screws to attach: 9022 341 0983
  17. Love my Salomons. 4d GTX - sounds like a car, but comfy as slippers. Taken me all over Brecon and Cumbria

    Small pro saw

I rate my 261 with 16" bar. Got it Oct 15 and it's worked faultlessly. No heatet handle. Smooth, light and easy to start. I am wary of the bearing issue but the manual says about releasing the chain tension when storing...which i do. No probs -fingers crossed- Bob
  19. Very Much like the idea of Mistajays pallet sawhorse. That's a nice temporary setup that can become firewod when the job is done. Brilliant.
  20. Get field gates blocked all the time. Always for people "going for a walk". When I say there is plenty of parking at a farm cafe 150m away or a pub 750m away they look at you like you are mad.... "we just want to go for a walk" apparently not that far though. Let alone where they are parked being private property. re:moving cars. Told by a ex PC mate of mine not to. It's a potential minefield ..incl criminal damage etc. Not interested in the aggro. Plenty of that around already.
  21. Highly recommended by the chaps from Hereford I believe.
  22. YouTube Stihl Jet Saw...... it's the first choice. Maria Urbina (?)
  23. Bonkers
  24. I got an MS230 of a mate that had worn out anti-vibe rubbers after using something like "Screwfix item no. 5256D " I think having the saw attached encourages people to force the saw through the job.
  25. Here here An old bar and spare chain saves the day.
