  1. we would get hung if certain people knew what we've rung up for logs. Shhh don't tell them.
  2. I've got the oxdale se400, had for a couple of years now. for what it is,no real complaints. It had to have a new oil tank fitted as one of the weld seams split but done on warranty, It lacks a bit of grunt for dealing with real knotty pieces or tough pieces of dead elm etc. counting the days so I can get a tractor then get a good PTO jobbie.
  3. I have found this on a Syc we dismantled before Christmas. I think if the tree had been in leaf no one would have noticed.
  4. Ha, if I hear banjo music I'm off!!
  5. so I am over in Czech Republic for 2 1/2 weeks visiting the wife's family over the holiday's. 9 days down (and going slightly stir crazy) and I manage to wangle 2 days soft wood thinning for a friend of the family up in the mountains. Cant wait to get out the house and into the woods. should be an interesting experience, not sure what to expect though?
  6. what about those t-max jobbies?
  7. What do i want to do with it? -Pull stuff! -Usualy if I get the landy stuck it has a chipper or the 3.5t trailer loaded attached to it. -Pull sticks over / roadside when occasion arises. -General shenanigans
  8. want to pimp up the disco a bit with a winch for when it can be used instead of pulling out the tifror. (and for pulling it out when i try to get the chipper as close to the tree as poss). What's the good the bad and the useless? I might be interested if you have any kit lying around for sale?
  9. Thanks for all your replies and enquiry's guys. This has now all been dealt with, Thanks again Brett
  10. Yeah, and that's a really well looked after machine! My a530 just turned 200hrs and I've used a tracked 540 a lot, Ive worked with most sized wolfs and the equivalent jens is a far superior bit of kit.
  11. I bought myself a car for the wife.
  12. My guys are on salary. we start at 7:30am sometimes we don't finish till 5:30 - 6:00 but other days I send them home at 2. they are there when i need them at no extra cost to me and i return the favour by sending them home early when they break their backs to get done by lunchtime. It works so far but I dont know if this way would work if I had more than 2 full time guys.
  13. I'd go for the sugowaza just purely because it'll look bad ass strapped to your leg! Silky SUGOWAZA 420 ( XL teeth ) | Silky Saws
  14. In the background is our 105 with cage sides just standard ifor jobbies, we have thin ply to infill the sections for chipping into. Best one i seen had custom chip box that slid into the existing box section brackets.
  15. hi chaps, We are doing a job soon near Stirling and looking for a place to donate the majority of the timber, soft / hard mix. If you also have a use for chip you can have that too. PM me to discus if this sounds of interest. Brett
  16. First started with my rover 200, my rock climbing kit (aye, sketchy), and 2 borrowed saws.
  17. No mate, I'm a climber. Like a proper one, that takes great pride in accessing the tree with out aid of gadgets. I will throw my rope though.
  18. I virtually never take ladders with me either, unless its a big hedge.
  19. am I the only climber who only uses a throw bag maybe twice a year?
  20. Check this out... Tune my Tractor | Valtra
  21. see.... i knew there must be a reason. i just didn't know wit it wiz. cheers guys.
  22. Ok, so looking at roof mount crane/tractor combo's, most seem to be valtra's. why? Speaking to my mate who drives tractors on farms for a living does not rate them at all, wondering why are they so common in forestry/arb? I'm not clued up on tractors just a question out of curiosity.
  23. Budget - primark do a good base for about 3quid for a awesome one- redram / merino wool type
  24. good god!! that sounds like a bloody nightmare to me.
