J is about bang on with rates, i do know of the odd harvesting crew that will pay up to £180 a day for a good cutter with the expieance, i was recently doing some spruce edge and over sized trees for a harvesting crew and got £12 a tonne of them working on a average of 3.25 tonne per tree doing 7/8 trees a day, had 8 days at it but had to have 3 days off after i got finished,was totally F - - - - D,

a bit shit that but the tec we have today makes me quiver, thats why i dont go near it as i would do something like yourself ,for me its landline number with answer phone, mobile with answer phone and a email address on pc at home answer one or two calls during the day but just sort it all out at home and if i need to ring back in office hours do it morning after,

what was CS33 felling large trees over 760mm is still there, its nptc level 3 unit 313 fell and crown breakdown of trees over 760mm, i was having the same thing out with a FISA guy a few months back as i was lead to believe it was no longer but it is its just been worded different so you cant find it and it dont say how big the tree is untill you go on the acessment quertiun page on the link, but its like many things in life, if they left things alone we would all no where we are, but some knob thought they would try and fuck us all up by changing all the unit numbers and there trying to make the industry safer ??????

hi for me its a old mcconell cuts up to 12" can log and plank with it, take it in to the wood and work in there with it, twin cylender petter diesel on it about 12hp, according to engine number the engine was manufactured in april 1953 and i would be very sure to say its the original engine, starts first swing in any weather and i cant make it use a gallon of diesel in a day, works well for me but i dont think it would pass any HSE inspection tho,

ifor trailers will hold there money better than any othere trailer out there which says a lot to me, as butters said new trailer every 2 years for £300 which works out at approx 40p a day, now thats cheep to have a new/newish trailer , the ifor i run is a 2014 10x5.5 tipper that is worked to death and nearly always overloaded, 2 services with dealer and 1 set of tyres so far, not had any problems with it as yet,

there are some good winches out there but one or two seem to be better than others and one thing i will stress is after sales service, a few years ago i went through this looking for a winch to go on a 40hp kubota and in the end after trying to buy one from a company down south i just bit the bullet rang jas wilsons and had a winch delivered the morning after, ok it was a bit more money but after sales has been fantastic, at 15 month old a pad came adrift, snapped the drive chain and destroyed the pad, rang them to buy a set of new pads and a couple of split links for chain, no payment was taken on the day but following morning parcell arrived with new pads, drive chain split links and 3 new sliders and 3 new logging chains along with an invoice for £00.00, rang them and asked about sliders & chains and was told have them on us for your trouble, i think that was a good jester and i have often thought would i had got that else where ????? i dont think so,

if planted at 3mtr proberbly at about 30 years but will have a lot of top in them , if they had been planted at 1.8- 2mtr would of made better trees and thinned at about 12-15 yrs would of been a better option,,

some people above are saying cabstars dont carry the weight well ? well i tend to disagree with that, but you can make your own mind up on that one, had mine 14 years at the end of Feb and i can not fault it at all, carrys weight well and dont look over loaded pulls ifor 10ft tipper about most of the time and pulls what ever you put on it and what we put in the trailer, have been on a weigh bridge with pick up and trailer loaded with beech and sycamore but i dare,nt say what the weigh ticket said,,,,,

hi leave insurance out of it for now, report to police let them do there bit (thats if they have time) and then if they come up with something and return chipper its then up to you to sort out with insurance co, a farm down the road from me got a call about a year ago from a police officer in oban that they had recovered a quad that was stolen from him in lancashire in 2011 bike was returned with police paper work and he took it up with his insurance and managed to buy the bike back of them for £250 which was to cover addmin fees, they said it was not worth then coming to collect and sell at auction, so you may end up with a cheap second chipper,

on this subject i would say if you can afford to do it get it done. a woman i knock about with changed a fair bit of capital in to euros quite a number of years ago and has cashed the euros back to sterling over the last year or so and made a fair bit out of this, she said i dont know what the figuar id but she said she had turned 12k in to about 20k in ten year or so, she never told me to do it tho,

but whats your working RPM, ?, lad i was felling edge trees for after christmas works his machine at 14-1500 rpm but he did say if he worked it at 1800-2000rpm fuel comsumpion went up to 40 ltrs,

25-30 ltrs an hour so i am told 260-340 hp thou a bit bigger than a saw

sorry but there seems to be different grades of this, a mate of mine renewed the floor of his 14ft ifor he got the sheeting from a reputable sourse but it was a bit cheaper than the sheeting supplied by a ifor dealer but it only lasted just over 2 years, last time he got the proper sheeting from a ifor deeler and thats been on just over 3 1/2 years and looks fine

the rules with fuel are a bit OTT at the moment and i dont see them changing much, a garage dowm road from me that i have used for 30+ years was recently sold to M&S, a revamp took place and when it re-opened i went to fill truck and saw fuel cans when it came to the saw fuel pump would not work as they would not switch it on, then some one came to me and said the can has to be on the floor as you cant hold it up in the air just incase you spill petrol on yourself, at this garage i cant fill can and see how many ltrs i have put in can on pump screen, asked about this can on the floor at another local garage and was told fill it how you want as long as you pay for it,

a few from a couple of years ago, it was like this for about 3wk but half a mile down the hill all was green,

yes by all means put it through make 5 bowls put them on ebay / facebook sell them then do the country fairs as that will all be cash put your expenses through and a bit more besides and you know what to do with the rest, claim a bit more on your electric bill for lighting, dust extraction and powering the lath, if you dont put it through it will be costing you as if customers pay BACS paypal etc you can be sure that the HMRC will want there cut, i put everything out door related through coats boots wellies fleeces etc and have just been pulled up on one item which where a pair of meindle dovre boots £240 accountant asked why i needed a pair of £240 boots, i replied there warm, waterproof and comfortable to wear and if i had a nice dry carpet under my feet like you i would only need a £50 pair of shoes like you, but unfortunatly i work outside in the elements, no reply from him and yes they went in,

we do it now and then 100 x 22mm treated boards, set both corners up measure the gap between and work out how many 125mm spaces available and dont forget to add a extra 25mm on, usually 25mm gap but it dont allways work like that just done some on a log store and gap worked out at 35mm gap would be fine ant where between 25-50mm ,
