  1. Is that serious Drew?
  2. Hitch Hiker or Rope Runner. Have you got a Petzl Pantin, or similar? All the info you need is on the SRT Forum above.
  3. Mine is the 350tes, I think. Or 360tes. Oh I don't know but I do know it's not the new one. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  4. I've just been having a think about my Echo. The air filter is good. The front handle is good. The price was good. The vibration is questionable. The filler caps are badly designed. The tool strop attachment is not strong enough. The replacent snapped too. That snapped too. The chain brake lever is rubbish. The chain and bar is rubbish. The crank bearing failed. Then it failed again. The starter cord spring snapped. Another one snapped. Then another. The exhaust blows slight backwards. My saw is four years old and all this happened in the first two years and it was being used about two days a week. You pays your money and you pays the price! 5. What? You'll get another 8 months outa them! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  6. I have the Echo for and it works very well. The chain brake lever is slightly annoying and the on/off switch is the opposite way round to a Stihl but you get used to it. The handle ergonomics are excellent. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  7. Hi Ian. I've thought about it and just as a test, I went up my tripod steps with ELH and long hedge cutter. I didn't get very far before the self preservation alarm went off and my knee started wobbling! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  8. There is no comparison. The ELH does the job perfectly. The others don't really do it at all. The ELH is a seriously good labour saving device. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  9. I have a 540xp and it's great. I've never used a 210t. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  10. Ok, so today I had to re-pollard a big Poplar. It was near enough 140ft to the top and 120ft to my TIP. Two main lines would have definitely helped with stability, work position and confidence because it was windy, raining and a big, spready tree. However, most of the trees I climb are probably 50-90ft total height often with congested crowns. I understand the reasons for DRT but it would be too much hassle for my kind of work. Happy to be corrected though. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  11. Kevin. I just saw the video on the other thread, you should put it on here. How important is it to have two bridges? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  12. In the UK? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  13. Kevin, I'm the same with my lanyard use, but don't tell anyone! Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  14. Hi Reg Oceans filmed it and Bixler posted it, I think. I mentioned them so that folk didn't think it was me. Keep safe. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  15. Good post Marc but I didn't state that the lanyard is a lifeline, I just meant that I'll be tied in twice. Like you i often don't clip the lanyard in if I think there is no way I can cut my main line.
  16. Kevin, your emphasis seems to be on tying in twice whilst cutting. Well by climbing on 1 rope and clipping my lanyard I am therefore tied in twice. If I cut one or a biner fails I'm still tied in. Surely that saves the complexities of two ropes? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  17. I agree Drew but just wondered why some people are using it. I never cut anywhere near my rope so it doesn't matter if I'm hanging from 1 or 9 ropes. Is there something in it that we are unaware of? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  18. This video has been put together by Bixler and Oceans who are Treehouse regulars. I think it is great because it has some excellent views of SRWP and some of the gear involved. So I think you'll either find it to be easy entertainment or educational.
  19. Me too James so I can't see the advantage yet. Kevin Bingham needs to get a video up here. I don't need much of an excuse to get a Rope Runner!
  20. So just to get this straight, climbing with two main ropes means having two main anchor points at the top of the tree. As you move out and down through the canopy both ropes would have the same route therefore there is no advantage at all to work positioning. So to achieve a work positioning advantage the two anchor points must be placed wide apart and one of the ropes has to have a different route through the tree, which means unclipping and clipping in at every branch that you pass and then again on the way back. Forget what I said about earlier about 20% slower, it's gonna be 250% slower! However, surely some of our more learned colleagues will be along soon to set us straight.
  21. I climb and work SRWP. I can see the safety advantage of having two main lines however, it must be so slow. I can imagine it slowing me down to the point where my daily income is reduced by 20%, of course I could be wrong. I'm all for safety so if I'm wrong I'd like to know about it and I'll buy a Rope Runner. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  22. Actually, this is a massive de-rail so apologies to the OP. I'll start another thread on this subject now. Here it is: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=75785 Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.

  24. With a lanyard I assume. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  25. If you buy it from abroad you'll get no help from your local dealer if it goes wrong. Also, remember it is an Auto Tune saw so you can't fix that part yourself. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
