  1. Do you think it was rope diameter at fault? I'm pretty sure it was my technique and I'm using Poison Hivee with the supplied Beeline. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Back to the problem of the HH sicking when moving to ascend the rope. PCTREE suggested I look at the area of contact between the HH and the Oxan biner. There was indeed a slight bump which I have smoothed off but it didn't make any difference. I have since paid particular attention to everything and I'm now convinced that the reason for the problem is due to the angles that I subject the equipment to. Mine only ever sticks on the rare occasion that I tend slack by lifting the tail up to advance the HH. This action turns the Oxan from it's design angle of verticle to an angle around 45 degrees towards me. This means that my harness is pulling the Oxan into the spine side of the HH while my arm tending slack is trying to pull the Oxan in the opposite direction. At this point my harness wins because it was holding the Oxan before my arm lifted. Also, my slack tending arm is turning the HH out to the side slightly whilst the Oxan is being held straight by the harness, thus introducing a twist. The HH was not designed to be used this way (I think) and it functions like polished glass if I tend slack by sliding the HH up the rope. I should add though, that if tending slack by lifting the tail, the Oxan biner only sticks 1% of the times. My conclusion is that this is a non issue and is due to a technique variation. Happy days.
  3. How did that guy find out about my morning warm-up routine?
  4. I got the GoPro Hero 2 Outdoor package. Excellent. A few extra attachments you won't get with the other packages and very simple to use, even for idiots, like me.
  5. Finally managed to watch it. That's what I do and it also means you have another re-direct sling, should you need it.
  6. The Stein Orbit glasses are good because the arms are flat. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Maybe he is setting up his own business and wanted to know how to charge. Now he knows.
  8. Doesn't work on my Mac Adam.
  9. Really? Are you sure? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. .............. is killing us!!!
  11. It better be good or there will be trouble.! 😂 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Oh that's fabulous. I don't do hedge laying but I know what's involved, beaut of a job that. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. It's not a base anchor, its the left side of my line just hanging. Can be used for retrieval on pruning jobs. Because its hanging loose I can throw it out the way of the area I'm working in. I set up this way so that I don't have a long tail of rope on the ground annoying the groundies. If its undesirable to have it hanging like that, it can be coiled up at the TIP so that it out the way. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. This movie better be good because we've all built it up a bit. I've been having trouble sleeping due to anticipation. 😂😂 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. That's good that you've tried the farms. Try them again. If you call me now I can't offer you anything but who knows what will happen in a week or three. A few big jobs could come in, some extreme weather could create some work. Just because you called all the local Arb firms last month, that was a month ago. Call them again. Keep at it, then keep at it again. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. One shouldn't compare price because its a different device. Also there is a Ropeknight thread. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. @ the OP. It's interesting actually and something that I started thinking about a few weeks ago. I'm a regular on here as well as two other Arb forums, I also occasionally go on other forums. The other two Arb forums are very different to Arbtalk. They are civilised and mostly stick to facts and real events but lack the humour that is ever present on Arbtalk. I think it is this humour that creates a feeling of camaraderie but it can also become a negative aspect. I'm not brave enough to fully explain any further for fear of misinterpretation. What makes this site great can also occasionally make it bad. By this I don't mean "the site", I mean the humans that use it. I hope that makes sense.
  18. I've only read page 1. I really hope this isn't going to be a repeat of the christmas time thread that Chipper ran. While it was tremendously entertaining for the rest of us, I'm surprised Chipper wasn't swinging from the rafters by the end of it. Anyway, this thread shows that he has a bit of tenacity (he hasn't topped himself) and the fact that he's thinking of alternatives shows he's opening his mind and thought process, a bit. Keep it up Chipper and don't get drawn into a slanging match again.
  19. As Wouter has pointed out, I said "as well as" not "as fast as". What the dealer meant that for a pruning saw, it will cut as well as an MS200t. Taking into account all factors of functionality, ergonomics and speed from harness to cut to harness, the Husky will do it just as well and as fast and has all the other benefits. I'm sure it won't cut a log as fast as an MS200t. (I could be wrong)
  20. Why did they come out?
  21. Twice the price to last five times longer is good value for money I think. Having said that, £25 for something that serves me well for a year isn't bad I suppose. Local barmaid serves me all year long, costs me a heck of a lot more than £25. I TAKE IT ALL BACK STEIN. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  23. Yes, first 15 seconds to make an impression....... Which is then forgotten as soon as quotes arrive in their inbox and focus moves to the £. Boo! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Mine has the rubber boots on the rod ends. Cheap thin material on the corners. Not tough enough for the purpose. 👎 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
