  1. Couldn't have put it better myself. Excellent post. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  2. I climbed on a Lockjack for 8yrs and liked it because it is mid line removable. I tried a Spiderjack didn't enjoy but that was only because I had 7yrs on an LJ. Like RopeKnight says, depends on your style and preferences. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  3. Depends in some part, what has killed it? Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  4. Branch fishing, I like that. When we were doing practice shots into a big Poplar I attempted several times to pull the RK back through some branches and it slid back through forks like a buttered soft banana. Situations where my throw bag or Highball would have got stuck for sure. Also, my history of isolating branches is worse than useless. With my new best friend, Mr R Knight, I did it straight away! 5. According to Redwood, no. They will continue as Jensen dealers with full support. There are thousands of Jensen machines in this country that need to continue. Apparently, Jensen are supportive of Redwood building the Forst. I think Matt said that 49 Forst machines are already sold so people seem to have confidence. Don't forget that Redwood's backup with the work shop and their spare parts is second to none.
  6. Dodgy business, tree climbing. I'd avoid it at all costs. I've even moved my mattress to the floor an burnt the bed, just to avoid the risk of falling out. Gonna buy a sports car this weekend cos my 4x4 is too high and HSE don't like that stuff. 😜 Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  7. They forgot the chrome one!! Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  8. I don't have enough experience yet to answer these questions Coleman so hopefully someone else will step up. Although, I don't think the vinyl sleeve will affect performance. I reckon the foam sock will slow down flight. Both will make the high speed landing much softer so maybe the answer is that you use it naked except when the risk is too high.
  9. Matt from Redwood brought the Forst tow-along out to play today and I must say, I was mightily impressed. I could write endlessly about the details but that's boring so I'll just list the highlights. 1. Superb controls for the emergency stop/reverse. 2. The top roller moves up and over (not up & down) so large diameter wood will be accepted better. 3. Stronger chassis. 4. Engine cover is one piece so when lifted, the entire engine is accessible. 5. Replaceable parts have better access. i.e. bearings, oil filter, fuel filters. 6. Easier to use discharge spout. 7. Solid mounts for the engine. This means the exhaust won't snap after 6 months. 8. Stronger jockey wheel assembly. 9. Slightly greater distance between axle and hitch so reversing is easier and safer. 10. LED lights. 11. Better support under the hopper. 12. Reinforcement in known weak spots. 13. Can't remember. 14. 3yr warranty! 15. External grease nipples. I believe (and the majority would agree) the Jensen is the best small chipper on the market. What Redwood have done is take all the annoying little niggles off the Jensen and the result is the Forst. If I was in the market for another chipper, I'd buy the Forst instantly. This is without question, THE BEST SMALL CHIPPER available now. It's as if tree surgeons have designed it to be just right to use and easy to work on in a small, poorly lit workshop. Honestly perfect! Just my opinion of course (& I have used the other brands, before anyone gets upset).
  10. DMc, if it works so well with the HH, why is 10mm Beeline supplied? Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  11. No but I'm guessing you ask because of fragile targets like cars, conservatories etc. You'll see in the photo that it comes with a vinyl sleeve and a foam sock. You choose the protector you want depending on the situation. Realistically though, I wouldn't fire or throw any kind of throw weight so that it could come down on a fragile target. Having said that, the foam sock means that you could do this and Thomas has reported that this can be done with confidence, although it's definitely the choice of the operator on the day (& not Thomas' responsibility if you get it wrong 😄). 12. Yes I agree. A 'package' would give more new people the confidence to buy and because it would be more marketable in that format, a corporate would be more inclined to invest as it would get a better return.
  13. ????? Why have cotton when I can have silk:001_tt2:
  14. Well done that man! You won't regret it. You just need a RopeKnight now:thumbup1: The last few weeks I've been using the 6mm hitch cord that High Scale mentioned a few pages back. I found it to be very responsive at grabbing and very easy to ascend with. Descending, it has a smooth and loose feel but is still very positive when I let go. It's not 'sporty' in that "Oh Lordy, I hope this catches me" kinda way. I like it. I've used the same knot as I did with the Beeline but with one extra wrap. I just picked up some 10mm Armor Pruss but it won't fit into the dog bone so I'll have to change it. Anyone else trying different hitch cords?
  15. Chrome! A chrome chipper and truck would look outrageous. I saw a chrome Aston Martin a while ago but a chipper would trump that! Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  16. When I climbed DdRT a Pantin was the best item in my kit. Money well spent. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  17. Whilst using it today it felt very dangerous because when pulling up on the tensioning string, my head was right next to the elastics. So I've modified it with the help of an ISC Rocker and my technical genius! 😂😜 Now it's safe because I'm crouched down out the way to pull tension on. This is the perfect system to complement the RopeKnight because I have never mastered the skills of wizardry to be able to throw by hand. 😳 Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  18. YouTube and Google are your friends. 👍 Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  19. Just fired a few times into a Poplar. OH MY GOD! It's so accurate. Henry, who has rarely used the BigShot, isolated a branch at 95 feet on first attempt. Now, the reason for the accuracy was in small part due to my new BigShot Archery trigger and mostly due to the RopeKnight. It was 100% accurate when the BigShot was held steady. We both observed on every flight that when the RopeKnight reaches a certain height it flies straight like an arrow. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  20. One does not need to be good at throwing when one can buy oneself a BigShot. 👍 Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  21. It's available to buy now. Just email Paul Cox at Ropetek. He'll email you an invoice. Simple. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  22. Not wishing to derail but the Ropetek Sidewinder will do the same job but it stores the rope itself so you don't have to bother stuffing it into a bag. Could not have an easier system. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/climbers-talk/57158-sidewinder-way.html
  23. Excellent idea. Plus, if we use all the Uranium for throw weights, there'll be less for the Koreans, Chinese and other crazies. 👍😄 Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  24. Ok, so the purpose of this thread is to share information. There have been two Ropeknight threads on the Climbers Forum and both contained plenty of bickering about the cost and materials used. So in the interests of progress lets avoid that and focus on what is good, bad and ugly about the Ropeknight. On paper it ticks every box for me relating to what I want out of a throw weight: Accuracy. Ease of use. High quality. Durable. Environmentally friendly. Multi function is an added bonus. I opened the box and it all fantastic. Very high quality precision engineered metal parts and the soft covers appear to be very simple and a perfect fit. I had worried that it may be a bit fiddly to insert the throw line and set it all up but now I've seen it for real, that's not the case. Very impressed so far. Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
  25. Yeah yeah yeah! Sent with my iPhone from me, to you!
