  1. The bottom line is you can sell whatever you like, there are no lies being told or deception, however, ask ANY stove retailer, Hetas engineers, 99% of all firewood sellers and they will universally quote 25% or less. If you could, would you prefer to sell your 2 products at 25% for seasoned or kiln dried at 15% Is that achievable or does it take too long in the kiln?
  2. It's a bit like putting your logs in the kiln and taking them out half way through, yes they are kiln dried, but not properly.
  3. Agreed sub 20 is difficult in winter and not necessary, but deep down we all know that 25% or less is the desired number. Where's Alycidon when you need him...
  4. Fair play to you ash, that's a lot of firewood. If I START a fire with 30% logs, they would hiss and the glass go black, sure after a little while they would burn just fine. Ok once the stove is really going...
  5. Exactly. Sorry ash you are totally missing the point. Fresh is fresh, stale is stale. Seasoned is universally under a certain percentage.
  6. But 30% isn't seasoned is it? Dry it to 25% and it is and then it's a only a few percent off the same moisture as kiln dried. If I was the customer and properly informed, I'd buy the seasoned wood over the kiln dried all day long, why wouldn't you? They burn the same at the end of the day...
  7. If only there were Log Police...
  8. But if a supplier is selling dry wood all year round there's no need to Exactly. We all know that if we sell sub standard firewood, they never come back. I'd sooner lose the sale than feel ashamed as I'm unloading!
  9. i dont get why it's becoming so complicated. Just dry the wood, not rocket science, just dry it and then burn it. Forget the wallies that sell crap firewood, they help keep the rest of us busy!
  10. Crazy. Had a customer say to me, "why can I only burn kiln dried logs" That's what the bloody stove installer said to her.....how utterly ridiculous.
  11. Don't take your eye of it for one second. When they flip, Jesus they flip!
  12. Love it, I'm doing the same tonight. Will post pics
  13. Kiln dried. It's a joke, we all know it. Dry is dry, 20% is 20%. Like customers only wanting "hardwood logs" it's all marketing bollocks and it's starting to do my head in!
  14. Any customer feedback? Crazy prices, has to be a catch.
  15. Wow! Love this idea for the kids. Empty bean tin....can you tell me how to do it? Cheers
  16. Does it take a while to dry in your barn? Can't see where the ventilation comes from?
  17. So how many 3-4 kg nets would that make?
  18. Not really, sold a bit here and there but I'm always confident we will sell most during November and December
  19. Cheers. Just an open sided barn but the long dry summer has helped. Just need it to turn flipped cold!
  20. Cheers, everyone else is too scared to show their air seasoned logs MC ......
  21. Barn stored since January, split face moisture reading of the beech logs.
  22. My old pal used to drive his mums xr2. Brilliant motor
  23. Not had one customer complain about the mixed loads. Actually the opposite, they say how lovely the last load was etc etc
  24. £10 for kindling!! Oh my Lord, whatever next.
  25. Sold lots of softwood already this season. Mixed in a bit of hardwood. Not one complaint. Repeat customers from last year. If customer only want hw, fine that's what they get, but if they call and ask for "firewood" or "logs" that's exactly what they get.
