  1. Hey, I was at Brands Hatch yesterday too! Great day out.
  2. I guess any twisted branches or anything not straight and thin will be a hassle in these mini chippers. The one important thing I learnt from reading this thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/large-equipment/9110-self-propelled-chipper-shreks-wee-chipper.html is the importance of learning to cut the stuff so that it chips easily. I suppose we all get used to our big trailer mounts doing all the work for us.
  3. OMG that was a good race. I feel so bad for Crutchlow but he's really showing where he'll be in two years. Bradley did really well for his first outing I reckon. Watching Rossi was like going back five years. Awesome! What's gonna happen if he starts challenging Lorenzo though. Yamaha have already said they're pushing for Lorenzo, he's no1. One things for sure, It's going to be exciting this year. I just wish Stoner was still in it (even though he's a ****). Actually, This year could shape up like the Rossi/Gibernau days.
  4. I don't know but I doubt it. It wasn't designed with that style of slack tending in mind. A couple of guys in America have tried it with a Pinto underneath but apparently it can lead to a problem. It's a funny little device. Some people make a big deal about the weight but it's attached to the rope above the harness therefore weight is a none issue. Some people get knickers twisted if it doesn't work as they want it to, instantly. The HH is unlike any other device because it's neither just mechanical or just hitch based. The most important thing to remember is that it is extremely adjustable and the hitch cord/climbing rope combination makes a massive difference just as much as how you set the hitch. 2mm adjustment on the barrel knot below the dogbone is like the difference between night and day. NOBODY will dial it in and suss the technique on the first climb. One needs an open mind and the ability to stop comparing it to the other products on the market. I would compare an LJ to an SJ but I would never compare an LJ to a Unicender because they are so different from each other. Yes, they do the same job but in a very different way therefore, different 'rules' must be applied to utilising the benefits of each.
  5. No, the end of the cord is frayed. Only joking. Looks right to me but if that's how you tied it prior to climbing it would have been too loose while climbing. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  6. And just as important, what's it like on Apple, Plane, Blackthorn etc. nasty twisted stuff we deal with most days. All the promo videos show a few Spruce and Lombardy branches. Not typical or useful. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  7. Well, I've had my Protos for a few months so I thought an update would be good, especially as the weather is about to change from cold to hot, maybe. It's a bit boring actually as nothing has changed. The helmet is still very comfy and I've found nothing about the design that is irritating. The little clip/flap thing on the back has been flipped up by a branch three times in total so that is not a concern. I've worn it in pouring rain and did not find that rain passed through due to the little shapes surrounding the vent holes. I found the ear muffs fairly easy to manoeuvre at first and after more practice they are extremely easy. So yes, I'd still recommend one above all other helmets.
  8. I have a friend who's an airline captain and be likes to wear tights under his uniform trousers. He doesn't know that I know this so let's keep it as our secret. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  9. Grais, I reckon you ought to have a look at the Rope Knight thread. You'll be in your element slagging it off good and proper. You've been all over the Sidewinder, now the Slug. Where will it end?
  10. Good post DMc. I don't understand why Grais is on here slagging it off if he's not interested in it anyway. This is supposed to be an information sharing forum not on-line cage fighting.
  11. I use a Cinch and really rate it. I started with 11mm which was a bit 'stiff' so I now use 10mm and it's a massive difference.
  12. Haha. Fond memories. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  13. Yes but they won't tell me about the bad bits. Sent from me, to you!
  14. Hey guys, ward.S worked for me last week dismantling some Sycamore's over a footpath and road. His skills are excellent and his gear is in tip top condition. Really nice guy and works very well so i would recommend him to everyone. He's doing a Redwood dismantle with us next week. Sent from me, to you!
  15. I'm felling the tree on Wednesday and Thursday. Come and get some if you want it. Call Al on 07834 414271. Sent from me, to you!
  16. I don't footlock because I found it frustrating to learn so bought a Pantin instead, 2yrs ago.
  17. Just yanking yer chain big boy!
  18. Who knows anything about this little chipper? Price? Maybe a comparison with the Greenmech equivalent? NEW Wood Chippers, BANDIT 490XP WOOD CHIPPER offered for sale Price on Application
  19. Great video, especially when the clock gets to 1.12
  20. I have not been holding my breath, it's so damn cold I just can't draw a proper breath! But it's Saturday morning 6:51 and although the sun is out there is a fair bit of frost.
  21. Hey Silky, have you clipped all the keys to it because it's not heavy enough??
  22. I don't want to derail any of the other threads so I thought I should use this one to ask my questions. 1. How many of you use two Pantins to relieve stress on the knee? I don't mean two at the same time but alternate days or weeks maybe. 2. Where do you position your Pantin? Low on the foot or high on the ankle and why?
  23. I like the look of the back pad and gear loops. Silky Fox, from looking at it, I was convinced the Austria 3.1 would be my fave. I tried it on and found it was beyond awful (on me). Such a personal thing isn't it. I ended up with a Tree Motion. Sent from me, to you!
  24. If it's cheaper to buy it's because it will be made cheaper with cheaper parts. For those reasons I will never buy one.
  25. I have found if the leg loops are a bit loose the elastics pull the loops up and they crunch nut. Now I have the leg loops as tight as possible and try to keep them down low. I'm reluctant to shorten the bridge because it feels good as it is with my Hitch Hiker. Suppose I could try it. What do people do with the adjuster straps that join the waist to the leg loops?
