  1. on a big 8" bich job at the moment so not got time for rodeys, ?, got 10-12 trees to get down and stacked tomorrow,
  2. Well i must congratulate you as your the first person i know of who has either recieved or had conformation that they got your application, well done Sir, i have got to a stage at the moment as i have application in with DEFRA and i have a registeration application in with DVLA every thing with these departments seems to take a lifetime to sort, i think there web address should be www.govslowasfuck.com,
  3. Nails ,shake and proberbly not worth turning up for if they where for nothing, but one thing spings to mind looking at the photos how are you going to get either a arctic or a wagon and drag in there to load the 30 tonnes of timber ?,
  4. dont climb now adays myself but have employed plenty of climbers over the years, a small amount of them are well worth the money, some are average and some are just taking the piss, for some one on the ground who is just accessing the abillaty of a climber in a tree, by far the best climbers i have employed are all the same build, small frame, no extra weight on them and quite strong for there size, apart from this group there is only one other guy i use who is worth his money, one young lad who qualified about 2 yr ago says he is good and wanted £160 a day, now i am fair and willing to give any one a chance but this guy was as near as you could get to being useless, had to tell him to get his kit on after he had sat and watched me unload chipper etc when he finally got up the tree, he just kept asking me which branch now, as if i know as i aint up the tree, just told him to get on with it as i was freezing stood there waiting, asked him down at dinner with about a third of one tree compleated, job was 3 trees and we should of had all 3 done for 2-3pm, i said to him we had done for today and i would come back with another climber and get finished another day, i told him not to take offence but he needed to watch some one who was good at his job, 4 days later i invited him back with another climber on site, climber up tree for 8.15 not 9.30, first full tree down for 10am 2nd one 11,45 3rd one finished for 12.45, cleaned up loaded up for 1.30 young lad just said he is quick and good at what he does, as far as know the young lad has been on several jobs with the other climber and says he has learnt loads of good tips of him and hence has come on in leaps and bounds and now asks for £110 a day as he says thats all he is worth (his words) compared to other guy on £200 a day, so make your own minds up on this, but this is just my view on climbers some are shit hot, some are better than average, some are average and some are just living a childhood dream, sorry,
  5. saturday & sunday no one at work with in the council on them days, just get on with it,
  6. what are you trying to say in the last quote ? as it dont make an ounce of sence to me,?
  7. parts ordered and rebuilt within 48hrs and back out earning its keep,
  8. supposedly ??? and vosa that says it all traffic womble !
  9. where did you get that from ? as i know where there is some more like that and 3 of the logs are a bit bigger than that one ?
  10. Hi i have just said tonight to the woman who has the chippy where i picked my tea up, it seems like half the population of the UK just seem brain dead,!, hydraulic pump shoud run in oil 24/7 as it cant pump oil and lubricate its self with out oil, just keep your eye on it if its ok i think you have had a lucky escape,
  11. hi the whole site 0.5 hectare and the wooded section looks like its just over a third of the plot so there cant be that many trees in there, how big are the trees ? windblown you can clear up no probs, there should be no problem doing it with out felling licence as its in your garden and it not big enough to warrent a licence.
  12. Sorry to hear your the way you are, but i know where your coming from on this issue, had a trapped nerve in my neck about 3 years ago could hardly move my head without being in a load of pain, my right arm always felt cold and could hardly lift any thing with it, after several visits to a physio began to feel a bit better, the worst of it lasted about 2 wks but sorry to say this it was nearly 3 months before i felt as if it was ok, just had to carry on doing bits as best as i could but the first 2-3wk drove me mad as could hardly lift the kettle to brew up, hope your back up and out,n,about soon,,
  13. Typical, about ten days ago i went to move some timber of a local tree surgeon and when there i was asked to come back the day after and remove some fencing that they where sorting out that had partly blown down and the rest they where taking down, the fence had been up about 15 yrs and was put up to deaden a bit of sound from the railway at the bottom of the garden, but from what i could see it was badly designed, 4x4 10ft treated softwood posts then 4x2 oak rails on the inside of the garden and then boarded with 8ft 6x1 1/2" oak boards on the rails, so hence a lot of weight on one side boards where in very good condition and nicely weathered in would look great any where them,
  14. Hi got a cabinate full of shot guns ranging from old hammer guns as far back a 1860 and a new under/over o puchased last sept that i aint shot a box of cartridges through yet, and the only gun i pick up and use is a old battered up Linclon over/under 20g,
  15. I bet the sales of moderated shot guns and decent pre charged air rifles have hit a all time high in sales at the moment, i keep thinking about one but time i get there to buy one they will be about 2k each,
  16. Hi the idea seems right but how long will it take ? and how much will it cost ? would the customers your aiming at pay more for a good quality product ? we used to cut 1.5 & 1.8 posts but dont bother with them now just strainers and the timber we used to cut for posts now goes in to chip stack as time taken with the posts is just to much for the extra few quid you get for them, i think is far cheaper to buy posts but there id some shite about i know that, bought some 5,6" 3-4" in feb and there was some crap amongst them,
  17. I will say same as Khriss if you can get a new saw out of him do it , your saw 10 yr old and not worth fixing at that age, in my case it was a bit different as saw would only may be had 20 ltrs of fuel through it and it was just cosmetic damage, first thing i did when i stopped crying was take bar n chain off and started it up, it ran fine so that eased the pain a little, so your case either new saw or keep looking for a good replacement and keep other for the odd spare,,,,,,
  18. Oh I have 25ltrs of a aceitone it came with a job lot of paint, cool will try that, DONT put it on plastic thou, some plastics will be destroyed by acetone as aceton,s main use is for cleaning brushes and rollers in the fibber glass trade,
  19. Trashed a 461 last july on a windblown clearance saw ended up ramed in to woodland floor and the result was about £190 for back handle/tank, exhaust, front handle, chain brake/front hand gaurd and sproket/side cover, then another £85 for bar and chain, saw at the time was just 12 mths old and had done very little work untill this job came along, i was sick as f--k when i picked the saw up out of the ground and so the state of it, but better the saw than me,
  20. Some photos of the site and said trees would help your case, 15 trees 20-30 tonne ?
  21. its not just me then ? i thought to my self this morning, god i can strip a engine down, inspect, replace what needs replacing, rebuild and get running again, but i cant even put a ink cartridge in a printer, !!!!!!!!!
  22. this will do your sleep problems the world of good ? i am sure! its like owt else if you do it every day its easy, i have just put a new ink cartridge in my printer and just felt like throwing it out the window after several attempts at fitting it, its working but the low ink indicator light wont go out and did,nt want to try it till it did, so tried it now there is paper all over office floor, F-----G great,
  23. trailer bed high,t on 10 ft tipper on 12" wheels is 26" and wont be any higher on a 12 ft trailer,
  24. best addvise i can give you is just get a 12ft ifor tipping trailer and you will not be disapointed at all, i got to a stage where i was sick of handballing/ shoveling so i just thought bite the bullet spend the money and i bought a 10ft ifor tipper and i think its one of the best money/labour saving items i have purchased, came home from a job last night at 7.30pm truck and trailer loaded with chip just backed up to a chip pile tipped trailer, un hitched trailer backed truck up to pile tipped that off hitched trailer back up and away, it proberbly took me 1 man 15 mins to tip 4 1/2 - 5 tonne of chip, shoveling/raking it out would take how long ??,
