  1. Try another wrap on the hitch maybe? I haven't used cougar blue so I don't know how that combo works out. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  2. The most valuable tip you will obtain on this thread is that you should buy an Easy Lift Harness. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  3. So, that's good info on what not to get. What do you think I should get? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  4. I just use 1.2m. I always found having a bunch of different lengths sent up made tangles. Although I do have three longer slings for fatter things. No matter what length you have, one always seems to disappear. No one has ever been able to explain why. Same happens with spanners, rakes, hammer and log vice etc. Strange. Mmm!!? 5. It's the busiest I've seen this period for years! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  6. Need something good for bashing plastic wedges in for tree felling. Do people prefer a sledge hammer or an axe with hammer on the back? So, what make, model & size is most popular? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  7. No and I'm sure it never will be as it's just a drawing of the Landrover through the ages. Dumbest looking vehicle I've ever seen. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  8. The best advice I give is: Don't set up near me! Lol! I'm sure every employer would say the same. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  9. Have you checked the hydraulic oil filter. Rare problem but possible. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  10. Oh, I see. Hahaha! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  11. Indeed but it demonstrates confidence by Petzl and shows good will. Smart. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  12. Nowt wrong with that. Saves carrying those pesky heavy saws around! Lol! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  13. I've always thought those to be hilarious. Who in their right mind would wear something like that! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  14. Same here. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  15. If I used a Zig Zag I'd be confident and they've extended the warranty to 10years for this fault. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  16. Surely Orangeplant are the people to contact? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  17. No it doesn't. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  18. And that's the crux Tony. From what I've seen and heard, you are a very accomplished and productive climber. However, I've seen climbers who have all the tickets but are worth less in the tree than on the ground. I bet you've seen some too. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  19. I'm no expert but the Avant is much faster over the ground and is designed to lift. A digger is designed to dig. Do you need a lifter or a digger and is ground speed important? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  20. And the client won't be able to prove anything cos the gate could be shoved straight through the chipper. Brilliant! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  21. Checkatrade is not what it used to be. It has inevitably turned into a very commercial venture. When I signed up a long time ago it was all about quality. In 2009 I was one of three companies in my operating area. 18 months later I was one of 43 in the same area! They won't let gypos sign up but there are some very questionably 'tree surgeons' on the register in this area. My point is they have no way of checking the quality of the work and so long as the client doesn't complain, life goes on. I also know for a fact of one recent start up who fills in Feedback forms for a Checkatrd registered buddy, who reciprocates the favour. How can Checkatrade monitor this?! 22. What a gent! The power of Arbtalk eh. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  23. WHAT HE SAID!! Sorry, did I shout that😳 Apparently the CT one is very good. I have the old and new Petzl Pantin and the new one is not as good. With the new Pantin you want your rope to be 5mm thick to make clipping in easy, then it needs to swell to 16mm to stop it slipping out every 4 seconds. PS: I should add that I've always really rated Petzl gear and realise that my technique may be at fault. I have a left old Pantin and a right new Pantin. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  24. With that much power, easily! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  25. Try a Lyon sling with a snap gate biner as a chest harness. It's cheap and easy. Choose a biner with a smooth nose on the end so that sling doesn't get caught when unclipping. Honey Bros sell a good one in a orangey colour with grey bits on the spine and it has a curved gate. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
