  1. Bottom line is you pay for quality, experience and speed. That costs a bit more.
  2. Thank you your honour...
  3. This just has to be THE argument against kiln dried. Leave the god damn wood outside long enough and it will season on its own. Of course temperate moisture will cause very dry to not very dry. It's like leaving an airing cupboard dry t shirt ( kiln dried) on the line tonight outside, guess what.... How many people who buy 2 cube crates of kiln dried store it properly, very very very few.
  4. This wasn't even in the barn, never been undercover, split today, fresh face moisture reading. In about 20 minutes it'll be on fire!
  5. I was thinking red oak myself but the poplar like bark made me wonder. The tree itself is in the middle of Horsell common.
  6. Thanks
  7. On it's own in our local woodland.
  8. It just got to be too risky too many times. Had to go
  9. It's age my friend, nothing more nothing less.
  10. And into the burner directly
  11. My thoughts as well, surely the supply should come from outside?
  12. If not a Burley my pals just had a clear view 500 fitted. He can't speak highly enough about it. ( mind you he does get his logs of me!! )
  13. Burley stoves do take a bit of getting used to but once sussed out, amazing.
  14. crataegus pedicellata
  15. Any rotting fruit nearby? Never seen one before
  16. Does black walnut make a good firewood?
  17. Agreed. Buying firewood is a luxury, like having your garden landscaped. Another thread maybe, buts its a total false economy to tell customers that installing a stove will save them money on their heating. ( unless the fuel is free ) It's a craze that I hope continues...only for personal gain
  18. pm sent
  19. Loose tipped here as well, in a bag as you say they have to put them away anyway so no,point. 1500 cube a year, that is very good going.
  20. Agree, some barely take one average size log.
  21. Can't argue with that
  22. Easy, 25% or less
  23. Good luck to you, you obviously have a formula that works for you. The main point is that a kiln dried log at 20% and an air dried log at 25% pretty much deliver the same BTU. However a log at 25% and one at 30% makes a much bigger difference in burn quality so that extra 5% in my opinion is crucial. That's me done on the matter, have a good Sunday.
  24. Got a couple of long butts but in Surrey so no good to you?
