  1. Superb. Good luck with your sales, looks lovely stuff. 5 or 6 pallets per burn is brilliant, must be very efficient in the firebox? Does it work like a modern stove?
  2. So they keep coming back to you and then leave again to try another supplier? Says it all really.
  3. Jealous! How many kgs do you get out of that batch?
  4. The axe heads are sticking up out of the table, wood looks great, axe legs look a serious liability to me!
  5. Do it as a sideline. If the wood is free and you pay little rent on the land and barn you can make money, nothing to set the world alight though. It's a quality of life thing, you have to love doing it in the first place!
  6. Any chance of a shot of what the middle of those sticks looks like?
  7. The first few batches had pallet wood and old fencing material in it so I'm guessing best to avoid that lot!
  8. If the wood is completely carbonised is it ok to cook with if it was treated in any way before it was burnt?
  9. Looks great. So how many Kgs do you think you get from each burn?
  10. Looks great. Did it char all the wood completely?
  11. Let's see the charcoal man, we need charcoal!!
  12. Got be happy with this! Had to damp it down but seasoned oak charcoal.
  13. Brilliant firewood. The Yanks call it black locust and love it!
  14. Is using lovely fine ash logs a bit of a waste of firewood or does the type of wood make a big difference n the end product?
  15. My stove is steel so I hope not!!
  16. I don't plan to sell it really, if I can make a few beer tokens during the summer months... Got some seasoned eucalyptus in at the moment, looking forward to seeing how that turns out.
  17. So what's the going rate for selling the stuff? Do you need to specify hard or soft wood etc etc?
  18. The bits of wood that Ive turned to charcoal consist of untreated softwood, some hardwood and bits of pallet, deck boards etc. If the wood has been treated or has nails in it is it still OK to cook over?
  19. Wow. You'll have to video that in operation and post! Do the gasses escape from the main chamber at all?
  20. Nothing technical in my set up! Just the end product in a coal bucket. Second attempt i emptied the chamber too quickly and the bloody stuff caught fire, what a waste. Got another load in thus afternoon, larger softwood, pics to follow. All good fun
  21. My very first charcoal! Ok, so it's a bit small, and a bit of ash on a few but it still sounds like glass when you drop it back on itself ( by all accounts this is the acid test) Got another load in with different size wood...
  22. Just a smaller barrel upside down inside a larger one, so a kiln I guess. What's the difference?
