  1. Hi @Stere **Correction** I ordered a 500ml bottle. I've used 300ml i.e. 10 litres on milling -MS660- and 5 litres on general logging up firewood --MS261- . No noticeable difference. Smell/smoke same as HP Ultra. Inclined to buy more based on no appreciable difference. Also experimenting with RYE Oil's chain oil. Sticky as the Gator ET30 that I've used and not as expensive as Stihl's.
  2. Get one you won't regret it. Ease of adjustment....and accuracy seem to be key to your rack setup. You'll save hours I'd reckon. :-)
  3. And long may it Last!!!!
  4. Dag-nabbit Missed a bargain.
  5. Rather than petrol...how about carbon monoxide... got a petrol genny or something you can duct the fumes in? It's not fast but deprivation of Oxygen does it for most things.
  6. I got "autotune" and "better than 50"? All the rest was double dutch :-) His other vid says 881..... The 881 will not come out with an injection engine like the 550i. Also the carburator will not be chip operated, so manual tuning will still be possible.
  7. Hi Mark, I get you. I could weld something up... In the past I would have. Might have to dig it out. Trouble is. I'll overcook it and end up with something so heavy it'll defeat the purpose. Then I look at Sttein trolleys and their copies and think...I can do that for under £400. Back to sq one.
  8. Hi Mark, Logs to the mill is less problem - luckily ....I don't want to go the forklift route. If I can get them on the trailer (ifor LM) usually Vermeer/ Avant / Telehandler whatever.... I have dollied up a log-deck to get them on to the Logosol or I just roll them off and mill with the Portable. As here... Then the awkward one that had to be milled on the deck as I couldn't roll it any further. This is the one that caused my too heavy to lift boards.
  9. Hi @Kav I was looking through ebay for Carpet Trolleys and came across the Arb trolley..or copy. Hadn't considered it till now and it does , or could have multiple uses moving some of the stuff in the round. Thanks for the offer of Avant help. This is a hobby for me and doesn't generate enough for me to pay for labour, but the offer is much appreciated as is the Arb Trolley inspiration. Thanks Bob
  10. I'll give it another go. I was convinced it was me wining one side up more than the other as other boards were perfect.
  11. @Tippin Alaybye Sorry I wasn't clear. 3mm difference end to end. 30mm one end 33mm the other. one "click" of the bed adjustment. My fault. I wasn't paying attention. Other boards were faultless. The lack of setup time on the first cut too. Really chuffed. Made a log-bed (?) to load straight from the trailer... Trailer gets loaded by telehandler or forklift....unload is me and the log-turner.
  12. Hi @Tippin Alaybye Yes things are going ok. I've made a few mistakes when I haven't double checked my height adjustment and I've had a 3mm difference in the thickness.... Apart from that it is chewing through a load of Lebanon Cedar.... Bought a new chain from @Rob D and it's a belter Thanks again Andrew. *** Boards with "X" are wonky...3mm but might be benches or seating. Bob
  13. Cracking....Big wheels will help me over the ground....off to Ebay I go. Thanks @trigger_andy
  14. I have a couple of dolly's in the garage. They aren't much good on loose gravel. Many thanks though. Bob
  15. Like a Carpet dolly/cart I get it. Yes the 40kg ones are manageable...but these are just a bit too much. Closer 70kg. I'm not a big chap...around 70kg myself.
  16. 2.5m x 70cm x 50mm give or take.... Oak,
  17. Hi All, Milling, for me, is a hobby. Recently I've been gifted some large pieces and I've hit a small roadblock. Q: I'm looking for an inexpensive way of moving slabs from my milling area to the air drying area. The route is reasonably flat but the surface is road plannings with the odd shallow-ish pothole. 25m ish run. I work on my own and some of the slabs are 40kg -70kg. Has anyone got some suggestions? Budget ...like to be under £250 but can extend for the right kit. Cheers Bob
  18. Work in progress. 1982 Z1100 shaft.
  19. Got a mate often referred to as T-Rex. Not because he is aggressive but has short arms ( and deep pockets) ... often gets used jovially when in a round someone steps back or ducks out.....back in those distant Pre-Covid times. :-)
  20. Sorry to ask the silly question... Does your provider allow your contract ti=o make International Calls? My mobile contract defaults to No. Saves the difficult conversations at settlement time. Bob
  21. I was going by the specs.... I'd normally use Stihl Ultra HP as it's their highest spec oil. When I use my 660 its generally flt out on a mill. Stihl Spec says JASO-FB, ISO-L-EGB Mano Fully synth matches it. Prepared to give it a go and will probably end up mixing closer 40:1 500ml MANNOL Scooter 2-Takt Two Stroke Engine Oil Premium API TC+ JASO FD WWW.EBAY.CO.UK MANNOL Scooter 2-takt Premium. A universal high-quality synthetic new-generation engine oil for modern high-load... Back to red pre-mix!
  22. Thanks for the heads up. I've ordered a litre of their fully synth and will give it a go. Fraction of the price of other stuff.

    Saw upgrade

Cheers Les. Good to hear. I remember my bits taking from end of Oct to late Dec. Last Q: Chap who sells them....is he an eBay chap or local to you? Bob

    Saw upgrade

This is good to hear. It would be very interesting to see how it stands up to your use. I bought a "parts" kit a couple of years back on a black Thursday sale and it hasn't been as good as a saw as I'd hoped. Although I've read the complete saws use some superior quality parts instead of the Hutzl kit parts. Are you running at 25:1 oil ? Please keep the updates coming. Bob
  25. Hi @trigger_andy Have a quick look roughhewnuk he's been a busy chap. Good on him.
