  1. Reckon the venom 22 ton road towable is a better option than that. How much id it's? The Venom is only £1700, you get a lot for your money in my opinion
  2. Some really good choices, shame the Mdl doesn't have a table
  3. I'm in the same boat. Looking for a new splitter, similar budget. Like the look of the Venom but seems too good to be true on the price?
  4. Interested to follow this thread. You seem to get a lot of machine for very little money!
  5. So have I. Brilliant stuff, use it all the time. You need to strike it well but it's never ever failed to set granite hard
  6. I thought all stove glass was ceramic
  7. 1.2 level, less the wheel arches. I have the same truck and sell my firewood in 1.2 cube loads
  8. Very interesting, so hornbeam has more calorific value per cubic metre than any other on that list!
  9. Watch out for the flip! Don’t take your eyes of every split!
  10. I was thinking along similar lines. Building a concrete block chamber with a stove ( workshop stove ) in the centre, flue pipe out the top, couple of IBCs in there, keep the stove running for a few days....it's got to work, hasn't it?
  11. Very high praise. What do second hand wp36s go for?
  12. I'm the same, just need a small kiln to finish off the last bit of seasoning. I have a stack of timber, seasoned but uncut and rain wet, chuck into a small kiln set up and ready to sell.doesnt have to be top spec at all, stacks of pallet wood etc to feed it. Must be a way.....
  13. I'm ok with the labour side of things, so im not really looking to save anything there, just wondered if an old 20 ft shipping container could be cheaply modified to dry firewood? Even if drying from green to dry took a few weeks?
  14. I know already I'm going to sell all the dry wood I have, I just wish there was a simple way of building a kiln to dry 4 or 5 cube here and there to keep it ticking over. Any ideas on cheap easy to build kiln using workshop stove type appliance to heat the wood?.
  15. No but bet they're pricey. cant they supply the bags and you fill?
  16. I'd go with maple.
  17. We have pretty good broadband here but it's just a lot slower than it used to be. I think the new site is great, maybe it's my old I pad that I use that's the problem
  18. Takes an age, really like arbtalk, but a quick visit has become a chore.
  19. The inermis is the only thornless gleditsia if my memory serves me
  20. My god, it's a bit close to those houses isn't it? A turn in wind direction.....
  21. Must admit I've admired that splitter every time it's posted. Very versatile
  22. I cut yew disks last year, drink coaster size, and left them in my garage, up on the lintel to dry. Perfect, one or two split but they were fine. Stick them in a shed or garage see what happens. Mine got a little white mound on the surface but when sanded came up really nice.
  23. Hi mate, shame you are having to sell up. Message me what's for sale thanks
