  1. My very first attempt at making charcoal is in progress right now. As soon as it cools down I'll let you know how I go on. A very basic setup with a 55 gallon drum...
  2. Wd40, worked an absolute treat today. Like a new blade...cleaned off the hung on the teeth as well.
  3. Agree, I own a Gransfors, beautiful axe. I also have a couple of x27, one at home one at the yard. Axes are like quality knives, you can never have too many.
  4. You might have to trade mark it, you never know!!
  5. Very interested in this thread also, keep posting pics Beau 👍
  6. My circular saw has also done a couple of hundred cube. Some wood it cuts like butter, others not so good. Green softwood is a no go, but dryish hardwood is excellent although anything over 8 inch it struggles.
  7. You're a clever sod Alec
  8. Forgive my ignorance but what's the difference between biochar and charcoal? Can biochar be used as bbq fuel?
  9. It's a wind up, it's like asking to buy a perfect steak every time from the supermarket. Just doesn't happen. I agree, delivered logs should ALWAYS be ready to burn, but as to the occasional misshapen one, cheeky softwood one, slightly longer one, bit of mud on the side one, heavens above, get a grip.... Buy the imported crate, " oh my god, there's a smaller log in the corner with half the bark missing"
  10. Or he's wincing to himself out of embarrassment, and his red cheeks are what's keeping him warm
  11. Yup, agree totally. It's a wind up anyway, has to be..
  12. Chill highsuck, chill
  13. Blimey, this has gone too far!! Let the OP buy kiln dried, good luck to the bloke. You'll always get a few customers who want more than you can give, that's called consumer choice. 20 years though, flippen eck, he should of sussed it by now. Kiln dried has been around a long time now. I'm sure there will be something else to complain about, burns too quick.....
  14. Reckon you have been "just unlucky" 20 years of bad luck must have taken its toll. I'd be buying kiln dried if I'd had all your bad luck. Were you never tempted to buy unseasoned firewood and dry it yourself? Maybe you didn't have the space. I have to also mention I've seen some shocking quality imported firewood as well so hopefully with your exacting requirements you find a good supplier.
  15. Absolutely perfect for drying logs. Likewise, would be a great setup.
  16. Looks too pale for hazel. My guess is willow
  17. Agree that's it's maple
  18. A cube here and a cube there, that's about it now. Working on filling the barn for this winter.
  19. My very thoughts, should be able to sign using just an email address, not your exact home address. I'm not broadcasting where i live but will happily sign if they can just go by an email address
  20. Yup, sold out as well. Working on winter 17 now. Wish I had more dry stock, could have sold it quite easily.
  21. You'll enjoy burning it when it's dry.
  22. I'd say ash
  23. Think you are right about being Yew, was my first thought. No bark, sorry
  24. Will this pink grain remain or will fade wirh age?
