    Seriously though, my 660 worked well but broke very quickly. Stihl were beyond awful dealing with the warranty so I bought a 395xp and it seems to cut faster. I also had a Stihl hedge cutter and when that broke under warranty they were useless. I'll never buy another Stihl product. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    I tried 8mm OP and while it gripped nicely, I didn't find it to be as smooth on descent. The stopper knot was also 'rolling' constantly which made the hitch longer.

    It's certainly good to try different things but those are long legs in your photo. I found long legs on the hitch meant more sit back, later disengagement and worse of all, unreliability in grabbing.

    That's the thing. The reality of retrieving re-directs is horrible because there is so much friction. The effort of having to retrieve re-directs by climbing back to them is nothing IMO, compared to DdRT with ropes rubbing on branches and poor angles from TIP to climber.

    I've got 16mm Portland Braid. We use it on a Stein Dual bollard and its really nice to handle on the ground and up the tree. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    IMO too much has been taken off but if it was done at the client's request, so be it. Did you get the client to sign off his 'own work spec' prior to you starting? I have done this for awkward clients and I made sure to specify exact branch length to be removed. I back it all up with multiple photos and the groundie shows the client the first few branches when they come down and make him agree before I proceed. Also, how did you reach the top of the tree from the ladder? Easy Lift Harness I assume. I see lots of yellow snow, I think you should have peed in the bushes!

    ARW would add even more friction to the system making ascent extremely difficult. A HH would add even more friction making ascent & descent impossible because the HH is designed to work alone DRT & SRT. Why do you want to add something to the ZZ? It's designed to work alone? It can be used with a RW on SRT (I know you asked about DRT).

    Good rant WorcsWuss and I agree with that. A good friend of mine works for a Russian merchant bank earning a very fat salary with very fat bonuses. He has a 1hr commute to be in the office at 5am. He's under immense pressure and has to do lots of client entertaining which means late nights. His job is on the line permanently. He loves/hates it, as we all do but what else could be do. He's only qualified to be a banker and it's the only set if skills he's got. I envy him as much as I feel sorry for him. We all have choices in what path we take and one path that many people take is the choice to moan and complain. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    I just looked at the photo again Ewan and you have one extra wrap and then have passed the cord under the first leg. That would certainly account for it being stiff to advance. I think there's a photo of mine and a photo of DMc's earlier in this thread. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    Hi Ewan You'll get used to fiddly aspect of tieing the hitch. I'm sure every body finds it a pain at first, I did. I know exactly what you mean about advancing it and I use a Lyon Sling Fig 8 across my shoulders to ensure it gets pulled up. Due to the design it only really works by sliding it up the rope and no trying to employ the same technique as used on a HC system. It certainly is different to the RW. What rope are u using it on?     I've been using Zing It for about 2 years and recently it's started to get tangled every other time I fire the throw weight. Any ideas?

    I've been in a Dragonfly for years and really rate it. Have not used the Petzl. I'll be replacing my Dragonfly with a TM as I'm finding the seat annoying since I started climbing SRT. It's purely a personal thing and no use to you probably, sorry.
