  1. I just use a small bit of a firefighter. The flames burn all the rising gases, making a far cleaner start to the fire. Try it, it really works.
  2. Perfect kindling by the sounds of it. I now only ever light the stove using the top to bottom method. Larger logs at the bottom, smaller next and then light the kindling on top. Try it, very efficient, burns all the gases......
  3. Got the biggest Burley they make, the Wakerley. Never looked back. Hammers out the heat, amazing flame picture and really efficient. Job done
  4. They might sell a bit here and a bit there, but I doubt it will grow into serious competition. One poor load and the customer NEVER comes back. Selling cheap logs just isn't worth the hassle in my opinion.
  5. I've used glyphosate numerous times, a good application and it's gone. Did a local tennis club last year, nothing has come back. Outside the local Stihl dealership, nothing came back. Just up the dosage a bit.
  6. It's gonna happen this year, freezing cold and dry. Whistlening wind every day running through the pile. Have faith.
  7. Are you customers a mix of new and old? Sold a few loads last week but still waiting for the mad rush.
  8. I took this with my old iPhone 4s. Not bad I thought.
  9. Burns really hot as well so best to keep an eye on your stove, can quickly overheat!
  10. Is that 17 nets or 17 bulk bags?
  11. You'll like this Ian 👍
  12. I just use naniwa stones. Not that expensive. Finish with a strop. Takes a bit of practice but easy enough if patient.
  13. I love it. I sit outside, glass of beer, kids are chilling, daddio is sharpening a few knives, happy days!!
  14. Hi Ian I've had that opinel for 30 years, found it in a drawer blunt as **** . I used a 220 grit, 800 grit and then a 10 000. Finished on a strop. Took about 30 minutes.
  15. It's staying I'm afraid, but the ash that's coming down has a very straight stem if that interests you?
  16. Looks like that's the one. Thanks, top knowledge.
  17. Can someone identify this tree for me please. Thanks
  18. this knife sharpening is a bit addictive
  19. That's my mantra as well, needs to easily shave otherwise it's dull. It's the stropping as you say that puts that lovely edge on it. I use jewellers rouge, works a treat
  20. Funny that, mine does exactly the same

    Knife

A pal asked me to put an edge on his hunting knife, not too shabby I thought.
  22. Maybe to start the fire off but once it's going surely the larger logs efficiency is negligible?
  23. Curious to know why we are so far behind in log burner technology? Thought all the state of the art secondary burn super duper high efficiency stoves were all developed in Europe? Seems that it's a case of " can't use softwood" yet again
  24. Download a video on my iPad to here? It says wrong file?
  25. Tradition doesn't pay for much nowadays!
