  1. How did it go? Photos or video? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. I'm felling a Coast Redwood in Reigate on the 28&29th. Access is good for any vehicle. I don't want any of the timber. It's twin stemmed from 5ft. One stem has diameter of 3ft @ 7ft above ground. Anyone want it and does it have a value? PM me or post here or call me, Al on 07834 414271. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Is that a regular glitch Miker?
  4. I don't know but if you Google 'Apprentice scheme' or something similar, you'll find what you need. It was nearly two years ago that I did it so I can't remember now. Sorry.
  5. Ok. If it doesn't have a timber value then that's the way it is. Who wants it?
  6. It's been lashing down for two days and nights here, near Gatwick.
  7. Agreed. 10oz is not heavy enough. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. I was TOTALLY sold on this, until a few days ago. I was in my local Husky dealers shop and he had just been on a demo day. He said the battery will last 35 minutes, on stand-by. It will cut for 7 minutes. SEVEN?!! Now, I may be missing the point here and I know each cut lasts only a few seconds but it sounds a bit iffy to me. Any comments from those that have used it? My dealer did confirm that it cuts as well as a 200t.
  9. No, I bought the Echo as a second saw a couple of years ago and have hated it because it cuts so slow. I was using it on this job because it had a 14" bar and I like to run it occasionally so the fuel doesn't go bad. Two weeks ago I changed to a 12" Oregon bar and now it's as good as an MS 200t. The job took three days with very few breaks for tea.
  10. I think the Tripod ladders are better beacuase they are lighter and you can stick the single leg into the hedge if required. My Tripod is infinitely better than my traditional four footed steps.
  11. I'm not sure Jon but have you put this on the Fungi thread?
  12. Bumpy bump? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Where can I get me some of that there doosel? It sounds cheap! 😂😂😜 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Thanks for the replies about ground damage. It's what I expected. The problem I'm faced with us that I am a one truck business. I was about to get a second truck but the financial crash stopped that. Hey ho. A loader with grapple and stump cutter attachment would be great for me. One day, I hope. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Good post. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. Yes I think so. If it's as good as his stump grinder that he's just launched, its gonna be awesome. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Good point PMH. I'm down south in Jensen country. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. I would love a Mini loader so much but in SE England most trees are in back gardens, access is 35" wide and we can't churn up the lawns. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. 19mm Polydine. The only reason I bring out the GoPro is on high risk jobs. Overhead & underground services, buildings, very dodgy trees, crane/ MEWP jobs etc. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Having spent years working in hot climates I would not recommend it. Think about it. Endless summer means endless heat. Not good in a physical job. That's only my feeling though. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Wow, now we've got four options! I like the concept of the Throwpod but the ring makes it an expensive option IMO. Also, I think 10oz is too light, 12 or 14 would be preferable for me but maybe just because I never ever throw, just Bigshot. If the RK was to cost £90 (just the RK, no extras) I'd buy the RK or sure. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. What makes more mess on a customers lawn, a Multione or Boxxer?
  23. Yes that is the hard bit. The hardest element is getting a prospective employee to understand the benefits of having an Apprentice and you probably have about 15 seconds to convince him before he puts the phone down. By the way, your best selling point there may be to point out that it's very easy to get rid of an Apprentice if he's no good. Most employers are fearful of taking on someone who turns out to be an idiot and a liability then be stuck with them. I don't think they'll have that problem with you though Shame you're not down here, I'd take you on the scheme right now based on what we've all seen of you on your thread.
  24. Sorry, that was per week and during school holidays he worked 5 days a week. It was a two year arrangement but the college couldn't keep the second year full so towards the end of the first year they 'squeezed the second year in'! It was ridiculous and meant that the apprentice then thought he'd completed the scheme. Thing is though, if the lad is a numpty......... Of course , if he's good and committed then it's good for all. One good thing about it is that if he's no good it's very easy to get rid of him, unlike a regular employee on the books.
